Whose watching? :?

Did it start already?
I AM!!!!!!!!! TONIGHT~~~~~~~~~~
Two hour premiere tonight with tryouts from Philadelphia and another two hours tomorrow night with tryouts from Dallas.

I don't really care much for this part of the show, but I'll probably have it on in the background anyway. I like it once they get to Hollywood.
ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!!
I am such a hick.
I see the title of this thread - "AI" - and I immediately think -
"who would name a show after artificial insemination??!"
I'm totally watching with the in-laws. We are laughing our butt off right now. I just love Simon and don't really feel bad for the stuff Simon says since these "special" folks get paid big dollars for their act and go on interviews saying they don't regret it at all. Not to mention they sign papers and stuff ...along with have several judges prior to seeing randy, paula, and simon that they have to get past first.

BTW, I thought this was about a movie and almost didn't click.

LOL me too! I thought it was in reference to that Artificial Intelligence movie that came out a long time ago about the boy robot (the "I see dead people" boy). I have only seen bits and pieces of American Idol, so it wasn't the first thought that I had. Artificial insemination is interesting too...

That's OK Dawn, I thought it was the movie with Will Smith or a steak sauce.
8O AAAAWWWWWW!!! Thank God for Tivo, I forgot all about it. I need to catch up.
I wish these auditions were only 1 hr AND a summary of the 2 days in each city every night. 2 hrs/2 days in each city seems a little overdone for me. :?
Me too. I always feel like its a bit much.

I really loved the last guy last night. The guy who sang, You are my brother! He cracked me up!!!!!!!!!

I still think Simon is most honest of the judges. And, I feel he is only harsh when someone just doesn't get it.
I hear ratings are at an all-time low for opening season. Weird considering the time slot and what else there is on tv (NOTHING). ...........not that I expect 2nd, 3rd, 10th seasons of reality shows to get better since they normally get worse, but I guess I was hoping to hear something positive.

Seems like I'm going to like a lot of the folks. They seem interesting ...and the toe nail guy was too much.
I missed both nights (and forgot to record), so any news on if or when they will re-air thse 2 episodes?
Guess what? Remember the Carricos, who adopted Diesel from TOES last spring, http://www.tarheeloesrescue.org/dogbrow ... er=adopted ? Well, their son auditioned for American Idol in Miami and is on the show tonight (Jan 30th). :excited:

Here's a link to a brief story about it so you'll know who to look for. His name is Robbie Carrico and he has a sheepie!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEE3JKiM7jI
That's nice, I hope he's good enough to get through..

Surprised that nobody commented on the guy who gave Randy the stuffed sheepdog last night as a gift.
He made it through!!!!!!
He's adorable! Let's keep an eye on him!
Sheepieboy made it through!!!! YEA!!!! :clappurple: :cheer: :go:  :clappurple: :cheer: :go:  :clappurple: :cheer: :go:  :clappurple: :cheer: :go:  :clappurple: :cheer: :go:
:cheer: Yeah Robbie!! :cheer: We've definitely got a favorite to cheer on!!! :cheer:
I'm excited that an Aggie (Jason Castro) got passed through too although the dreadlocks and him overall isn't worth bragging about.

BTW, I was so sad to see Josiah go although he fell apart (and has some issues imo).
Finally! The good part of the season (IMO) starts tonight. :D

Crossing my fingers for Robbie Carrico, sheepie lover!!
Sheepieboy is singing right now! I love that song, but I am an old hippie! Go Robbie go!
Michael Johns can light my fire...
Michael John has "IT"! Hubba hubba!
Yeah, Michael's good. I think he was probably the best performer tonight.

But, I honestly thought Robbie did a great job, too. I was impressed. It was the first time I've heard him sing since I don't care much for the show up until the point where we can start voting. I was hoping I wouldn't have to cheer him on simply because he has a sheepie, but that he'd actually be GOOD. I wasn't disappointed. :P I think he's got a great style and I can see him hanging in for the top 10 at least. What do y'all think?

Of the men, I have four favs. Michael Johns, Robbie Carrico, Jason Castro and Luke Menard. Jason Yeager isn't bad, either.

