The Dog Nobody Wanted

I saw his face numerous times on a rescue website - the dog nobody wanted. He was aged, had "issues" and had been waiting in numerous foster homes for quite a while since his owner died.

I even recieved an email from one of the forum members when his owner died and the Realtor had been feeding him. They wondered if I could help out as they found out I lived in the same area. The last I heard he had been taken in by a family member. It was only last week that I found out it was the same dog that the forum member had told me about months before!!!

The last foster home (he's had 6 so far) only had him 2 days as he chewed their drywall when they left the house temporarily. He suffered terrible separation anxiety and desperately needed a new foster home or better yet a forever home.

I was tempted to tell my sister about him but as she's not as dog savy as I am, and she has a houseful of cats, I didn't tell mention him or the website where he was listed. Her internet access is sporatic and as far as I knew she had never heard of this particular rescue.

. He was also male and as Blue has issues with other male dogs I always thought she should get a female dog as we visit her often - me and my three male furkids. I also thought a female would make it easier in case she ever needed me to watch her furkid or I needed her to watch mine. I admit I was being a tad selfish in that regards.

So think it must have been Karma that he ended up with her after all. Somehow in the grand scheme of life she told someone she wanted a dog and they passed it along to someone else..and amazingly she ended up with the dog I already knew about. She had wanted a small poodle lap type female dog but ended up with a Shep/Husky X, senior male of 10. The rescue asked if she would even consider temporarily foster this boy even a few days as the last foster parents only had him 2 days.

He's stuck to her like glue. She lives on a mountain by herself but needs to go into town to go shopping. Not wanting to leave him alone and thus brought him along. Leaving him in the car to make a quick dash in the pet food store, she didn't bring him in as she's unsure how he is with other dogs.

She returned to find he had pooped in her borrowed car, chewed all the seatbelts so she had to replace them all and hoped she wouldn't get ticketed for not having a seatbelt on the way to store to purchase some more. He's dug through her garbage, wants to go to the bathroom at 4 am, the list goes on...but he loves cats!

So that's a good thing and on that note she decided he's the perfect dog and is keeping him.

Thanks everyone! I'll pass this along to my sister who have been very busy with him. She'll appreciate it!
While I will miss visiting her place with my three furkids, they are lucky. This boy really needed a forever home and deserved it.
