try a different food without the grains...change her over slowly though.
any recommendations on food she doesnt seem to be very interested in her pedigree puppy at all she destroys her bowl of chicken in seconds and doesnt leave a bit i want her to eat lots as she is a growing girl but is it good to have her on chicken and rice all the time did scrammbled egg with dog biscuits the other day she loved that to
you need to make sure she doesn't have other parasites as well. I have gotten a puppy with coccidia and that gives them a loose stool - also is not affected by worming.
she went to the vet today for a check up and last booster he seemed happy with her health etc
I feed Canidae all life stages. It is only slightly less protien than pro plan puppy which is what we started with. It has no corn, soy, or wheat. I usually mix it with a bit of warm water. I also put a little bacon grease in sometimes. These guys can be fussy eaters...usually are from my experience. I have a female now that would eat anything, but she is the first one out of 6 that I have had that wasn't fussy.
are these foods avalible from pet shops or are they specialist where in the uk the pro plan seems to be popular just want her to have a good diet and grow health
I am not sure where they make Canidae, but I would check pet food and feed stores if you have them there. See what is available in the U.K. and compare ingredients...that would be the best way. Good Luck and post some baby pics!!!
thank you will look tommorrow to see what i can find there are pics coming soon she has a pure white face and and pretty blue eyes and jet black pigment so the weekend there should be so photos posted up here
just found this thread now...when we had Summer she was on James wellbelove puppy but after a few weeks she got runs. If I was you I would go to a local pet shop and get one of the really good dry dog foods, nutro, wellbelove, canin, mine is on burns. But, it is hard to get so we have to make sure we dont run out. If she is eating chicken or whatever she is on at the moment mix quarter of the new with 3 quarters of what ever she is on. It is recommended you feed good quality food for at least first year until their bones are developed. There are quite a few chicken based ones, but try to steer clear of supermarket dry dog foods as when you start researching them and analysing them they are rubbish. hope this helps.
yes it does thank you very much its just hard to get it right is it better to have her on biscuits or meat at the moment shes on a 50 , 50 , mix
where are you in the Uk?
we are in devon
lovely part of the uk.
my last 2 dogs have not been brought up on tinned and I am so pleased much less smelly!
im gonna keep her away from the tinned and take some good advice i have from here and go to the put store and look at what they have think i will still try and use fresh chicken and rice and she likes that and add other bits to it thanks again for all the help been brilliant
when i lived in the uk we feeed einy burns he had a really bad tummy all the time and we found it hard to get him to keep food down and he had runny stools for most of his first year. untill we found burns 18 months on burn and hes a different dog. we could not give him treats they upset him to much but now we can its great!

we can't get it where i am in the states so he just being fed a gerneral chicken and rice all natural food and doing great. we tried a different one with the coloured bits in and he was going four times a day all hours of the night as well so back to all naturall chicken and rice formula.

if she has sensitive tummy then nutro do a sensitive one for when she is older. i used nutro when i could not get the burns so i recomend either.

zoe and einy
im gonna try find the burns stuff as it seems to be a good choose i will let you know if i have any luck with it
Hi and congratulations to your new friend, if I understand properly she has two blue eyes or china eyes, your breeder gave you some good advice with the chicken and rice although we we feed our dogs after they have had upset tummy we feed them 4 small meals chicken rice and cottage cheese spread over the day. A good dry food is Eukanuba or James Wellbeloved. :D :D :D
i might try that at the moment she has about 2 big meals and some snacks in between if shes good i have the canine food as given to me to try at the vets not sure if shes to keen though
If it helps to know, our new puppy Poppy, on the breeders recommendation, is on Eukanuba puppy and junior lamb & rice which she really enjoys. I have ordered it online here in the UK from Pet Supermarket as the 3kg bags are on offer right now at half price (I have stocked up - the sell by date is not until Feb 09 so there's plenty of time to use it up!) But whatever you do, introduce any new food gradually as ktb said unless you want the 'runs' to continue! good luck!
We went to get our 7 month old Summer Burns yesterday. The pet food place had a big bag of mini bites but according to Burns she should be on an adult one now and canine extra. The yorkie should be on Burns mini bites! So that is 3 different sorts. I ended up buying Canine extra (Burns), £17 bag for sheepie. I shall have to get yorkie small bag of puppy bites in the week. I wonder if yorkie would eat one of the adult versions? I find the dry food really really confusing. If you go in one shop they recommend Nutro, another swear by Canin and the vets swear by Hills. screech! 8O
Hi KTB, at seven months your sheepie should be under no circumstances on adult food as they are still growing they need the additives in the puppy food, giving them an occasional meal of adult food will not harm them.

If you feed them only on the adult food this can interfere with their growth and cause serious health problems in later years. If your breeder gave you some advice when you purchased the puppy you should follow this advice.

I would not take a young dog of puppy or junior food until they are at least 12 months old although 15 months is better, remember not to overfeed the young dog and control his growth through the amount of food you give him.

As far as the shops are concerned, the recommendations they give regards the supplier who is making the best offer at the time of your visit, vets tend to tie themselves to a perticular food and only recommend that brand, saying that Hills is a good brand of food.

I will repeat what I wrote earlier, we feed Eukanuba and we have had absolutely no problems with this brand, in fact I maintain it has helped her to become a Multi-champion
