A couple of months ago I bought an Oester Stand dryer.....I paid alot for it, but haven't set it up yet...   A few groomers on this forum recommended it.

There are a couple topics you may want to look at under :Grooming that have a couple of different dryers.
and perhaps some recommendations on where to buy such product.
me too, me too, i have been thinking of one to.
Oster High Velocity Stand Dryer

Air Volume – 117 CFM
Air Speed – 3,696 FPM
Air Temperature – 70° - 140°
Motor – 14 Amps, 1,680 Watts, 110/120 Volts
Warranty – 1-year

PetEdge.com has this for about $380.00 w/o shipping cost

Hope this helps....

I have also been told I will need to get a good grooming table...I have been looking, but have not found one yet!!!!!
I actually bought a grooming table on ebay. cost 10 dollars but cost me 70 to ship to Nova Scotia. But still cheaper than buying here.
we have the orange air force metro I think it is called). it blows the water off more than drying the hair. It can be used in the crate or otherwise. I use it when they are still in the tub to blow off most of the water. It was less than $150.
I have a Simpson Stand dryer from the UK, it was expensive but over the years it has paid off with the amount of use it gets.

Most important is to have a dryer with a metal case rather then plastic they last forever then as the metal casing never deteriates.

A friend of mine has an old "Beacon" metal case stand dryer and has had it for 40 years and in all that time only once has she had the motor reconditioned and it still works great.

So looking at a dryer, another friend had a Liberty and it was plastic casing and over the years did not last. At least with the metal casings you can over the years have the motor reconditioned at a cheaper price (rather then buying a whole new dryer) and popped back into a metal dryer that you have forever.

So worthwhile investment to get one with a metal casing.
My stand dryer is old, blue and metal. The brand is Speedy Dryer by Rapid Electric. In Mt Vernon, NY. I don't know if they even are in business anymore - the company was "established in 1933" ! I just had a new cord put on it, and it works like a charm. Stand dryers are very handy.

LeAnne has the orange Air Force Metro - for $99. For the price and light weight it is a wonderful dryer. Metal housing too.

Also, just as they end up in the same discussion frequently - I just ordered LeAnne a grooming table (I kept our old one) and got a cute one in PINK! (They came pink or blue) and they were only $75 dollars - with arm and noose. The best part - besides the color - is that it is 33" tall. Many are only 30" and too short for LeAnne. I ordered it from PetEdge.
OOOO a taller table! Mine is too tall to sit at, too short to stand at. Wonder if my husband really wants to know what I want for Christmas? :sidestep:
I use the Oster Hi Velocity stand dryer....and love it! We got it last year from petedge (around $300) and can't believe how much easier it is to bath & dry the dogs.

Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Sharkey
My dream dryer is the K9 III.... lol, yeah right.... someday....
This Portable Air Force Pet Dryer is wonderful...love it :D

Not enough force :(
Thought it would be good for travel
Diane...a waste of $$
I dunno about shopping at petedge -- they sell products for resale and when they recall them they don't do it publicly....

Too bad, really. They used to be a real and responsible company when they were "New England Serum."

I agree this one is great. I don't think we got it from pet edge though - it is available at many online stores.
I got the Air Force Metro as well and I LOVE IT. I have used my breeder's stand dryer for Bing as well but I think this one worked just as quickly and it is only 3 lbs!
I have an old blue metal speedy dryer, I bought from a guy who used to show afghans, I absolutely love it, and am actually looking for a second one. If anyone has one for sale let me know please :D

I hope this table was for Martha! Leanne is not planning on putting poor Claiborne up there, right? Just what he needs - the other sheepdog boys making snide "Pretty In Pink" remarks. As if he doesn't have enough self-esteem issues!!! 8O

Nice price. Keep me posted on the quality.

How long does it take to use a professional dryer (as opposed to a regular blow dryer) on a dog with about 2"+ of hair?
Spacegirl21,

I've posted on dryers many times. If you click on my user profile icon and then click on "find all posts" you'll be able to pull them up. I have discussed the benefits of a "dryer" versus a those of a "blower" so you can evaluate which would suit you better and also indicated why a professional dryer is so much better than a good "human" hair dryer. As well I've made some recommedations for their use and maintenace them.

If you need further information don't hesitate to ask, either in open forum or by PM.

Thanks and Cheers

Carl

Well, they will have to share it!
The pink was for LeAnne mostly. And also to tell it apart at shows.
It came quick, and seems decent. It is really pink!!
The taller height is noticable, so LeAnne loves it already. The legs and table surface are nice - looks similar to your new blue one. The arm and clamp seem sturdy, but the noose is pretty cheesy (oops - not cheesy to the person in Wisconsin!)
It will get it's 1st show workout in January, so we will know more soon. :D

How do you like that table? I've been debating a new one and am waiting for your review of the this one, Apparently not all OES are Suzi/Toby sized and one of these days I'll be expected to show a "grown up" sized sheepdog and I'll be needing a bigger table!
We haven't toted it to a show yet, but LeAnne has used it for grooming Clay, and I trimmed her brother's Min Pin's nails on it on Christmas Day.
LeAnne has a bump out in her kitchen by the back door - too little of a space to fit a dining table. We found that it is a perfect little grooming room. So she has it set up there all the time, with her tack box under it. It has been handy to have it there and put the dogs on it for grooming, nails, any misc. stuff.

It seems like a regular table - so I think the good price is a deal. It is 33" tall, mine is 30". The extra 3 inches taller is real nice too - I am short (5'4") and even liked it. LeAnne is 5' 10", so she LOVES it!
Tell me about the K9 III.
I just got a dog dryer from e-bay and they still have more. It is great and great prices. item # to have a looky at is 230220866027. He has around 5 left and a few cage ones. Brand new and powerful.
thank you. I will check it out.
