lost Buddy

Can I post a picture of my lost Old English Sheepdog here? We are in Texas. He was lost on Thursday night around 8:00pm 10/14/2004. Last night someone says that she saw a big black Old English Sheepdog in an old gray station wagon with all of its windows rolled down. The dog was standing and occupied the whole row of the back seat with his head out. I hope it wasn't Buddy. Is there a lot of big black Old English Sheepdog in Texas? (Buddy is Black and White. At first she couldn't remember the White. I showed her the picture of Buddy and asked her to please look at it closely. She says she thinks there's some white also, then she says she's pretty sure there's some white. But she remembered most of being a big black Old English Sheepdog).

Definitely, post away! Lets find him!
Could you tell us what town in Texas? How old is he?
I like your attitudes!
How do I post Buddy's pictures?
His is 2 1/2 years old going on 3 in Janurary.
We live in the suburb of Dallas, Texas.
There's a thread with instructions on how to upload pictures, if you need assistance, let us know.

We live next to El Paso, TX... I'll keep and eye on our local shelters just in case.

Hope we can find him soon!
It sounds complicated to post a picture. The Buddy picture is stored in my hotmail email address. Could this be transfered and then posted?
Send it to me and I'll post it for you.

Excuse me Jil; didn't mean to ask for Floofdog's email. How shall I forward Buddy's picture to you?
What is a user name and password?
Thanks!

Dear St. Anthony of lost & found, Buddy is lost and must be found......

Keep the Faith!

Yes, I contacted, spoke, and emailed photos of Buddy to the nice Texas OES Rescue, talked and handed photos of Buddy to the local police station and gave two to our mailman. I've called and visited the local shelters and vets. Put his photos at the local Petsmart and Petco. Buddy is also listed in the Dallas Morning news classified, The Green Sheet, Petfinder, Lost and Found, and currently hiring Petfinderalert to find him. There's so many signs of Buddy in town that the Code Enforcement Officer had written me a citation about too many signs posted and had to take them all down. I think it was consider a class c misdemeanor(?).

With all this, I think I still have not done enough. I don't think Buddy is in town.

Sometimes I don't think I'll ever see him again and get angry. Sometimes I think maybe I will and hope he is in a good place. But it's gotta be a miracle from God.

It was so nice to hear about Jule's story.
While I read your latest posting, I can feel your sorrow in your written voice. I am so deeply sorry for you at the loss of Buddy. His photo shows a happy and well adjusted animal. I can not tell you how I would feel if I lost my Tyler or my Kiera.

I had one more idea that you might try. I would send a fax or take a poster to all the vets offices you can find in your local phone book. Make it look like an ALERT and as professional as you can. Is Buddy micro chipped? Put anything that would distinquish him and health issues anything. I have also heard that if you mention that the dog is ill and needs medications (expensive) you may get him back. I would try every trick I could think of too. You might also send faxes to vet offices in towns that surround where you live.

It sounds like you have really blanketed the area and tried every thing, I just thought this might be one more thing you could try.

I had a dog once that ran away all the time, a dumb Irish Setter! Anyway, one time he had been gone for a about a month or more. I was on graveyard shift and driving home one day I noticed a lady with a dog that looked just like my O'Mally. I stopped and was talking to her and mentioned how much he looked like my boy, when she asked how long he had been gone, I told her and she said, oh, my son found him, and gave him to me. I was so shocked. It was my dog.

So you never know when or where you will find your sweet baby. I have my fingers crossed for you and hope that you find him soon and in good health.

Also - did you know that there are two OES Rescues in Texas. One is Lonestar and the other is Texas OES Rescue. Just thought of that. They are really great rescues.
Contacting local vet offices is a very good idea! Many "city" pounds are actually in vet offices, if the city does not have a pound facility of their own... Also, the vets may have had him brought in, or had one of their clients call them to ask if anyone is missing a dog. I pray for you and Buddy everyday!

