diarreah and vomitting

I got home from work yesterday and panda was her normal fluffy self....i make her dinner, she eats most of it, opens the back door and vomits....

about an hour later, she finished the rest of her dinner, we went for a walk (she was fine)...and then went to bed...

this morning, she was slow coming to the kitchen, didnt eat her breakfast, pushed the back door open again and went and layed in her dog house....

there was diarreah on the grass too....

I went into her dog house with her and i can definately hear her tummy making some really gross noises....im going home at noon to check on her....

is there anything else i should do or give her??

POOR Panda Girl! I have no advice, but Barney wants Panda to know he's thinking of her...
Poor Panda! :(

Harry says he knows how she feels - he had that noisy gurgly stomach a week and a half ago and we are still treating him with a bland diet because he had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Harry thinks Panda should eat lots of grass (Harry's mom says this is not the advice she would give).
FYI i took Wilbur to the vet yesterday... we only got him a couple of days ago and wanted to get him a routine checkup anyway, but since we've had him hes had diarrhea and then began vomitting the morning prior to the visit.

Turns out hes got Giardia and Whipworms, we got Wilbur from Ohio but we live in Texas - our vet said it is rare/uncommon for those to be detected here in Texas. Its caught by your dog drinking contaminated water - even dew of the grass can cause the Giardia bacteria it seems pretty nasty. I would definately get it checked out...

Wilbur has a course of antibiotics and looks a little under the weather - but we've had zero diarrhea today! :)
Oh, you poor thing! How does the vomit look like? If it's yellow and foamy then you don't have to worry, she is just hungry...but then again you said she threw up after eating.

How much do you exercise her? I don't know the signs of bloat but I know we shouldn't feed our dogs an hour before and after exercise.

Did she eat her dinner tonight?

Heeling  and :ghug:

Ps: Don't worry Barney, only friendly kisses and hugs. ;)
Hope she's feeling better now.
Hi Prof Boni,

The vomit actually looked more like the medicine we gave to him - the vet set if this continues we have to take him back.

The vomit was distingtively white...
For the giardia there is GiardiaVax, a series of two injections given two weeks apart. When all my guys had it we tried everything, Panacur, antibiotics, etc. I heard about the injections, took everybody in and it was gone in days. That was 7/8 years ago and we haven't had a problem since.

:bdcake: For Panda when she feels better :(
How is she doing today? I hope she is better.
She threw up last night and again this morning with some super black stool....so after i went to the doctor, panda got to go.......

no blood in her stool, no giardia, no bloat...

they gave her an anti vomitting shot and metoclopramid pills.

I think its the doggie flu.....
Glad to hear it's nothing serious. Hope her tummy settles down soon!
Poor Panda....

I hope she is feeling better.
Just a thought- when we are upset or not feeling well- Max reacts to that.
Could she be upset about you not feeling well. May seem crazy - but- hey- they are so perceptive and caring.
I hope she is going to get better soon. Do you have to take her back to the vet?
i have to take her back on monday if she is not markedly improved......

she is also eating grass....and throwing that up...something that she has never done before.......

she had a "semi'' normal poop (and i mean that loosely) and only a trace amount of vomit, but with grass....

im going home at lunch to check on her and make sure she is holding down breakfast....

poor baby..
I'm sorry to hear that Darcy. I hope nothing serious! But if she is eating grass that there is definitely something wrong with her stomach.

Give her a hug and a kiss for me pls!
Hugs for Panda girl, hope she is on the improve, Kelsey says she went through the Moo Cow stage of grazing and chucking, she says too she hopes Pandas tum tum settles down soon.

Wishing you a firmy soon panda.
:( Mony and Laci are also sorry to hear that Panda is under the weather. Keep us informed as we are family :D :D
My Panda is back :D

The meds kicked in and now she is back to her hyper/spazzy beautiful self!!

Thanks for all the well wishes....
sounds like you guys traded places though...

Good for Panda! I'm glad that someone's feeling better...
Steph, if this is what morning sickness feels like...you can have it.....blech..............all day.....blech
Hi Darcy and Panda, when my OES's have a bad tummy I keep them off food for at least 24 hours, all they get is water. After this period of time they are put on a diat of chicken, rice and cottage cheese in small portions every 4 hours, nearly always does the trick.
Glad that Panda is her old self. :D :D :D
thats exactly what i did......plus the vet visit :D
The main thing is your loved one is back to normal. :D
What a weekend....I was down and out and then my poor panda gets it just as bad...

Sunday, i crawled out of bed and moved to the sofa....brian had noticed that panda had drank a whole bowl full of water over night.......she didnt eat breakfast....and then the horror began...

