Great news re Denver!

Testing today confirmed that Denver is only deaf in one ear! His right ear hears perfectly fine! I am so happy because that will make life alot easier and safer for him. Woo hoo!

WOW! Yay! that is the BEST news!!!!!! :cheer: :go: :clappurple:
That's great! :D
One really funny thing at the hospital -- the walls are covered in wonderful, funny photographs of animals, mostly dogs. Denver zeroe'd in on the photo of a Beardie and went over and started barking at it. Only the beardie. He actually put his front paws up on the bench underneath it to get closer. It was so cute! I think he thought it looked like family. :D
Great new!!!!!!!! But who the heck is Denver????? I've been out of the loop for awhile and am TRYING to catch up!!!!!!!!!!!
Foster puppy donated to NEOESR because he is deaf. But he is only partially deaf!! Check out my pictures to see him. He is mighty cute!

What FANTASTIC news!! You could tell from the yap fest video that Denver must have been able to hear, or else he wouldn't have "answered" Maggie like he did.

The little guy has already learned the hand signal for Sit and he is very good at it! In fact, he offers it up when he wants some attention. He is such a good boy!
Oh, he is so cute. He reminds me a lot of Barney when we got him. Very scraggly but adorable!

Does he have a home yet?
Val,

That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!!!!

Would you tell us (in this thread or even better in a new post) what they do during the test? What is the procedure, how they can be sure, how long it takes, is it a specialized facility, the cost...
What wonderful news esp. for a new family!!!!!
:yay: Fantastic news :D
Wonderful news!!!!!! and the training begins................
Great news!!!

:ghug:
FINALLY HAPPY Denver news!
I am so happy for you, little guy. (Val, too of course!)
That's awesome!
Very good news. :D :D :D
That peeking under Maggie picture is adorable. :D
FANTASTIC!
Yay for Denver! Does this mean he can listen to Bronco games?? Not that he'd want to this year.

Ann...a devoted Bronco fan who is, unfortunately, being reminded of the pre-Elway years this year.
That's great! I'm so happy for both of you! :D
Great news about Denver. Bella's hearing is just selective. Open the treat drawer and she will come running in from the back yard. Tell her to "come" and you are just wasting breath.
YAY, GREAT NEWS!

Oh, and "mighty cute" has to be the UNDERSTATEMENT of the year!    A total heart stealer that one!
Val, you must be so proud to have been the foster (and discoverer of his hearing) and rejoice in this little cutie's new home back East. You and Maggie may have found a new calling........Dog Fosterer. I'm sure Mags is wondering when someone new is coming to visit.

Denver is home with his new family and they had a little welcoming party for him last night where he met PJ, whose heroic resecue effort should be in the next Tale's End. I saw a couple of pictures and everyone on the OES-List was raving abou how cute and how sweet he is. He will clearly be doted upon.

I am really thrilled to have been part of the rescue effort. It certainly helped that he was the cutest little munchkin ever but I guess I think it would be worthwhile to see any sheepie come back to life from a bad experience. It was key that NEOESR pays all of the expenses and that they were so committed to finding a permanent home for him. I would have been less willing if it had been a more open-ended commitment instead of just one or two brief weeks. Also, I know people worry about saying goodbye but it is not so hard if you know that the dog is going to a great, carefully chosen home.

Maggie was wonderful with him but she does not seem to miss him. She hasn't been looking around or moping. Maggie seems to take each day on its own without preconceived ideas of what it will be or who will be in it. She is a very easy going dog.

I think one of the most wonderful traits about an Old English is how adaptable they are. They don't miss a beat and seem to bounce right into any routine you throw at them. Glad to hear that Denver is well on his way to his new life journey. Great job Val, making all of the transitions go so smoothly.
Denver is the cutest little guy around! That face! Such great news about his hearing. You did such a wonderful thing- you should be very proud of your efforts.
Just wonderful! :clappurple:
