Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

Ron, is this a general animal chat or can I ask how your holiday season is going?? I'm just so bored as I hit refresh a 100 times waiting for someone to post another behavior problem or post another OES pic.

Someone just let me babysit their OES already!! Can you imagine living with me?

bla, bla, bla OES.
OES, bla, bla, bla
I want bla, bla OES

Anyway, I've begun my Christmas shopping by buying everyone Christmas stockings since most sites have that free shipping thing now.

My neighbors skipped Thanksgiving and have all their Christmas lights out. Crazy stuff. Looks like Candyland in my neighborhood. :)

LOL Joaheyo, I do that too... though I shouldn't say I am bored, because there are a million things I should be doing, and at least six things at any given time that I AM doing, but I still check the forum as often as possible, and often hit refresh to look for new posts every few seconds! LOL
Anyway, haven't done any x mas shopping yet, although we forgot to give my father in law his last year and it is still wrapped  so we'll just count that as one done!
I had to buy all four kids new winter boots today and one of them a new winter coat. We've obviously watered them too much this year, they've grown like weeds. Of course the two older ones wanted nike airwalk winter boots, twice the price of the same boot without the swoosh, but oh well, at least it gets them to actually WEAR them. I always hope I can include that stuff as x mas gifts but it never works out.
Anyway, I will officially start my x mas shopping in two weeks, and finish it x mas eve most likely. LOL
Yeah, when I first came here, I thought: Good place to get advice. Never knew I'd end up liking you guys. hehe j/k

I know what you mean about having so many things to do but you end up here. I keep telling myself "well, I'll hit refresh ONE MORE TIME then get to work." ...yet my butt hasn't left yet. ;)

Well, I'm really searching for bridesmaids/groomsmen gifts.

My idea for groomsmen: I'm thinking set of 10 cuban cigars (they're flavored chocolate and in a fancy designer box) and favorite bottle of wine/champagne

My fiance thinks: cooler filled with beer and ice. lol (not as practical for his boys to take home esp. if they fly)
i also use this site for procrastination purposes. its the best when its already 1 am and i know that no one has posted anything new yet i really really dont want to write a paper.

as far as christmas shopping... i usually do it all 2 weeks before on the internet. internet shopping is the best thing that could have ever happened to me.

also- am i the only nerd that gets my dog presents and wraps them? (haha something tells me im not..)
haha, absolutely not alone.

My MIL always gives EVERY DOG a big stocking and each family member gives each dog a gift. It's crazy actually to know I am marrying into a family that is dog looney. ;)

Last year she got the dog's peanut butter and cheddar popsicle thingies (melted all over our kitchen floor). haha
I started shopping and for Oreo. I bought a plush nutcracker it is really pretty. My son moved out a few months ago and Oreo was so good that I gave him the nutcracker. He started poking it with his nose when all of a sudeen I heard in a deep voice, "You better watch out you better not pout". He jumped straight up in the air and ran away from this creature that sang a few more songs. Then he tried to chew on it so it is waiting for another time to give it back to him. Some toys he justs wants to chew apart.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who buys gifts for my pets. Today I went to a big art and craft show and came home with a new treat jar for Truman. He has one by his crate in the bedroom and now a new one in the kitchen. That's the only thing I bought!
All my friends with animals think that the easiest presents to buy for each other come from the pet store. Last years presents included dog biscuits and squeaky toys and a huge plush moose.