What about local television...human interest story...just don't get thrown in jail doing something  I pray for Buddy..he is scared out there TOO :(
Thanks! I did call all the local vets in our area and some of the adjacent and remote ones. A local television station has his flyers because they can't air it. God took him away. I hope he is happy and has a good loving home.
Dear Guest, If you go to www.oes.org/html/oes_rescue.shtml they have the listings for OES rescue around the country. They might be able to help you. I will remember to say a prayer for you and Buddy.
He's beautiful! Has he been found?
He has not been found. But I will keep you guys posted.
Oh Gosh! I am so sorry!!!! Any news??? How did he go missing? Did he get out, was he taken? This is terrible! It breaks my heart! I really pray that you find him! :(
Note: We are offering a $500.00 Reward!!! for any information regarding leading to the return of Buddy.
I am sooo sorry that he hasn't been found yet. I can imagine how devestating losing him can be. I think of you often and you are still very much in our prayers.

Dear members,

I'm afraid that all may not be as it appears with these posts.

The initiator of this topic has posted on the forum many times before:

"Buddy" posting as "Guest", Oct 2002.
http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=108
(Buddy is given up for adoption)

"He's Back" posting as "Buddy", Jan 2003.
http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=173
(Buddy is returned from adoption to the turn-in home, Buddy has found a good home in November, 2003.)

"Time to deal with our OES problem" posting as "GeorgeC", Feb 2003.
http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=187
(Unnamed dog has knocked over their child and broken his arm, the shelters are full, so they are going to euthanize the dog.)

In addition a thread pointing to a listing on Petfinder, then accusing the lister of perhaps stealing Buddy, which I have deleted.

To Eloise and/or Rob, the poster(s) of these threads:
I don't know if Buddy is really in trouble this time or not, however you will have to find another place to advertise your search.
Who is George C?
Ron,
I'm not sure what you are talking about. I did not post from "George C". Also what is a thread pointing to a listing on Petfinder? What do you mean by a lister that I accuse of perhaps stealing Buddy? I'm not sure why you created this website. I wish the best to you all!

Thanks!
It is a tribute to all the members of this forum that we have so few problem and potentially false posts.

But more than that: thank you, Ron.

Thank you for keeping this forum clean and honest -- and for keeping the nuts off the forum (other than those of us who are simply nuts about our sheepies of course.)
Hope Buddy's situation gets straigthened soon and that he's out of trouble.

In the meantime, A big round of applause to Ron for his super job keeping up this fourm as great as it is.

Thanks Ron!
I apologize. It's a long story. But this was not a false post or to mislead anyone. It may be incomplete. We had thought about giving Buddy up because puppies are a lot of work and I had small kids and wanted to give everyone a quality time. Buddy and the kids basically grew up together. When Buddy and the kids got older, he turned out to be a great dog with our family, and we decided to keep him. He was not the type of dog that runs away. He is a leashless type of dog who sits in the front yard. But he will greet strangers. He likes hugs, be with people, and car rides. Whenever Buddy gets out of the gate, he'll go around the house, wait at the door and bark to come in. We extended our fences so we have a bigger backyard. We really did lost Buddy, misses him, and want him back. I did not accuse anyone stealing Buddy. Basically, I was saying that those who has found and kept a dog better try to find its original owners. How would you feel if someone found your dog and kept it? Buddy is a great dog. A lady at Lowes (our local hardware store) says that she saw a big Old English Sheepdog that looks like Buddy in an used up 1980's station wagon turning North on the main street of our subdivision. The dog was standing occupying the back row seat with his head out facing her. She also described the man to me. I think I have seen the same car driving on our neighborhood and had looked at Buddy. I thought he was looking at Buddy because he was a big dog. We just hope that this dog was not Buddy.

Again, I was not accusing anyone of stealing Buddy, I was saying a witness says she saw a dog that looks like Buddy in a gray station wagon.

A qualified Old English Sheepdog breeder who lives near my town says that 3 of her Old English Sheepdog were stolen. She says that someone had broken the locks and stole the dogs right out of the kennels. Some people tells me that Buddy is a desirable dog and could possibly be stolen and sold.

I didn't sign in as a register because I didn't get it. Finally, I figure out how to sign in and register as a member. But I'm not sure if I want to post anymore here. It get people confused. This is a neat website to learn and chat about Old English Sheepdog.

There's more to say. But I am not trying to hurt anyone intentionally.
Buddy is probably eating a steak dinner and sleeping in a nice soft big bed. I don't know what we will do for now, we'll see how things goes. It sure is a lot quiter without Buddy. We miss him.

To those who have responded positively to Buddy, I really appreciate it.
SPCA is offering a grievance counseling for lost dogs. I thought about that.