I didn't really get the hype about David Archuleta. I thought the song he sang didn't fit his voice. Maybe next week, I'll see what they're talking about. He's young and cute, though, so he'll get the young girls votes.
I finally got to see what guy you guys are talking about (sheepie boy) and it's good to know he's someone we were already rootin' for. We like him even if he has an edge on others from prior experience (since it seems to be a big controversy on the news). I don't care because there have been other backup singers on the show, and it didn't guarantee them anything, and they would get X'ed early.
Robbie is from Melbourne Florida!!!! A Home Town Boy (man)!
What did y'all think of the girls last night? IMO, they were better overall than the guys were.

Not sure if I have a fav, yet, but my SO is nuts about the rocker chic (totally didn't see that one coming  ).
There are about 4 guys I liked and maybe 3 girls.
I really like the blonde who reminded Simon of a dishwashing liquid commercial! HA HA. She is really happy!

I HATE the Irish chick. All she did was scream!
Oh my, 8O the girls were not very good last night, were they?

The best overall performance was by the blonde chick Simon thinks is too nice. She did the Carly Simon song and she sort of has that vibe going, so it worked for her.

Other than that, Kristy Lee was a good performer, but her vocals were really weak.

The Irish chick had good vocals, but she's not much of a performer.

Overall, disappointing night for the women.
The "happy, blonde" (I think her name is Brook, but not sure) is my favorite.

She's just adorable and seems so real! Wish she wasn't married, y'all know, I have a single son!
Brooke is from Mesa, AZ - next town over from me. I wonder if they'll allow two women from AZ to win back-to-back?

I was really looking forward to Amanda's performance. The hair and the outfit were fabulous! The singing - not so much.
Well sad news, sheepie boy Robbie from Melbourne Florida is out. :(

The performance with all the contestance singing together was like nails on a chalkboard to me last night. They really do not sound good at all together.
I think Robbie would have done better if he had a sheepie on stage with him.

I'm not impressed with this year's group. There are a couple good ones, but not many.

I don't have the "AI fire" in me like previous years.
Yeah, I was surprised and a little disappointed that Robbie was let go last night. I didn't expect him to get cut so soon. :(

I wasn't surprised at any of the others, though. :? In fact, if more could've been voted off this week, we'd probably be down to five already.

Gossip: I heard on the radio this morning, Jimmy Carter who does entertainment news, reported that there are supposedly risque pictures of Amanda Overmeyer (the freaky nurse rocker chic) that someone from her past is trying to sell the National Enquirer. Apparently, they haven't hit the internet yet, though.

Doesn't this happen every year to one of the female contestants? Will people never learn to keep their clothes on for pictures?

Nope! Sometimes you do silly things when you're young and cute

I know that Robbie was representing for the sheepies, but I thought he was a little creepy. The whole long-stringy-hair-with-bandana look just wasn't working for him. Did anyone else notice this - when they were showing the goodbye video last night, his hair during the audition shots was significantly shorter than his hair is now. I know - auditions were a few months ago. But it was shoulder length at the auditions, and significantly longer now. Extensions maybe?

And Deb, I agree... I barely watched Girls Night, at least the boys are a little more interesting.
I read somewhere that Robbies hair was a wig. 8O

This has been disappointing season so far. I seriously think we could narrow it down to at least four right now.

Both the guys and the girls were much better this week. I wonder who's going home tonight??

Any thoughts?

My predictions Ramiele and Kady from the girls are leaving and from the guys, I think Danny and Luke are gone this week.
There was NOTHING on tv last night so I watched a little Idol. I liked the girl with the curls that did the Journey song who Simon said was forgettable...and I liked the girl from Florida--the short little girl, who Simon (surprise surprise!) didn't seem to like very much either!
I really wasn't overly impressed with the girls last night.

I hate Amanda and the judges seemed to love her last night. She sounds like any chick singer in any biker bar accross the country.

And I hate the Irish girl. She just bothers me!

Brooke is still my favorite.
Well, I got 3 out 4 right, so I guess I must be "middle Amercia".
So my Aggie is still in it and doing pretty well. Just wish he wouldn't ruin his chances by "speaking." That dude acts like he's smokin' something. He's not someone I'd want to have a conversation with. I get irritated easily. However, those that know him on my college forum say he'd never do any, and if anything, you'd find him at church every Sunday singing for everyone.

I hate how david archuleta looks into the camera. He reminds me of that guy who would flirt/come on to girls too strong.

I like the Australian.
Which one is the Aggie?
Jason Castro
Oh my gosh...HE IS ADORABLE! What gorgeous eyes! (I also have a single daughter! So, Jason for her, Brooke for my son!)

I think he just comes across as really happy!
Oh I like him, too! I think he's just adorable and very talented. It's nice to hear he's a good guy.

I was glad to see Danny leave. He was getting on my nerves. :D
Of the final 12 whose going to get voted off tonight (March 12th)?
I think it will be Kristy. Her version of "8 Days a Week" was terrible.
What do you think of the moshpit? IMO, the clapping was very distracting during a couple of the performances.
I think it will be her, also. She reminded me of Hee Haw, when they used take contempory songs and make them disgustingly country. I hated everything about her performance. The worst thing is, if she is off...she'll have to sing that horrible song again!

The clapping was stupid. Obviously very staged and not spontanious, or however you spell that!
Being old enough to have actually been a Beatles fan, I really didn't like very many of the performances last night.

I agree that Kristy's version of 8 Days a Week was HORRENDOUS!! She can sing okay, but whoever wrote that arrangement should be fired on the spot!

Wasn't thrilled with David Archuleta's version of We Can Work It Out either. He kept forgetting the words! I'm not really thrilled with him in general. Although his voice is pretty good, he's just too young and doesn't look like he belongs there, let alone looking like he could be an idol.

And sorry, I'm not a Carly Smithson fan either. Not a fan in general, but I really didn't like her version of Come Together either.

And please! Someone please vote Amanda off! That girl gets on my last nerve.

Brooke White did a great job with Let It Be. She didn't try to change the song too much, which is where the others went wrong.

Of course, I could be being tougher on them because I love the Beatles' songs as they were - they don't need updating, thank you very much!
I agree with you about updating those classics. BUT! I was so pleasantly surprised at Chicezie's song! He did GREAT!

David is sweet, but he doesn't have the maturity to be in that competition. He looked like a deer in headlights last night.
I'll have to try to catch Chickezie's performance somewhere. I missed the first 4 songs because of a meeting I had to attend.
Drezzie's Mom wrote:

But every week the judges tell them "Make it your own! Make it contemporary!" Those poor kids, they get a ton of conflicting advice.

No excuse for Kristi though, her rendition was comedy. I'm not an Kristi fan. I was disappointed in David H last night too, I think he has a great voice but his treatment of the song was silly. I hope it doesn't get him knocked out.

Personally, I like Amanda. I get the whole Joan Jett/Melissa Etheridge vibe from her. I like Chikezie (great job last night), Brooke and David Cook.

I don't like David A, and I think this competition is going to get a whole lot harder for him. Up until now he's been able to perform a lot of stuff that he already knows - like that rendition of Imagine. He's done that many times, it's all over the internet from different appearances. Now he's got to learn a song in a week, and that's a tough thing to do. He may not be up to it.
I was a little surprised that Kristi didn't get voted off last night. She would've been my pick to leave. She's pretty and she has a good stage presence, but her vocals just aren't strong enough to win this competition.

I still like Jason, Brooke, Carly & Michael. I agree that David A is talented, just seems too young and inmature to make it all the way. :?

I think Amanda is pretty cool, but she's extemely limited as to what she can do.

The David whom Simon said was talented enough to win this year, just creeps me out for some reason. I don't like him.

Sue, you're right, they keep being told "make it your own" and they when they do, it's too much. :?

Did anyone else hear Ryan say at the beginning of last night's show that due to overwhelming response, they've changed next week's theme and they're doing the Lennon/McCartney song book again? :? Was he being serious? :? I was never a huge Beatles fan, but considering none of the contestants did that great on these songs this week, do we really want to hear them do it again???
Hernandez going was a surprise. He is a better performer than Kristy. The news here was saying that maybe his past caught up with him.
I like the Beatles but didn't think that many of the performances were that good.
Here at my office, we were wondering if it could have been "fixed", so AI didn't have to continue to deal with the fall out caused by David's past.

Kristi absolutely should have gone. I can't believe she sang that horrid song again...and it was just as bad.

David wasn't great, but he shouldn't have left.
I thought Kristy should have been the one to go, too. I noticed that when David H sang the song again, he didn't bounce all over and go over the top like he did the previous night. His vocal range was also not a good fit for 8 Days a Week.

I was amazed/dismayed when I heard they were doing Lennon/McCartney songs again, too! Guess because they spent the whole last 6 years trying to get the rights to use the songs that they thought they had to make it worth their while. But they're butchering my teen-age idols!!

