Armpit knots!

How do you prevent the little knots that sheepies get in their armpits? I understand that there is a lot of rubbing between walking/running and laying down...but help!

I just keep there armpits shaved. You can't tell unless there on there back and it's just not worth the hassel, for me anyway. I dunno what the conformation dogs do?
I cut ours real short
When I used to keep Violet in a puppy cut, I always had the groomer shave her underbelly so I did not have to deal with the matting there. You can't tell most of the time that she was even shaved. It worked for her and it worked for me.
Good luck.
Yup, just chop it off. It's one of those spots that you'll never even notice the difference on. Unless you're showing, there's a lot of areas that are just easier to cut down than wrestle with!
If I let Rheba grow out some and clip/shave her belly, is it noticable? I wouldn't imagine that it would be but I don' t know...

If you have a good groomer, it really is not noticable.
We have had it done in the summer to be cooler and still look like the dog has coat. A skilled groomer can blend the hair so you don't notice.

No it is not noticable at all. I do this to Violet. Much easier upkeep.
Oliver's belly is shaved too. It keeps him cooler, and I have much less to brush. You can't tell, until he rolls over on his back that is...
On the rare occasion that Tasker has long hair I too keep the armpits shaved.
Our groomer did this and it help alot - time to do it again. Also she did a similar thing by the ears to keep those knots down. This was another trouble area for us.
The ears and the armpits are the 2 areas that are the biggest problem with me. DId they just thin the hair by the ears?
The groomer thinned and strategically shaved under and around her ears. You can only really tell if you lift up her ear but it help me with this trouble area.
Shaved the belly and up to between the front legs. Then scissored the rest to blend it in.
