Last chance to register for the UK only Christmas card list!

Hello!

If you wish to be included in the Christmas Card exchange list for UK people, please can you PM me with the following details by this Friday, Nov 16th please so I can finish off the list and circulate it. There's only 8 of us listed at the moment and I'm sure we have more UK members than that!

The info I need is:

Full name and postal address, Username, Dogs name, personal e-mail address - so I can send you the complete list. (this will remain private and will not be circulated with the list)

Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks :)

:( One of the most fun things about our Christmas card exchange in years past has been getting and sending cards all over the world, I know the cost of postage can really add up but if you can I encourage you to participate in the general list. Christmas Postcards are much less to send than cards. It is really the highlight of the holidays for many of us.

those are my thoughts. I'm happy to hear there are only 6 on the list! ;) I rather them participate on the normal card exchange w/everyone, but do understand postage prices.
Ginny,

Several people in the UK had commented about the high cost of sending so many cards abroad that I thought I'd set up a UK list too. Some people have registered on the 'big' list as well and will still participate but at least this gives other UK members chance to exchange cards amongst ourselves without it costing an arm and a leg!

Regrettably I did not sign up for the 'Big' list as the costs would have been too restrictive and I didn't feel I could be selective on who to send cards to! I'd hate to offend anyone on the list by not sending a card to everyone. :(

I hope I haven't offended anyone by volunteering to set this up just for UK people, that was certainly not my intention at all.
Karen, No offense at all. I do understand that cost can be a factor. I would just hate to see our Christmas exchange become fragmented into smaller groups. The first year I did it I was also concerned about the cost but it really is the highlight of the holidays for me and worth every penny. I was just hoping to encourage anyone who might be "sitting on the fence" that there are ways to lessen the expense (postcards).
To post 60 cards from the Uk to the US is around £70 (146 dollars) which has put many of us off.

However one of the members (Kathie) has kindly said she will be happy to post the cards in the US if she is sent the cards and obviously the postage costs.

This saves around £40.

Perhaps other members could also act as post people so we can get cards across without it costing a fortune?
I would be glad to mail cards for anyone!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the offer Ginny! Maybe I'll take you up on that for next year. I've never seen Christmas Postcards on sale here in the UK but I'm not sure the postage from the UK to USA would be any less for a postcard than a 'normal' card in an envelope anyway? I'll have to investigate!

I'm really sorry if I've upset anyone by offering to do this for UK people - I just thought thought this would be a more affordable option for those that had requested it. :(
Karen, rest assured you haven't offended anyone, and I thank you for taking charge of the UK list. I understand it can get pricey mailing things internationally, so you're filling a need for those who still want to see some extra pictures of smiling sheepies on their walls!!

Let me know if there's anything I can do.
Karen, don't worry!
The UK list is a great idea for those who cannot afford to send so many overseas, but don't want to be excluded from all the fun.
I understand some people may not want 2 lists, but £70 is a whole weeks wages for alot of people, it's just too much. Better to have some involvement than none at all :D

Well said!
Wow, I had no idea it would cost that much to mail cards to the whole list from the UK. I can understand not participating due to the cost. And to think we complain about 41 cents for a stamp.

(By the way, don't computers have a cents sign on the keyboard any more?? Or is it assumed nobody deals in cents....)
OK, Unless I hear from anyone else that would like to be included by tonight I will be sending the list out tomorrow morning! Its all ready to go!
