how to make a dog poop more often?

Ok, I realize this is a forum for English sheepdogs, but I really need some help!
I just got a 5 yr old mini pin. Weighs 9.7#
She poops 1 time at 7:30 am and at 9:00pm. They look like elephant piles! literally over 1 foot long and inch+ around.

Is there any way to make her have to go more frequently? I'm afraid she gets constipated as they are very hard, and she strains so to go poop.

Thanks folks...I really appreciate any help you can pass on.

A couple of suggestions:

That sounds like a lot of poop; maybe you should try a higher quality feed and a much smaller amount? Higher quality feed will produce smaller stools as there is less filler.

Maybe you could try reducing the amount you are feeding with the same feed?

You could add some whole bran sprinkled on top of the food to add some fiber to move things along a bit faster. If things move faster they shouldn't be so dry.

Good luck!
Our min pins only poop a couple times/day also. No mega poops though.

1 poops easily, the other has chronic constipated stools. He moves around in the grass like a little tripod when he poops. He does have a inherited digestive disease, so it is normal for him.
Otherwise , the ideas to try (above) are good ones.
Thank you all!

I did get a better food. Also found the dose I fed her was for an entire day! not 1 meal! So much for old age and glasses!
I also gave her a tiny bit of warm milk, and things slid out nicely!
I really appreciate your help!

The poor thing has calcium deficency, runs in circles, has a horribly infected tooth which is going to be pulled. She's semi blind....and her owner was going to use his shot gun....I guess I'm a sucker for animals..I will love her forever...she is Precious!

GOD BLESS!
