changing a puppy's name

I have a 16 week old puppy that I got from a shelter. They called him tiny which I don't like. I want to change his name. Is he to old to change his name since he is use to being called Tiny?

It's absolutely NOT to late to change his name and I have to say I don't blame you!

We rarely call our dogs by their names anyway - so they get used to all sorts of different names! What will you be changing it to??

Lots of us have rescue dogs and we had no idea what their former people called them. Henry didn't take long to respond to Henry, Smoochy-boo, or any of the other names I call him.
We had no problem changing Sofa's name, and she's 1 year old. Just start calling your pup by the new name and have treats handy when the pup responds, that will make it much faster.... Like BritPresSyd said, we never call them by their official names anyway.
Oh Heavens, all my dogs have multiple names, some I can't print here

Select a name you love and is easy to understand by the dog. One or two sylabbles is probably better since the dog won't be down the street before you get the entire name out of your mouth.
when i adopted my blossom, she as 7 years old and had been called Summer all her life. I simply started calling her Summer Blossom and in a few days she responded just as well to Blossom as to Summer. Of course, when she's done something really bad I still call her Summer Blossom and she knows she's in trouble then!
I think they respond more to the tone of voice than the actual words anyway. I can call either of mine sh** head in the same tone and they'll still wiggle their butts just as much!
Hi Brenda,

LOL, your post made me laugh. You are so right too!
It is nice to see you posting again. I have missed hearing about Lizzie and Cooper. Are you staying busy running the daycare? I hope you and yours are all doing well. Stormi and co.
My folks rescued a 3-4 year old oes by the name of Beechum(?). They hated the name and started calling him Bear (which he more likely resembles). The result: Beechum is now Bear...no problems whatsoever.

I have a 10 month old oes who is absolutely terrific, but I've NEVER seen an oes with the wonderful disposition of Bear's, and I've had six, who were all wonderful! I guess we should all give a hand for rescuing oes's!
