Disaster!!!

   I had just finished decorating the tree last evening. It looked very pretty" silver, white and gold with ornaments I hadn't used for a few years due to moving etc. Notice the past tense!!! I was going to post a picture now that I'm getting the hang of the new camera. :( I had just finshed doing my hair and laying out clothes. A friend and I are going to dinner and a concert tonight. My plan was to write another chapter of the Christmas story before doing my nails and taking Willoughby for a second walk when CRASH...thump...thump...thump! 8O

I quickly surveyed the whereabouts of the usual suspects: Bentley was napping in his pen behind baby gates. Percy was with me, asleep in his chair in my office. that left: EDWINA!!! You guessed it: the tree was down, smashed ornaments all over the place. :twitch:I ran over in bare feet: not too smart with the broken glass, swept it all up, righted the tree, turned my back and down it came again smashing more ornaments! Curses! Edwina has never touched a tree before, the usual culprits where mischief is concerned are either Willoughby or Percival. Woe is me!

Oh no, I am so sorry! Just when you thought it was safe.
not once but twice???????

still should have taken a picture! :? :D
8) Like lightening: don't believe it never strikes twice! Good news: the lights work. Will tackle the mess tomorrow. I have a picture of it on the floor, also a picture of the culprit!
Maybe that's more like the real first Christmas...Jesus was born in a stable...I'm sure that wasn't a pretty sight either. (I guess it was a good thing Edwina wasn't there at the first Christmas, or there might not have been another!)
I'm so sorry for your tree, hope nothing precious got broken :(
OH NO! I can sure relate! Hope all is well now.
I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had a tree in 20 years that I didn't TIE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's just too risky.
I can totally related too. I had an X-mas tree come down twice in one night. The first time it was my fault, I was trying to straighten the tree.
The second time it just fell....of course it happened after I had everything back on the tree and perfect again.

Sorry about your loss of your ornaments. :(
Sorry to hear about your Christmas tree accident. It sounded beautiful. I'll be looking forward to seeing you pics when uploaded. :D
Totally off topic but Lynda, your Merlin is the exact same color as my Bob! Bob is half Quarterhorse and half TB. And he'll be 24 next month!

Sorry about your tree. Is Edwina a sheepie also?
Oh NO!! That has been my fear since my tree went up last week. I'm so sorry yours fell.
Oh I am so sorry about the tree.

Winston has never touched anything on the tree. Thank goodness.

But I sure you had fun redecorating it.

Now it will be done and the tree will be extra beautiful!

Mary
:D Many thanks for cheering me up! I went to a Christmas concert with a friend and dinner before last evening. The tree is still where it fell. I decided to sort it out today. Some of the ornaments that got smashed were bought in San Diego Old town. Now, I'll just have to go back for a Holliday!

Edwina is a 12 year 0ld Maine coon cat, very serious and proper. It was most unlike her to do anything naughty! the boys are smirking! 8)

Merlin is a 25 yera old Arabian gelding: he can trace his ancestry back on both sides to the foundation sire of his line: Skowronek.(sp) a Polish Arabian stallian. He has had serious health problems: I will post in another thread after the tree is sorted out! :(

It's been years since a tree fell over: I think I may still have been married at the time. I was supposed to get bricks at noon to weight the base and I forgot. I have a picutre of it on the floor and will take another when it is restored ! Stay tuned! :D
if it makes you feel an ounce better, here is a story for you....

1984 ... 2 weeks before Christmas

I stayed home from school...I was running a high fever and my right side hurt terribly....I was moaning and groaning, curled up in my bed....My twin sister went to school and told everyone that i was ''faking'' it, since i was moaning..

My mom was all afluster with the holidays...so many errands, so little time....

We had just gotten a golden retriever puppy the week before..Chanel...little monster Chanel LOVED to pull out the babys breath that my mom put in the tree....

Mom asked me if i could please watch the dog for an hour while she took todd to the orthodontist....soooo, im laying on the sofa...pain to my abdomen is getting worse....all of sudden i hear a crash.....Chanel had pulled over the whole 8'0'' tree...so what is a sick girl to do?? call mom at the orthos...of course she starts yelling at me that i wasnt watching the dog..etc....

long story short....my dad had to rush me to the hospital later that night for an emergency appendectomy...while my sister and brother put the tree back together!!

8O Oh my goodness!!! that is some story, Darcy!

Well, the tree is back up, the broken ornaments and dust cleaned up, two guy wires middle and bottom of the trunk and two heavy bricks, double wrapped as anchors: I will redecorate this evening as I sip rum and eggnogg!

Meantime, After 6 years, I'm finally taking a stained glass dining-room chandelier to be repaired! I have been galvanised into action by the tree! Cheers!