She started vomitting water, then progressed to clear bile, then, yellow bile, then, yellow bile with blood, then dark green thick nasty stuff...and at the same time, blood poop.....

yes, you could say that i was freaking out. i mean FREAKING out....i rush her to the emergency vet. she had stopped vomitting by then but was completely out of it...poor baby was practically laying on top of me (and let me tell you, with my super hero sense of smell now..her vomit face wasnt sitting too well with me)...

anyway, the vet gave her a shot of dexamethasone and then more pills...metronidazole and amoxi tabs...

the diagnosis was colitis.....

she still had bloody stool this morning...i faxed the lab reports and meds over to my regular vet to double check...

does this sound correct..??

in my life i have NEVER seen blood poo...not blood IN poo but BLOOD POO....the emergency vet didnt seem overly concerned....

and i have to say panda is feeling much better today...she ate breakfast of rice and scrambled egg...and was more wiggley...
Oh no!! POor girl! I have nothing to say but poor poor girl!
Oh my! Poor Panda. I am so sorry. Is this something the meds will just fix?
Poor Panda. :(
I think Panda is worried sick about you.
One of my Westies is prone to Colitis , the Vet here treats it with probiotics , antibiotics and no food for 24 hrs then just boiled chicken and rice for 3 days before re introducing her normal diet , I'm now really careful that she doesn't get many treats and is more or less just fed the same dried food all the time .........too much fresh meat ,if we share the Sunday Roast ,can spark an attack for her but trial and error has made me learn how much to give her !

I hope for Panda it's just an isolated thing and I think the others have a point too when they say she is worrying over you as dogs are very sensative ......I hope you both feel much better soon .

Julie .
Oh, Darcy, sorry I didn't see this. :ghug: to Panda and you!
Darcy..I hope Panda ( and you) are feeling better today...are you both?? Please post update.....
Yes, sorry I didn't see this either. Hope that Panda is feeling better. How sweet if her ailment is really sympathy related, wow.
I hope you both are feeling better today. :D
Somehow I completely missed this whole thread. I'm so sorry to hear that Panda's been sick, Darcy. Is she feeling any better today?
she ate her breakfast of rice and scrambled eggs this morning..she is quiet but not sickly, i think her tummy still hurts...

yesterday afternoon she still had a bloodly bm...no poop last nite or this morning....ill do another check later today when i go home and may have to take her back tomorrow....

and we want panda to shake off these silly ''symapathy'' pains, it is doing neither of us any good.....she needs to suck it up like mommy!!
Poor Panda, I would have been freaking out too. On top of it you are not feeling spiffy either. What a trooper you are Darcy. I hope you are both feeling better soon.
It looks like we are going back to the vet tomorrow first thing in the morning....Brian stopped at home a while ago...Panda vomitted some of her breakfast...she seems playful but something is not right....

I just set an appt for 8 am tomorrow morning....please wish her well...i just cant have anything happen to her....
Hugs to Panda :ghug: ...Izzie said to tell her that she better get healthy. Otherwise she won't be able to kick her butt over Christmas when they meet
:( Poor sweet Panda.

:ghug:

Sending prayers. Please keep us posted.
I hope Panda gets better quickly .
Julie.
Well, bless her little heart. I hate she can't seem to shake this stuff. I hope the vet can give her something to make her feel better. Poor baby girl. :(
:( Hope everything is ok, don't forget to update :ghug:
What the heck is going on? This is so weird. I really hope that everything's ok. Clyde says just be glad that I'm not there or I'd try to squeeze something on her to make her better.
Aw, poor Panda, hope you feel better soon.
Crikeys poor panda, hope she starts to feel better soon. Drat thought she was on her way to being better. Get well soon panda girl. Mom does not need you to be unwell too. :ghug:
Panda is much better..the vet just said to keep up the meds....she is still on her bland diet, but FINALLY seems completely normal....

oh and the poo's are nice and brown again :D
:clappurple: YAY!
Oh, Darcy I'm sorry I missed so much! I'm glad Panda (and you) are better, this is really weird though. Does the vet knows it for sure that she is okay?

Love, hugs and kisses to all of you from all of us! :ghug:  :hearts:
YAY! Thank goodness....poor sweet Panda, I hated to think of her being ill!
Well, she just threw up her dinner...crap. we did take her for a very active run though right after dinner, im hoping we just over did it...*slaps head with hand*

i did notice that she was rubbing her face on the grass....i checked inside her mouth and it doesnt look bad to me, but could she have some type of mouth infection? she is on amoxi tabs though......

crap i dont know...play it by ear over night and see how she is in the morning......

i will not freak out, i will not freak out, i will not freak out........
Poor Darcy, poor Panda! I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Panda is in my thoughts.
Panda! I got so excited that she was feeling better, then I got sad that she wasn't. How is she today? I hope that it was just the run that made her puke.

How is Daddy handling all the vomit in your house lately? 8O
panda ate breakfast fine...acted fine.....

brian doesnt handle puke.....he brings me the garbage can and walks away.......so much for the strong fireman type who is used to bodily fluids.......
I hope Panda is still OK ......hope you are too !
Julie .
Oh poor Panda girl. I hope she feels better soon.