The biscuits weren't too bad but I'm getting bored with the toys. 8O
Isn't it funny how the weekends are always so slow.?. I guess some people have lives outside their house...LOL.
Ok, and I thought I was the only one who hit refresh seconds after the last refresh.
My kids got too much fertilizer too, Stacey. They outgrew everything in their closet, jeans, shirts, dresses, and coats. We were so shocked. The problem with my kids though is they like to get taller, but not wider so all of their jeans fall off of them, or if they fit in the waist they look like they are waiting for the next Great Flood. LOL Even buying clothes in slims don't seem to work. I know some of you are saying buy the kids belts....LOL, have you ever seen a 4 year old turn in circles while doing the pee pee dance, because he hasn't mastered the belt. :D
Any other mothers notice that after you have kids, that they get new clothes all the time, and you are still wearing the same clothes you had 10 years ago?
No, Heather, you are not the only nerd that buys Christmas presents...LOL. Do any of the rest of you have a stocking for every furbaby? We had 10 stocking hanging on our mantle last year, and only 4 of them were for the uprights. Most of my shopping is also done online. It is SO much easier.
I have just rambled on and on. It is 1am here and Jack and Annabelle are at my feet sleeping side by side and Berlioz is down there snuggled with Jack. Berz and Jack are best buds today. It is cute, wherever Jack goes, which happens to be whereever I go....Berlioz follows Jack and rubs all over him and then flops down beside him. I don't know what it is, but it sure is cute!
Well, I should be off to bed, my munchkins rise with the sun, and I am NOT a morning person. LOL
Stormi and co.
LOL... yep they grow fast! My kids have that same problem, gorwing up but not out, so many things don't fit in the waist properly. A lot of specialty children's stores have now mastered this problem by making pants and jeans etc that are adjustable from the inside. It's an elastic band about an inch wide that is inside the waist material, with buttons to pull the elastic tighter or looses and then attach to the buttons to hold in place. The elastic and buttons are all inside the waist, so no one sees them and you can't tell it's not just a nromal pair of jeans. My son Aaron is the picky one, he will not wear most of the new clothes he gets from others at Christmas because he wants everything to fit snugly around the waist.

At least he isn't like some of the teenagers now wearing the pants so baggy that they can't keep them up...LOL. :D

We found some of those pants with the changing waist line, they are a godsend! Now they need to make them for adults around the holidays that can be let out a few inches. LOL

Stormi

ok im squeezing in here.x-mas i LOVE it!!i dont even mind the snow at this time of year.my older kids 17yr old girl and 16yr old boy are getting money i know it sounds so inpersonnal, but what do i get for teens that buy what they want when they want it w/ their own money?every yr tho we go some where fun, this yr we are going to the Ws dells, and of course we ahve a huge prime rib dinner andlots of wine..

Boy have I started my Christmas shopping  I just spent a the weekend on a shop to you drop trip! I left Saturday morning at 4:30 for Branson MO. with 36 other women, spent all day shopping at the outlit malls ate dinner saw a show. Then I got up the next morning and had to be on the bus at 9:45, shopped two more malls and finally returned home at 10:00 Sunday night. Lots of great bargins :D 8)

The trip to Branson took about 5 hours on the bus
Yeah Christmas!!! This is my favorite time of the year- although I'm a traditional girl, The fact that the stores and all decorate for christmas before thanksgiving kinda bothers me... I look at those decorations and go "Blah! Too early! Where are all the turkeys?!"

As for shopping: We got the niece and nephews toys from Disney World during our honeymoon... and that's about it! The kitty girls will be getting their annual bag of bimple balls, and an automatic kitty litter box (Ps anyone tried one of these? I hope I'm not gonna waste 100$). I'll be getting my mom a tree topper for her Christopher Radko tree- she's adicted to Christopher Radko ornaments! As for the rest of the family... no fuzzy idea yet! I ask my husband what he wants, and all I get is "a house" Yeah.. real helpful. Well, at least there's still plenty of time!
Karen :)
Hi Karen!

We had an automatic litter box when it was only O'Malley and Toulouse. Anymore than 2 cats, and it was more of a hassle to keep it emptied enough to work correctly.
I don't know if you ever plan on getting more cats, but this was just my experience with it. Very much worth the money, you would just have to have more than one in a multiple cat household.

Stormi and co.
You guys are all one step ahead of me! I used to do my Christmas shopping early, but something always seems to delay me nowadays!

