Nail clippers (dog on a cat?)

Hi... has anyone ever used a dog nail clipper on a cat? Is this a do or dont?

I just use regular human type nail clippers on my cats - not the dog nail clippers.
They are probably too strong for a cat - their nails are more delicate.
I have a very small clipper for Ty that would be appropriate for a cat. I was "told" once to never use a human clipper on an animal because they are designed for flat nails and animal clippers are designed for the round nails of a dog or cat. Apparently you can split the nail up to the base with a human clipper.

That being said I have in a pich used the human clipper on Ty (who has nail more like a cat) but held it sideways.