Sorry, still not an Amanda fan. When they did the opening medley number of Beatles songs, she was the worst. Yes, she does fine in her genre, but even when they get out of the Beatles theme, if they give her something that's not rocking hard, she'll have a hard time with it. She doesn't have an adaptable voice. JMHO.
Are they doing Beatles next week too? I thought they said that because of the opening song. (I certainly could be wrong!)
I don't know for sure, but Ryan did say in his opening monolouge that they were doing it again. But, since sometimes he says things "tongue in cheek" I'm not sure if he meant it. :?
I'm appalled that Kristi was saved. She was awful this week. I would bet that the producers used some creative license with the votes to eliminate David because of all the personal dirt that has come out. So much for America choosing. And there's no good reason to do a second week of Lennon/McCartney - unless the deal to get the rights included two weeks. I think I'm finally disgusted enough to give up on Idol.
Bailey's Mom wrote:

I say that every year!
Okay, we're down to the final eleven and they are doing Lennon/McCarthy songs again. I love those songs but AGAIN? The first time wasn't that great. Will Kristy butcher another one or will she have "fired" the arranger" Can Chakezie find another song to showcase his talent? Where's the emoticon for hand-wringing when you need it?  (Don't worry, I really don't take this stuff that seriously.)
Ok...I thought last night was a big yawn. As much as I love the Beatles, it was overkill.

And, no one was exceptional. Well...Amanda was exceptionally HORRIBLE!

And...what happened to Chikezie?
Agreed. Last night was a real waste. No one was really all that good. They should've moved on and left the Beetles til next season.
I wonder if they're doing the Beatles because they are in the works to release their songs to iTunes. I'm sure it's promotional...
Most of last night was horrendous, but Amanda was the absolute WORST!! That girl really can't sing, she can only scream.

Even David Archuleta was just passable in my book. He still doesn't deserve the high praise the judges seem to heap on him every week.

One word - ugh.
I know he is everyone's darling, but David Archuleta is starting to get on my nerves. Yes, he has a lovely voice, but its a choirboys voice. I don't think he's right for this competition.
What a mess! I didn't even bother to vote. The clapping is so annoying, making if diffcult to hear the singers.
They need to get rid of that mosh pit. It's very distracting and annoying.
Yes, yes, YES!!! The screamer's GONE!!! :clappurple: I would have bet money that Kristy would be the one to go, but I actually shouted when it was announced that Amanda was the departing one this week. Oh happy day!
That bottom three was my personal bottom three.

Yes, I'm glad Amanda is gone. She was actually worse than Kristy on Tuesday.
Yeah, I figured it would be one of those two based on their performances on Tuesday. I was surprised that Carly was in the bottom three, though. She's actually pretty good. :?
I couldn't believe that Kristi didn't go. I wasn't a big Amanda fan but I don't think Kristi deserves to be in the top ten. What's with Carley in the bottom three? She is much better than a lot of the others.
I guess I have to remember to vote next week so my favorites stay alive.
Carly has very nice voice, but I think she isn't likable.
debcram wrote:

Good point, I don't know what it is about her but I agree.
When they sing together as a group it is so painful to listen to. I wish they would change that part of the show some how. Did you catch Brooke step on the other girls line?
Who's watching tonight? Will Kristi continue to sing badly and get away with it? Amanda (the rocker) was on The Today Show this morning. She really comes across as a nice person. While she'd like to stay in the music busines she was realistic. If her 15 minutes of fame are up, she says, she will go back to Indiana.
Can't decide who I want to be voted off tonight...there is so many to choose from!!!
I really didn't think there were any standouts last night. Michael Johns did well, David Cook did well, Brooke and Jason also did well.

I'm really sick of David A. He's getting on nerves being pathetic now.

Cristie's America song made me feel like I was Great America, watching an Up With People show.

And....Carly continues to turn my stomach.
Kristi's song choice was calculated very well and she did a good job. So she'll stay another week. I'm been tired of David Archeleuta(?sp) from the beginning--he can't be that naive since he won a televised talent contest a few years ago.
Loved Michael John. David Cook and Syesha did a good job, too.
While I maintain that David C gives me the creeps, he did have the best performance overall last night. :?

Michael Johns did well and I thought Brooke & Carly did a good job, too. To me, Kristi's song just dragged along. I like the song, just wasn't crazy about the performance.

I think Chickieze is going home tonight. :?
I think Chickieze is ok tonight. I think Ramiele will be going home. I think Chickieze shows more possibility than her.
Beaureguard's Mom wrote:
I think Chickieze is going home tonight. :?

