Rental crates

We will be traveling to St. Louis with Pirate and Keira for Christmas (I'm sure I will be writing more on this under travel, since I'm having a nervous breakdown about it :excited: ), but I would like to rent travel crates (soft sided) for the trip.

I really don't want to buy them, and was wondering if any of you know if they can be rented.

Buying them would be very expensive (close to $300 for both) and I don't know when we would use them again.

Thanks

Sounds like a fun trip!
1st - are they used to regular crates, and respectful of them? Soft side crates are definitely not recommended for dogs that are not already crate trained, and if they scratch or chew.

2nd - because they are nearly impossible to disinfect, I would doubt they would be rented. Or if they were - I don't know that I would want to do it! The covers are removable for washing, but it is not the easiest thing to do.

I would try and find someone willing to loan you one - perhaps a friend, someone you know from dog classes or such. Although, the holidays are a busy time and they might be using them.

Perhaps you could put a wanted ad in the paper? Maybe someone bought one and no longer wants/needs it. :)
They're great in their crates. They love them, and often just go in them to view the world.

The hygene thing has been a concern for me.

Maybe I should check ebay.
Check with your agility and obedience friends (any breed) as we usually have too many dogs to be schlepping big, metal crates around to shows.

I have one large and two extra large softsided (two of my girls can fit in one of those if need be) - all Cabanas, which can no longer be purchased, so I'm pretty protective of them. But there are lots of less expensive brands these days that people might be less concerned about lending you ;-) Keira really only needs a medium size one, tops.

EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just checked Ebay "dog crates" and pulled up 1400. there was an extra large soft crate with an 8.00 bid on it. You might also try Craig's list.
Your traveling to saint louis?

If you are in around the 8th we are having a Christmas party for our sheepies!
Our daughter has offered to stay with the puppers, so they don't have to travel with us! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I will be buying Pirate a new crate, since he destroyed his old one.

Yes, we are coming to St. Louis, but won't be arriving until 12/23, so we will miss the Holiday Party