Of course, Drez has a stocking, and so does Bandit (our rabbit). :P My kids are 22 and 18, so they're a little harder to shop for. Our son (22) has been living at home and commuting to his job since graduating college in May, but he'll be moving out within the next 3-4 months. So he wants stuff like you would give at a bridal shower - toaster, ironing board, iron, pots/pans, dishes. flatware, etc.! What a riot! 8) Our daughter (18) just started college, but she's kinda hard to buy for. She e-mails me her "wish lists" from catalogs, and that's what I buy. Whoopee!! What a surprise, huh?? But hey! Whatever works!

As for us, our anniversary is in October, my birthday is in November, Dale's is in December, then Christmas. We usually try to get something big to combine it all. We just don't need small stuff any more, so we figure - why not? Just more stuff to clutter up the house with! So this year, it's probably landscaping. Of course, you HAVE to have SOMETHING to open on Christmas morning, so we'll buy a little something for each other. Just not sure WHAT yet! 8O

This is my absolute favorite holiday, though! I just love all the lights and decorations, and how it actually seems to change everyone's attitudes. Too bad we can't keep those feelings all year round!

Chris
hey chris when is your bday in November?
mine is 11/23/69 so are we sharing the same day or close one?
Hey! Me too. My birthday is tomorrow, November 10.
My anniversary is October 5, we were married 8 years.
Tanya, my birthday is also November 23rd, we are both turkey's! LOL!

Chris and Deskwench and Tanya, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Stormi and co.
ill be 22 on november 14th.... happy birthday to everyone else!
40-something on the 18th for me. I refuse to remember the actual number since I can't really be that old, LOL.

Jil
Wow! Lots of us Scorpios! Best wishes to you all for a super birthday!
ah, ah, ah...speak for yourself....LOL, I am was born on the cusp and fell over into saggitarius.
Have a great day tomorrow!
Stormi and co.
Yikes! I always think November birthdays are Scorpios. I should know better, my Mom was a Scorpio too and her birthday was in October. This will be my first birthday without her. She died last November, right after my b'day. I sure miss her. When I feel sad, I always remember what she would say - "Now, honey, it's going to be all right."
Wow! So many Scorpios or near-Scorpios! My birthday is Nov 22, also on the cusp. Scorpio characteristics fit me better than Sagittarius, so I consider myself a Scorpion.

So let's see - we have:
Deskwench on the 10th
Lil Walty on the 14th
Jil on the 18th
Me on the 22nd
Stormi and Tanya on the 23rd

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US ALL!! :bdcake: Hey - do you think being Scorpions/Sagittarians (which my husband is, too) contributes to our love of sheepies???

Stormi - our wedding anniversary is October 4, and we just passed #29. 8O Of course, we got married when we were 10, so we're still spring chickens!!!

Chris
Seems that I'm already late in this thread... My wife and I were really wondering what to start getting and who to get presents, and of course, we've already started looking around for presents for Lennon and Sofa, so Lil Walty is not the only nerd who gets stuff for their doggies... We even opened our own internet store for gifts for sheepies and the nutters that love them!

We were thinking how great it would be if just one of our friends gave just one gift to Lennon and Sofa, it would be even cooler that getting a present for ourselves, because it shows that you care. The chances of that happening tough are very slim, because here in Mexico the dog culture is that you own a dog and it's property not a friend, and the dog stays outside, and it does not have feelings so you can neglect it, and you NEVER, EVER, EVER buy things for them or celebrate their BDays... So our friends think we are crazy because we care so much about our dogs that we even have a stocking for them and wrap their gifts. It's even more crazy to them that we even have paintings, pictures and ornaments featuring them at home, but we love them so much that we don't care.

Are we the only crazy ones, or some of you get the same kind of comments?
No, I think for the most part, our culture tends to lean towards spoiling our pets and treating them like people- which can be good, or it can get really bad, when we forget that they really aren't people, and that they certainly don't think like people :) I think this can be the cause of a lot of behavioral issues. Still the US has it's share of abusive people, and heaven knows we have horrible problems with pet populations/animals in shelters and rescues!

Overall though, I think that most normal americans treat their pets like beloved members of the family- and you are definitely NOT weird to buy presents for them and spoil them a little! And if your neighbors do think you are wierd, just tell tham that all your friends on the OES forum do the same thing! ;)

Karen :)