I think it will be Ramiele. She's been in the bottom three before and her performance last night wasn't that good. (Too bad she was ill.)
Only caught the recap of Ramiele's song and in those few seconds, it didn't sound too bad, but I know they said she was sick. Chikezie was just bland - not bad, just bland. I liked Brooke's song even though Randy and Simon said she shouldn't have brought in the rest of the band. I thought Kristi redeemed herself pretty much, talent-wise. David C did great with that version of Billy Jean - so different! Agree about David A - he has to go before the end please! He sang a song no one knew but they praised him just the same. "I don't know the song, but you did a good job!" Ugh. Get that child off the stage please!!
So long, Chikieze. :sidestep:

I was surprised that Sayesha was in the bottom three and not Ramiele. And I was very surprised to see Jason there. I think Simon was right about him, though. He needs to step it up if he's going to stay in the competition.
Yeah, the bottom 3 surprised me too, with the exception of Chikezie. I think it really stunned Syesha to be there and Jason said he knew he would be there because he was the last to be called out. Simon's right about him, though. He needs to show he can sing something other than folksy ballads to make it all the way through. Which, of course, he won't (make it all the way through, I mean).
I liked Chikezie but I think he knew he was up against much better talent. At least he made it to the top ten and will go on the tour. Jason just is toooo laid back. He doesn't seem to want to win as much as the others do. It was funny that Carly dispelled the pregancy rumors. I had never heard that in the media but I told my husband a couple of weeks ago that I thought she looked pregnant: the baggy dresses and the width of her rear as compared to the rest of her.
That outfit she wore during the competition Tuesday night did not do her any favors in that regard.
Anybody surprised at Ramiele's departure? I thought she did okay on Tues night, but like Simon said - she's never given a WOW performance. I was surprised to see Brooke in the bottom three, though.

What are the producers thinking this year? The Beatles for 2 weeks, then a Dolly Parton night??? I would venture to guess that none of the kids ever even HEARD of any of her songs!
Heck! I've almost never heard of her songs!!!

I have to admit, I'm getting bored with it this year. I don't feel any strong attachments to any of the contestants.

I was surprised about Brooke, too. Oh well
No, I wasn't surprised that Ramiele left. :? It was time.

I :hearts: Dolly, but you're right - those kids probably had never heard any of her music.

What's next week's theme?

I agree...it's boring this year. I don't really see any standout talent that will make it long term, IMHO.
Okay, so what did everybody think of last night? Here's my take.

I tuned in too late for Michael Johns, but I hear he didn't fare too well with the judges.

Kristy Cook did great! 8) Country music appears to be her strong point.

Jason Castro did okay. :| I kinda like that version of Over the Rainbow, and I kinda don't. I'm a stickler for the right lyrics and when whoever did that version recorded it, he messed up the lyrics royally and Jason sang it the same way. Just once I would like to hear him really belt out a song. Not sure if he can.

David Cook did okay. :| I was not familiar with his song, and I thought the "Give Back" he wrote on the palm of his hand was a bit schmaltzy.

Brooke White had better start stepping it up. :? I thought she did a little less than okay, was visibly nervous. Would also like to hear her belt out a song.

I thought Syesha did really well :D but apparently the judges disagreed with me. He keeps telling the singers to be original, not to emulate the person who sang the song. But here they were comparing her to Fantasia, saying she didn't convey the same feeling. Well - do they want copycats or don't they??

Carly Smithson was borderline. :| She can sing well enough, but this was a bit over the top. I agree with the judges who said she sounded angry.

And last but not least, David Archuleta. :| Again, he's still not my cup of tea. He can sing okay, but I don't think he sings anywhere NEAR as perfect as the judges keep telling him. Still trying to figure out what they're hearing that I'm not. Are they trying to fix the competition? I don't think he'd make a very good representative of AI because he's too "aw shucks, ma'am" looking. JMHO.
I'm really tired of Idol...but found myself turning back to it. I didn't see all the performances.

I saw Carly...yes, she was VERY angry. And her story about seeing Simon was just stupid.

Dave A. (Big yawn). Go home. Yes you have a very nice little boy voice. But I think you also have a breathing problem. When he talks he sounds like he has asthema. BORING! I don't understand why the judges are so crazy about him.

David Cook..sucked. Hand message..way too staged.

Brooke (who has been my fav) was good, but just good. Simon said it best...it was like a pleasant walk in the park. She needs to wow them and soon.

