Related?

Are your oes's (2 or more) from the same breeder? In other words, are they family? :D

Mine are both rescues.... definitely not related though.
Nope...we have had 2 rescues, and one pup from a breeder, all unrelated (as far as we know  )
All of mine are or were related Auntie, Niece and grand niece. :D
Out of 4 sheepies none were or are related.
All of mine are related as well.

Belle is Mad's aunt and Mad is mom of the youngest brats. Belle helped raise all of them from the day they were born. She was not big on me keeping Mad, having picked a daintier, more girlie puppy, for us (who went to a friend in MN). But she nevertheless quickly grew closer to Mad than her own mom is. I thought she (Belle) would protest when I decided to keep Sybil (out of Mad's litter), but one suspects she snickers at Mad, remembers HER hellion days, and says" Serves you right, kid!"

Maggie, though a rescue is Barney's half sister. so both have same breeder. The breeder contacted me when she learned the original owner couldn't keep her and had given the dog to a lady to care for her until a new home could be found. When I contacted the lady "caring" for her she was about to give her to a local pound. The poor dog had been tied up 24/7 outside in the heat and was filthy, and severely matted. The dog had been mistreated and developed a severe biting habit.
George et al - that reminds me (apart from the fact that when you get right down to it, our dogs are all related - somehow  ) , I'm looking for pedigree info on dogs who were bred in the midwest -but especially Missouri and Indiana - and whose pedigrees are probably mostly or entirely outside of the show lines in this particular case.

It's too early to tell, but there is a possibility that there are a couple or more lines that carry the MDR1 mutation (drug sensitivities) in this population. This is not actually as widespread in OES as we tend to think it is, so when several cases show up in short period of time from roughly the same part of the country, that's enough to make people take notice.

It would be helpful to develop a better understanding of how these dogs are related and I'm hoping some of you may have pieces of the pedigree puzzle and not even know it. Even if you don't have your dog's pedigree and never registered your dog, you should have received (except usually in the case of rescues, of course) a registration slip with the sire and dam's registered names and numbers, if the dogs were AKC registered.

This is just an informal request, but if any of you would be willing to share pedigree information, I'd be really grateful. Just PM me.

Thanks!
Kristine
Mine are related. 1st generation Nephew & Aunt. Different kennels.
Carl is nobody's relative and if we are lucky, he won't have any new relatives out there!!!!

Suzi and Toby are from completely different kennels but if you look back far enough, they both trace to the same kennel. So they are technically related but I don't know if either breeder would willingly admit that!!! The breeder who's kennel both trace back to is proud to be their shared Grandma though!!!
Mine are related, Blue's dad is Sami's Grandfather
None of my 3 were related.
