Turbo A5 groomer

Ok...I don't own an OES...although I think they are beautiful...but I do have three dogs...a Siberian Husky, and two mutts: terrier mix, and chow/golden retriever mix. I shave the terrier because he sheds and gets matted. My problem is: the blades on my shaver weren't cutting..and me being the do-it-yourselfer that I am took apart everything I could to find the problem. yes I took apart the blade...is it true that I now have to send it off to reset the tension?

thanks for your help
Barbara

I did that, too, Barbara, when I first got mine. I did it to clean it thinking that was what I was supposed to do, given there are NO instructions that come with the darned thing.

Fortunately, a friend who was a former groomer put it back together for me and it's never given me any trouble. So, I don't necessarily think you'd have to send it off somewhere to have it fixed.

But, we have several professional groomers on the forum here, so perhaps one of them can tell you for sure. :D
you can reset them, make sure pieces go in the right way. and then make sure were the 2 blades meet they are even from end to end. That the top blade does not over lap the other. My pro hairstylist are very similar to the pro dogs and I had to reset them, bit of work but did great.
Your problem may not be the blades, but the blade drive. That's the little plastic bit that actually moves the cutting part of the blade. It wears over time, and even if you do everything right it needs to be replaced periodically. The procedure varies between brands and models and if you haven't found any instructions in the manual that should come with your clipper, I suggest you take it to a repair shop. You can, if you like call your neighborhood groomer and ask for help. Most of us pro-stylists are willing to help owner/stylists, but do call first to see when it is convenient.

To get the most out of your blade drive, always clean and oil your blades after each use. Your blades will dull faster and your blade drives will wear faster if you clip your dog dirty, so try to bathe, fully dry, then clip. Lastly, feed the hair through the blade slowly. Take long slow passes with the clipper. The finish will be smoother and you'll have less dragging. (that's when the hair passes through the teeth of the blade without getting cut)
thanks for all the responses....i got it figured out..
Yay!

Don't keep us in suspense.... what was the issue? :D