Paula. PAULA! PUT YOUR BREASTS BACK IN YOUR DRESS. YOU ARE OLDER THAN YOU THINK! Oh yea...and stop telling everyone who wonderful they look.
Yep, I was worried that there would be a "wardrobe malfunction" with Paula's dress. It didn't even looked like it fit.
My vote for bottom three:
Syesha (I like her but the judges keep panning her.)
Carly-she's been there before and she just doesn't bring anything new
Brooke-like her but the performance was blah this week
Agree that Jason seems to sing in the same style EVERY week.
Never liked the Archeleta (?sp) kid. The "aw shucks" routine gets old especially since he won another televised talent contest and has to know that he has a good voice.
I agree with you both, Chris & Deb. :D

I would like to see Jason step it up a bit, too, but I don't know if he can. He's good at what he does. I just think he's limited to that genre. I didn't expect the judges to be wowed by that performance last night, though.

David Cook came across as too schmaltzy and self-important last night. Didn't like his performance at all. But, he's my least favorite, in spite of his obvious talent. There's just something about him that turns me off. :?

Kristy Cook had her best night so far. She looks fabulous and she did a great job on that song. Country music suits her voice best.

Brooke - agreed - she needs to bring it up a notch.

Carly - looked much better, but the song wasn't very good.

Sayesha was pretty good last night, too. I don't know Randy's problem was.

David A. - I just don't get it? :?
I just don't get the rave reviews for David A. His voice is good but he has no personality. But... that seems to be the unifying theme this year. No one has any personality. You would think that a guy with all of those dreadlocks would have an interesting story to tell, but he just strums his guitar/ukelele and sounds like a guy in my local coffee house. You would think that a girl with all of those tattoos would have a really interesting story, but she's completely bland. Is anyone else curious about Carly's legs? She either wears pants or opaque tights all of the time. I'll bet she has some amazing ink on her legs. I got over Michael Johns and his collection of scarves a long time ago.

The Most Boring Season of Idol Ever. I want Danny Noriega back.
I've heard talk of them bringing a "wild card" back. Bet will be Danny N. I didn't like him much, but at least he was a character!
ok, watched AI very early this morning on the DVR.

I'm going to go against the tide....I like David A..I have since night one.

As soon as I saw Brooke, I knew she was Simon's type and he would be hard pressed to say anything bad about her...so far he hasn't..at least not in his usual Simon "charming?" way.

Carly did seem to come across angry, for whatever reason. Which is too bad.

David Cook...not to good last night...he should have pick a better song. Next week will be better. Tammy, I agree with you about something about him turning you off, I feel the same way.

Sayesha-I thought she did really well.

Kristy Cook indeed was her best night....country is her style.

Jason did really well, I thought. Hey, he is staying true to his style, as the judging keep saying. (I must say the whole time I listened to him I was thinking about Stacey's Tucker...that was his memorial tribute song :( )

I get so tired of Randy saying that every song is "pitchy", Gee, Randy did you get tired of everyone being a "dog"? Please drop the "pitchy" comments they don't mean anything coming from you anymore.

As soon as the judges start talking about your clothes or how nice you look, you know you are doomed.

I have not picked a favorite yet, and what all of you have said is true...a little boring so far.
What happened last night!!!! (April 10) 8O The results were totally unexpected. I won't have as much interest in watching since my favorite is gone. So many of the ones left have a lot less talent and just aren't as charismatic.
I was really surprised too. I sometimes just don't get it! Its like when Chris Dougtry was voted off.
I missed the show, but from the review I just read, Ryan was a jerk in the way he presented the results.

I'm shocked that Michael is gone. 8O
I was surprised that Michael got the boot, too. And Ryan was a first class jerk about it. After he announced that Michael had gotten the fewest votes, he said something like, "Last year at this time (right after Idol Gives Back) we didn't eliminate anyone. This year (pause, for effect), we're saying good-bye to Michael." SO rude.

Please let Carly or David A be next!!

Amen to that!
I came home late last night and so only saw a few singers. How does everything think they did?
It was painfully obvious that the producers want a girl to go home. They praised all of the guys and ragged on all of the girls. I honestly believe that Carly and Brooke were the worst of the bunch last night, but the judges also gave bad reviews to Kristy and Syesha.

