When does the adult coat change happen and more...

Simon is getting mats on top of mats and its driving me crazy. He's in a short cut and he's NOT supposed to get mats. It doesn't help that he's in the tub every other week because he gets down and dirty, and muddy, and full of burrs. I finally went and bought a matt splitter, not the blade kind, more of a small brush and that helps(to keep him still, I had to buy a new tasty bone). He's going in for a grooming and I'm wondering if I can get him thinned because his hair is SOOOOOOO thick and I'm hoping this will help with the matts. Next question is: will he look bad if I get his legs cut short? We have snow coming and I remember last year when he came in looking like a snowman. For those of you who get snow you know the look...one giant snowball covered sheepie.

Mats suck! My groomer strips out Oscar's undercoat when he gets shaved, and now Oscar only gets mats on his ears, which we leave full. Even with no undercoat, he still has plenty of fur for the winter, without all the mats.

Uh, yeah - he'll look kind of out of balance.

If you'd like, I'll try to convince Amy to give us both a lesson in how to keep a dog short, yet looking gorgeous (she's a whiz with clippers) and Part II - how to survive the dreaded COAT CHANGE.

I HATE coat changing time.

Let me know.

Hey! We still need to get together, hopefully with Barkley and some other local OES pups, for an OES dog park gathering.

I'm entered in rally next weekend and the last weekend in December but...?
