Who wants a DOG !!!

Yup that's right ! who wants him !!!! I now know why there are so many sheepies for rescue ...ok ok I'm just mad at him right now but my husband will be furious at Brutus and ME !
I can leave for an hour and come back home and I will find him sleeping or waiting at the door ... but today I left him for 30 min, came home and found him on my kitchen table. You have to understand that we never had a kitchen table before and I finally have a new table and now there's huge marks on it ..
He's (DH) going to have a FIT !

Oh boooy......
deep breaths....serious deep breaths!!!
   Oh Nooo, make up some good story, like must of been a stray animal that got in the house :lmt: , wasn't us and make brutus give those smoochy pupper eyes to his dad when you tell him

Deep breath, tell him then run for it. 8O
Send him to me. He and Che can sleep on mine together, since that seems to be his default nap spot if I'm not careful.

I know you're mad, but look at it from his point of view: you're gone, he misses you, he's wondering where you are, kitchen table provides a perch from which better to view the world and, with any luck, you.

I understand you're upset. There have been so many times when I've caught myself muttering at Sybil "it's a darn good thing you're cute, you evil witch!!!" :P

When I got home tonight, I had to put my briefcase on top of the refrigerator because that is, at it happens, the only safe spot from Sybil - AKA jaws. When she's bored, she chews. When she's happy, she chews. When the sun sets in the west, she chews. You get the picture. She's crated during the day so I don't have to kill her. She doesn't do these things to ruin my things or my day or make me mad. She's just a dog, being a dog.

A really ANNOYING dog!!!!!!!

But at the end of the day, I love her anyway. And the things can be replaced (once she stops chewing, ca 2014?) But she can't.

As has been said: deep breaths. And a crate for the little bugger when you have to leave the house.

LOL! you are a big documentary fan aren't you???

I put a tablecloth, we had supper, he knew there was something wrong by just looking at my face. I just told him I was tired (no lies it's the truth). He left with Brutus for a walk.
Oh no! I have to say I agree with the rest, crate him when you are not at home at least for a while...and then slowly give his freedom back.

For hubby...cook his favorite meal... and put a gorgeous table cloth on your new table!

Well....now that you mention it....

I walked into the kitchen from reading the forum and there was Che, standing on the table! Maybe he reads the forum when I'm gone?

Brat!!

Not long ago Tasker jumped up (front paws only) and left HUGE scratch marks on my Hepplewhite Gaming table. An antique left me by my Mom, valued at 5 figures. I'm still looking for a professional anitque refinisher to try to fix it.
I feel your pain! Right before getting Eggbert, we were given the lovely dining room table that my husband grew up with in his parent's home...two of it's legs now kinda look like a beaver got to them! No good covering THAT with a table cloth!
Your table doesn't have a scratch - it is getting character. Evidence of family life and togetherness. Warmth and Charm and in the future - fond memories of life together with a big furball. Life is good!

And yes, my guys have imparted some character to my new hardwood floors. Love it.
Well Blue today, Being a little crazy went running landed on couch and continued on coffee table were David was rebooting a computer and the monitor ALMOST went flying(NEW) I happen to be standing close and caught it. Is it a full moon by chance???
I never had any problem with Violet climbing on the table, but China on the other hand, did indeed climb up there a couple of times. Only the two that I know of...but she came by it naturally. Her mother, who is owned by my friend, was on the table a lot. The best advise is what you have been given....crate him while you are gone.
Hi there, life isn't so bad just take a deep breath and laugh at it, all of our OES's have had one bad habit or another. I think that is what makes them sooo very special. The table is just a piece of wood the OES is a bundle of love and affection, what the he**.
You are mad now but soon you will laugh about it!!

I did when George trashed the dining room, ate my new red shoes, ate my brand new brown shoes, chewed the footboard on my bed...

Remind me why we keep them........

Oh yeah... that's very true. After it's done there's nothing you can do to undo it other than take steps to prevent it from happening again.

The Short List-
A remote car starter yet to be installed
4 purses
2 pairs of nice leather boots
Cordless dog clippers
The wood cabinet on the space heater (one that doesn't get hot to the touch)
My cell phone
Etc.

Panda was FINALLY able to teach us to pick up after ourselves.
We were such slow learners.
LOL Rufus has left alot of teeth marks around the edges of our dining table, but he is still small, I think he jumps up, clamps his teeth on and just hangs there
We've lost a fair number of barbie dolls, a couple of overshoes, underwear and even a tv remote to unsupervised sheepies. And our house bears some teeth marks as well. New chairs, too.

But the cake was taken when it came to Sophie, Sherman and my NEW shoes. Now, understand, it is horribly difficult for me to find shoes that fit decently, much less suit the occaission. After all, I cannot always wear little boys' sneakers. So, last year, I bought 2 pairs of shoes to wear to a wedding, and brought them home to get my daughter's opinion on which I should wear. I dropped one, unnoticed for about 5 seconds. Too late. Decision made for me, and I didn't get to return the other pair. During the same shopping trip, I happened to find several pairs of nice dress shoes in my size. Not believing my luck, I bought 3 pair other than the wedding shoes--an extremely unusual event to find shoes that fit and I liked and to actually buy more than 1 pair of shoes in a year. So, hubby and I go out to dinner, and I wear one pair that goes just right with an outfit. Came home, and as usual, kicked off my shoes immediately, went upstairs to the bathroom, realized I had left my shoes (after the wedding shoe incident) and came back downstairs. Total time elapsed: less than 5 minutes. Number of heels destroyed: only 1. They were nice shoes, on sale so hubby got them repaired. Next week. same thing. Same shoes. Same heel. I did learn a lesson. Sigh.
What is an Old English Sheepdog Puppy?

