Craving a pupppy

We had to let our Our dear Daisy Dog go over the rainbow bridge about 2 years ago, and now I am craving a new OES. She was our 4th sheepdog. Dudley preceded her over the bridge about 5 years ago.

I am very nervous now about finding a good healthy pup now. We moved from So. California to a farm in Kentucky, so I am not familiar with any good breeders.

We have been through Entropia with our 2nd dog, Annie, severe allergies and rashes with Dudley, and then Daisy developed diabetes in her old age requiring daily insulin injections.

Through all of the work of training, bathing, and devotion, my husband and I still feel it was all worth it.

We currently have 2 Great Pyrenees (outside dogs- they get too hot inside!) They are great dogs, but aren't as affectionate as an OES. I miss having the big fur-person cuddling up in bed with me and racing me to get into the bathtub!

My brain says I'm too crazy to start again, but my heart says yes.

Am I crazy, or just still missing my fur-kids - or both?

I don't think your crazy...having a OES is such fun...IMO there is no other dog as fun, as challenging, as fulfilling and a LOVING..............I got my 2nd OES, Heart in August, she is 6months old.....and the fun is just beginning

You'll get great advice here.....good luck!!!!!
Welcome to the forum Kate, here is a link for breeder referall from the OESCA. It lessens the chances of an OES with problems by purchasing a pup from breeders that have done all the necessary steps beforehand, before producing a litter.

Go with your heart, the brain will play tricks but your heart is always true. If a sheepie your desire then no other breed will do This is my first and I can say I will always have one.
Go for it, there is a sheepie puppy out there somewhere just waiting for you to be his Mum! Dont let the poor little darling down!
I too agree....I grew up with goldens and wouldnt trade my one sheepie for 400 goldens.....will never NOT have one again!!
Nah, you aren't crazy, you've healed enough to be ready again. I lost my Daisy earlier this year and several months later got 2 little boys, that may be crazy . Welcome, somebody here can answer any question you can think of,
Yes, go with your heart! :hearts: We got Charlie, our 3rd Old English, 6 month ago and we always will have another one!!
go for it you know you want to......
good luck with your search
Go for a sheepie. I never knew anything about them until I met my wife \, she had one and said that they, her and Syd, came as a package. They are truly wonderful dogs. However, I am honest enough to realize that on this forum you should not expect to hear otherwise. Good Luck.
Welcome from Sunny and Chilly (at the same time) Arizona. Good luck in your search. Can't wait to see your new puppy. Merry Christmas. :D
