Jeans recommendations

I need to buy new jeans. Nice jeans that I can wear out. I want dark wash. Not tapered legs. No fading, etc., that would draw attention to my big butt. Some Spandex. Prefer no pockets or belt loops. I am built like a woman--my waist is smaller than my hops (not by much, but it is smaller). All jeans that are "low rise" end up with a giant gap at the waist if I get them to fit my hips. I like jeans that come up at least to my navel (hey, I'm an old lady!).

Anyone have recommendations? I would pay up to $100 if they are quality.

I have a great pair of Donna Karan jeans that do everything that you are talking about but they do have pockets and loops. But that's because they are cool! Are you serious, no pockets or loops?
I don't wear belts and pockets (front or side pockets) bulge and make my hips look bigger. Back pockets are o.k.

I could live with pockets if the rest of the jeans met my specs. Where does one buy Donna Karan jeans? (and did you see her on Project Runway last night?? She's scary looking).
No back pockets usually make your butt look bigger (since it's just one big canvas), back pockets are good!

edit- just saw your post. If you don't like the bulkiness of front pockets get jeans with pockets that don't stick out on the side and you can take the inside material, cut it, and sew it up so it is just a pocket illusion.
Gap has some nice darker jeans, but you have to try on a million of them to find the right fit. I don't know if they still have them, but I wanted to get my mom a pair of jeans that didn't look like 'mom' jeans, so after watching Oprah I took her to the Gap to get their Long and Lean jeans. And after trying on several, she found 'the' pair and they looked fabulous.

Oh, and I've never tried them, nor has my mom, but at Nordstrom they have a brand called Not Your Daughter's Jeans, which are supposed to be good.
I was going to say the Gap too!! They have a huge variety and the prices are fantastic!!!!!!!! I love my boy cut straight legs....not super low rise just below the belly button and straight leg.....

although, i want to remind you that a small flare on the leg of jeans will help balance you out if you have hips...you just dont want the leg too tight thru the thigh.....

also, i was at white house/black market and they have some seriously nice DARK stretchey jeans....i bought a pair....
What about Faded Glory or Jordache? Maybe some Calvin Kleins?

Ron, I love you but you really are not helping any.... 8)
OK, the proper answer is:

You'll either have to go and try them on, or mail-order a bunch of different brands and sizes from a company that has a liberal return policy.

I like Guess, but prefer Sergio Valente.
You might want to try a place like Lands End or LL Bean. They seem to offer some options on various cuts and you they will also do custom hemming to whatever your leg length is.
I found some Lees at Sears that are straight leg with spandex. But they do have pockets, although I do not think that they stick out.
I think Banana Republic makes very nice jeans. They are not low rise, look sophisticated, are instyle, and of good quality.

*sigh* Ron, was the last time you bought jeans 1983? And in the women's department?
I like to wear comfortable jeans with the material that is not too heavy or stiff. I would suggest trying Ralph Lauren jeans. They sell the strechy type and they are so comfortable and cozy. I have a few pairs in dark blue and they wash wonderful and you can put them in the dryer without them shrinking. And you can always find them on sale.

The Long and Lean jeans are awesome. They're my favorite of all my jeans. The legs are actually long enough for me and taper and pop at the right places. I just got a nice trouser pair from there not too long ago, too.

Lol. Yup, he found them right behind the Jordache but next to the Gloria Vanderbilts. :)

Jeans are such a tough thing to recommend since everyone's body is so different and we all have different fit needs. To me, I think it's all a matter of luck most of the time!

Girls/Women didn't/don't buy jeans for the way they feel, but for the way they look.

I was basing my judging on the same criteria. ;)

...and I have a good memory. :D
When I read the title of this thread I was wondering who "JEAN" was? I thought it was going to be recommendations by Jean - like Oprah's Favorite Things.

Okay - now - about those jeans...Paula I like Sigrid Olson's jeans, too. Good luck finding the right pair. Shopping for great jeans is a challenge!
Hi Paula,
I saw this on MSN today and thought of you. Personally I'd go with the Joe's jeans.

Great info! Thanks.
I was going to say Gap too. I love Gap! I am not so girly so I don't have patience to shop - unless my sister is dragging me along.

The other day I went to gap, straight to the jeans picked up 4 trousers, tried them on, bought one of them and I was out of the store in 20 minutes!!! :go: It fits perfectly, it's comfy and it looks good.
I'm short I look for jeans I don't have to cut heaps off the bottom of them.

Also ones that are comfortable as I live in Jeans and Tracky daks.