ETA - and it was Mariah Carey night, so that made it difficult for me. I'm not a MC fan and wasn't familiar with most of the songs.
The judges all raved about David Cook. I think one of the girls will go next.
I missed most of it too. When we got home, Jason was singing. I was shocked that Simon liked it. 8O So, I only got to see the re-cap at the end really. Couldn't tell much from that how anybody did. :?
Well, it wasn't much of a surprise that she left, but I still like Kristi Lee. They were talking about her on the country radio station I listen to this morning and saying that even though she's not really a standout talent, some record label will give her a chance and see what she can do. :?
Kristi Lee had been in the bottom three sooo many times that it is a wonder that she lasted as long as she did. But, I agree, she could still end up with a career in country music. My husband predicts that the final two will be the two Davids.
3 degrees of separation! D'uh...why hadn't I noticed this before?!

David Archuletta
David Cook
Christy Lee Cook!

Things that make you go Hmmmmm?
I was sad to see Kristy go, even though it wasn't a shock. I STILL want the next one to go to be either Carly or David A.

I felt the same way...easy on the guys and really to harsh on the girls.

I was hoping that Brooke would be the one that went instead of Kristie Lee. Brooke has only really had one good night. the "Let it Be" night. Her trueself is shining through, once you get past the blonde hair, pretty face and smile, her talent is far less then the girls remaining including Kristie Lee. Brooke knows how to work the judges (Simon) with her looks but you have to have the talent to back them and she doesn't....as Simon is finding out.

If you look at the history of AI the girls that come in with two toned hair or tatoos usually don't end up near the top. So Carley will be out soon. No matter what Sayesta does or how good she is the judges are never happy. I think the judges have each picked who they want to win and will make comments so that the public will pick the ones the judges want.

At this point it really is a popularity contest.
Oneward to next week. :)
Helen, I agree with you 100%. The Judges are backing their "horse"...and no matter how well any of the others do, they will not be given the credit and praise they deserve.

Which is why I made the decision not to watch this year.
One word describes tonight's show - BORING!!!

I find it funny that one of Simon's pet criticisms is to tell the kids they sound like a broadway show, so what theme do they pick for tonight? Andrew Lloyd Weber - the king of Broadway shows!!

I thought Syesha and David Cook did the best. Brooke was weak. Jason did his usual laid-back routine and it really didn't go over well. I didn't catch Carly's performance - I can only hope it was bad. And again, Randy praised David Archuleta like he's the greatest singer in the history of the world, and how "he's the one to beat!!!" Huh?? I thought he did okay, but nothing spectacular. Thankfully, Simon agreed with me.

I really don't know why I keep watching this. It truly is not a spectacular cast this year.
I caught an episode of AI Rewind the other night - the finale between Clay and Reuben. They had a group number where the whole top 10 were singing. I think any one of the kids from that season were better than this entire bunch. Maybe its time for AI to pack it up.
Carly did great and got praise from the judges, even Simon if you can believe that.

Jason did stay true to himself in his performance.

I so hope that Brooke gets voted out tonight...we'll see.
I watched, even though I've given up on this show, only because I love Andrew Lloyd Weber.

What a disaster! Yeshah was very good. David Cook was good considering this is not his venue. And as much as I HATE to say it, Carly was good (ugh, I'm choking on that!) David A. is such a BORE. Please send him home and put me outta my misery!
I only caught Sayesha's performance last night, but she was pretty good. As much as I enjoy Broadway musicals, I had a feeling it would not be a good idea for this show.

I agree with y'all, this season is a real snoozer.
YIPPEE!!!! :excited: Although by all accounts she sang well on Tuesday, I was thrilled to see Carly go!! I was very surprised to see Syesha in the bottom two again, though, because she also did very well on Tuesday. Guess she just doesn't have a strong enough backing to keep her out of danger.
Never liked Carly but the whole program has turned into a popularity contest. No way that Jason should still be there.
Agreed! I thought for sure he'd be the next to leave. Either he or Brooke - neither one of them did very well. Did you see the look of shock on Brooke's face when she was told she was safe? Even SHE expected to go home.

Did you hear who next week's mentor will be? Neil Diamond!!! Why are they picking at the bottom of the barrel every week??
I so wanted Brooke to go last night.

AI is a popularity contest at this time....I think Sayesha will be out next week, which is too bad because she does have talent, more then Brooke does. Oh well, on to next week.

I like Jason also, but figured he would be in the bottom two last night...lucky boy made it out.