It is a
thing that chews your new shoes, socks, gloves, slippers, the mother-in-laws new hat, the kiddies teddybears, older dogs, the corners of rugs & carpets and sometimes when there is nothing else it's own legs.

The
thing can find a hole in a fence that cost a fortune in time and money to build, it can spend hours in the open-air to come in just in time to make a puddle on the new carpet.

Whenever everyone else is ready to go who is missing?

When you are in a hurry , who has a dirty bottom that needs washing?

I don't need to tell you the answer:

Who grows up so quickly? that you forgot how long his legs are now, and left a freshly baked cake on the table to cool. Who hides when you come home? to find a few crumbs, and a bit of chewed greaseproof paper on the floor.

Who is later sick and suffers from bellyache the whole night long?

And last of all who was the
idiot that bought this thing, who shows us day for day, that it does'nt matter what happens.

What a wonderful creature an Old English Sheepdog puppy is..

Hugs from Misty and Hamish and they ask you not to be angry with him. :ghug:
thank you very much on seeing things differently...and yes back to the crate he goes
Obe has not managed the kitchen table yet (to my knowledge) but I have caught him on the coffee table quite a few times. Always nervous when we go visit a friend and they say bring your dog. He is 99% good but I never know what the 1% is going to be.
Last time he brought in a stick and chewed it to pieces on their carpet. The funny part was he had two sticks in his mouth. I saw one and said drop it before he got through the door. He did and I said good boy. The other was hidden amongst the hair which ended up in a million pieces.
We a adpoted an collie x from the spca long time ago. He was not pooty trained yet. So when we went one I baby gated him in the kitchen. When we got back sleeping on couch? So I did TWO baby gates to keep him from jumping wellll got back and he was on the COUCH, what the????? Anyways stated cleaning got to the table and what do I see... paws prints ....right to the cut out going to the living room he was jumping through there and never touched all the stuff I had on it. SOOO you never know about that table.
After my last OES who ate the wall to wall carpet all over my house (thank goodness it was old), I have learned my lesson. I am only just starting to take a shower without Nigel in the crate, only if someone is watching him...otherwise...he is in the crate. Safer for him and easier on my house and my sanity.

You gotta love 'em!!

Maybe Chauncey isn't the only misbehaved sheepie....I was feeling soooo
alone. BTW good cover-up with the tablecloth
Years from now we will remenience about the " cute little things they did".
i have abot reached my witts end tonight. It has been a LONGGGGG 24 hours here and I agree with whomever said it...... IS IT A FULL MOON???

Days begin bright and early here around 530 am with these two. Checkers has decided he doesn't want to be housebroke. He pooped in his crate not once but twice yesterday....... never made a peep he wanted out...... not ONE. Today he and Callypso have driven me nuts......(but no potty in house) so i guess there is good and bad). If there is one thing they could get into they have, running pulling each other's co at etc., finding every one of my shoes....... just being overall pests!

And there is snow on the way........ and winter is JUST starting.....

I donot remember Duncan and Jessica being this much of hellions........ maybe its just that i'm older........ feeling MUCH older! And wouldn't you think a fireplace would be hot? he still walked up to it and licked it...... bred for beauty not brains........

thanks for letting me vent............ they ae going to crates now and im going to bed...... 530 will come again tomorrow im sure.
Hey Ali I think Duncan and Obe might related as he too wanted to see if a fireplace was hot. OES are goofy and smart but sometimes I wonder where the brain is.
Sigh... Ali, they are SO gorgeous. Makes me want a puppy
all the more. I rather miss the days of having a mischievous
pup. Wanna send them over for the day?

As you well know, this too will pass...
before you know it they'll be 3 and nice and calm.
my advise is get a big crate and train Brutus to stay in there when you are out make sure you have lots of chewies for him........ Bella my sheepie has been crate trained from day one. we have had her since she was 9weeks old she is 6months old now and sleeps in there at night time and any time I need to leave her and she is fine......... its her space and she loves it............ best of all is that I have a house with no chewed furniture or anything else when I get home.. Best to start with just a few minutes every day with the crate closed and over time he will get used to it, even if you put him in there while you go to the garden and come straight back in.... it will take time but its worth it in the end and its not cruel, honest, it makes them feel secure. its like a den and they make their bed up and sleep when comfortable....... good luck
well, i have found out WHY Checkers has been 'forgetfull" and yes, it IS because he is a boy!! 8O His mom Delilah came into season. And while he isn't exactly sure WHY he has these tendencies....... his 'forgetfulness' of peeing and pooping everywhere is his mind's way of telling him to mark....... oh what fun it is here (not). He has pee'd and pooped til i am ready to whallop him! lol. I can let him out, and he can be out for 30 min and come in and BAM........... But i have learned to watch his circling routine and watch him now............

Ahh mother nature and life........... oh what fun. NOT

Surviving. And cannot wait until she is out of season.........
Ali
My Morgan jumped on our table and tried to reach crumbs by digging his claws in the table. I dont know maybe he thought she could pull it. Well just another day here. I cant keep screens on my front windows or open them for that matter. People walk by and she jumps on the couch and dives at the windows!! Although the look on the peoples faces are great.
:D :D :D My dining table is solid pine: a reproduction of old Ontario furniture which I couldn't afford to replace. This table, which I keep covered now has several long Bentley scratches and numerous cat marks on it. 8O Periodically, the cats pull off the cloth and everythning with it. However, Willoughby is in his baby-gated space and so far, hasn't contributed to the character of the table. It's now my heirloom table!