I think the two Davids will be in the final 3...not sure who the third one will be...probably Brooke

That is what my husband predicts. I think Sayesha will have a nice career; not so certain about Carly.
I thought it would be Jason gone, too. I was surprised that it was Carly. It's a popularity contest every year, though. I like Jason, but he's not the most talented on there. I don't like David Cook, but he does have the talent.

I don't get it. Two weeks of the Beatles, Dolly Parton, ALW, Neil Diamond? Songs from the year you were born? What in the world are these producers really looking for?

I feel bad for these kids. Why not let them sing the kind of music that they actually listen to? They don't even know most of the songs they're being forced to sing.
Bailey's Mom wrote:

Yeah, but the people watching do! You've got to play to the crowd.
I really expected more from the contestants at this time of the show. I am sure it is diffecult getting two songs ready though.

Brooke: I agreed with Simon, the first song was a nightmare, but she did very well with the second song.

David Cook: Did well will both songs

David A: Also did well with both songs.

Sayesha: she sang beautifully and I can't figure out why she ends up in the bottom so often. She is talented and will have a great career ahead of her, but she won't win AI.

Jason: Last week and this week it is like he knows he is not going to win so is trying to "throw" the game. You can almost read "to heck with it. I want out" on his face. He may be voted out tonight.
In past seasons, I was upset if I missed an episode (we don't have TiVo). But this season, it's just like - eh, so what?

I caught bits and pieces last night and wasn't really blown away by any of them. Still can't see what the big deal is about David A. You would think Randy has a personal financial stake in his future the way he carries on about him.

I agree about Syesha. She has a 10x better voice than Brooke, but she keeps ending up in the bottom. Of course, it doesn't help that Simon says stupid things like - I think you're gonna be in trouble this week!
I was disappointed too.

I think Syesha isn't do well, because she doesn't have a big fan base. Too bad, she is very talented.

Jason just doesn't seem to care.

Brooke...I like her. But she won't go all the way.

David A...OH MY GOSH! I'M SOOOOO SICK OF HIM! Send him back to school!

David C. I don't like his type of music, but I believe he is the most talented of the bunch.
Jason is still there because he's cute.

Sayesha is talented enough to win it, but she won't.

David or David will win and I'm not enthralled with either one of them.

Brooke needs to go home tonight.
Agree with other posters: Jason just doesn't seem to have the will to win.
But, he must have a huge fan base so who knows who will go tonight.
Unfortunately, I think it will be Syesha.
Jason has his TX fans voting for him!!!! He is so not cute. 8) Saying he has a "well hell with it" attitude around him is SO TRUE! That's exactly how what I felt last night watching him. His dreads have to go. Makes the top of his head look so flat and awful. 8O

I enjoyed Brooke's second song (who I never enjoyed in the past) and Cook last night.
Well it looks like Jason't Texas Fan base pulled him through again. He looked very surprised.

Brooke FINALLY is gone. I was surprised. I thought she was going to squeak by.

Syesha seemed surprised to have made it through one more week.
I was sad to see Brooke go (although I think her race was run a couple weeks ago).

I'm glad Syesha is still there. I hope she stays a bit long.

Its Jason's time to go. And I still am NOT impress at all with David Arch. UGH!

If it turns out (like most people are predicting) to be the Davids, I will vote for the first time this season for Cook. "Archie" gives me the creeps
.
Although I was a bit sad to see Brooke go, it really was her time. I thought it would be Jason who went, but I don't think he'll be around much longer than another week. On top of not really being that talented, he just looks like such a space cadet - where am I? Who am I? What am I doing here? La-de-da, la-de-da.

David A definitely has to go. He's okay, but I really don't see what the judges (supposedly) see. His vocal range is pretty limited, he's pretty stiff on stage. He looks like he's 12 (gaps between his teeth make him look like his adult teeth need to come in yet, he kind of bounces when he walks). I just can't see him achieving the level of success that other Idol winners have.

I hope Syesha keeps getting stronger because I really feel she has the best voice. David Cook is good too, and the popularity contest that is American Idol would see him win over her, but I would love to see her in the top two instead of David A.

Amen, sister!

 yes, and it annoys me!!
Sad to see Brook go but it was time. Wouldn't it be a hoot if the final two were Jason and David Cook!! Wouldn't it be something if Jason lasted longer than "Archie"!!
Considering I'm rootin' for him, yes!!! But David A is such a cutiepatootie (equals more fans ...on top of the fact he's better than jason).
