13 year old needs foster home

I just received a phone call from a friend of a lady who is dying of cancer.
They don't think she will make it until Christmas.
She has a 13 year old female OES, in good health, that she is so worried about. This lady is dying, but all she worries about is her sheepie and what will happen to her.
She lives in Nashville/TN in a retirement home.
My 13 year old BB is dying of cancer and that is why I can not foster at
the moment. I want to spend all my time with him, othewise I would have
taken this girl.
Is there anybody out there that could foster Claudia ?
I know it will be hard to find a permanent home for her. Right now Claudia is in a kennel and has been there for two month.
This lady will take her out this weekend and bring her to the owner for a visit and I was hoping that she also could give her good news, like we found a foster for her.
Please PM me if somebody could help.
Thanks

Oh noooo...

Just wondering if you have any particulars you can share about this sheepie-girl...

Does this girl get along well with other dogs?
How does she handle grooming?
How she's done at the kennel?
Anything else?
I can foster (and probably even adopt), but I live in Illinois. If we can get her transported here, I would be happy to foster her.
No details on this girl. She was always a housedog and very loved by her owner. She is very cute.
This was the situation we ran into almost exactly one year ago with Logan. His owner was in the hospital and not expected to recover. He was 11 at the time. He is one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of having in my life, even though we may not have many years together. I would strongly recommend taking in an older dog. I know he is a happy with us as we are to have him with us. I hope he finds a similar situation. If we were closer...we would then have 5 dogs!
...she, rather.
Ingrid, I just Pm'd you. :)

I can foster her and I would even go meet the sick lady on her visit with her sheepie so maybe it would put her mind at ease about her girl being safe .

Antoinette
antoinette you must have a halo on your head!!!
Thank you so much Antoinette! :D

I felt so bad for Claudia and her owner. I just imagined how I would feel if she were mine. I talked to my husband about taking her but I don't think 6 sisters would be good for an ol' sheepie-girl. So thank you, thank you, thank you!! Please keep us posted? I hope you'll post pictures.
Details are in the works ! :D

I do live very close to Claudia's Mommy and will bring Claudia to her for regular visits (as she feels up for them).

I have a 3 story house and as some of you already know we made a apartment for my Mom on the first floor, so Claudia will be hanging out with My Mom that way my crazy boys will not bother the old girl.

We will take very good care of her and I will post lots of pictures.

Antoinette
Thank you so much for stepping up and helping us with her. You will find out just how wonderful that fostering can make you feel. Mom will have a new bud to hang out with too.
Bandaa, what a lifesaver!!!
How kind you are and I'm sure the ill Lady will rest easier and bless you for your kindness
Antoinette,
You must be one of those special Halloween Angels! Thank you so much for taking in this ole' girl!
Kim and Finnigan (he sends a big sloppy sheepie kiss)
What a wonderful thing to do, Antoinette! :clappurple: You rock!
Blessings to you Antoinette!
Thanks for the kind words I am glad I can help.

Here is a picture of Claudia that Ingrid sent me, I thought you guys would like to see this beautiful girl. I will take some new pictures when I get her home here with us this weekend.

Thank you Ingrid for all you do, I know you are going through so much right now with your BB being ill and yet you still do so much to help others in need.

You guys are so awesome! Thank you for helping Claudia and her mom!! :D
This is so cool and a wonderful solution for the ill mom. I can't help but want another pal for Ralph after only 3 months!
Antoinette and Ingrid, you gals are the best. Claudia is such a beautiful girl, and I'm sure it will give her owner great peace to know that her sweet sheepie will be loved and cared for after she is gone.

I went to meet Claudia today at the facility she has been living for the last 2 months.

A very kind lady and her mom will be picking Claudia up tomorrow and bringing her here to me. Of course they want to meet me and see where Claudia will be living plus they have the papers signed from Claudia's mom to give her up to foster. The one lady is the friend of Claudia's mom so she can relay to her how Claudia does.

I just thought I would go meet her so when they bring her to me tomorrow she will know me and not be scared.
Well, I am in love ! :hearts:

Her and her Mommy's story is sad but God willing she will be happy again when she is here. She gave me kisses and seamed like she wanted to come home with me right there and then and Boy~oh~Boy it was all I could do not to bring her home with me then! ( not aloud to yet ~ need paper work)

Well, wish us all luck .Tomorrow afternoon is the big day . :D

Antoinette
What an Angel you are. :hearts:
We will be watching any news when you have time to post it, Antoinette...and will be thinking about you tomorrow afternoon.
This is so wonderful! I am in awe.
My heart goes out to you all!! What wonderfull people!!
I just wanted you all to know that "ralphsmom" and "tammit"
volunteered to foster also.
I choose Antoinette because she lived so close to Claudia and this way we would not have to transport her.
I was afraid she might get stressed. When I adopted BB two years ago he was 11 and we transported him all the way from LA to TN and her was in bad shape when he came to my home. I was afraid he would die.
He did not drink that really concerned me.
I was so glad when Antoinette said she could do it.
I just want to let you all know that this a great group and someone is always there to help a sheepie in need.
You're awesome, Antoinette! Keep us posted on how it's going. It should be fun with 2 young boys and an old lady-- just ask me! :)
Well, Claudia is home ! She is a sweet old girl. There are a few issues we will have to work with but thank God we can have her downstairs with mom cause she is a tough old girl and will not tolerate other dogs ~ but of course Harley, she like him since he is so laid back and lets her try and play "She is the boss" . lol..... :)

She is adjusting to the cats fine now but she had no idea what they were!

Her hips are very bad she does not put any weight on the right side but that could be looking worse since she has been kenneled at the vets office for over a month. :(

I have to take her in and find out how to get her groomed thought, for some reason even though the vets office said they would give her a bath they did not and she is soooo dirty .I would do it myself but reading through her records it says she does not do good with baths...(we will leave it at that ) .

I have got to say her mommy Nanci loved ( loves) Claudia very much :hearts:
She took Claudia to the vets office every month without fail to be bathed and check ups.
The records show she has had Claudia for over 11 years and had originally got her from a rescue. She was a good mommy.

But here are a few pictures I had taken ,I will take more latter .
I have just been so busy with making her feel at home I had no time to get pictures. :D

I just wanted to let you all know she is a good girl and with a little work and some adjusting to a family again(and not the vets kennel) she should be fine.

She has gotten very attached to me (and me to her ).I am glad she is here !

Good job Antoinette!

That 2nd picture looks an awful lot like Nicole's Dixie - they both have that cute puppy-like face. :D
So glad you have her home. What a pretty girl! Hopefully, in a very short time, she will feel right at home. In the meantime, it's nice you have your mom to help house her away from the other furrpets.

Big hugs to Claudia from all her new sheepie friends! :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug: :ghug:
What a lovely ending to what could have been a sad tale.....bless you for having her..
she looks like my daytona i can't say this enough you are my hero!!!
I Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Claudia. :D

The old girl and I spent the whole day at the vets office and the groomers.
She feels soooooooo much better now ( my groomer even gave her a hip massage). 8)

Dr, said she looks good for her age but her kidneys my be starting to fail. Her hips are bad but the med's seem to help. She does fall down out of the clear blue sky but that also could be from lack of muscle tone since she was kenneled for so long.

Claudia is a sweet girl but does not like other animals and some people.
All I thought off all day ( as she and I stood out side away from any other animals at the vets office ) was Heather & Walter!!!!
I needed a sign that said ~ Beware I BITE" 8O lol........

Anyway,I still love her :hearts: . (Pictures pending approval......)

I think Heather included a link for the "CAUTION" bandannas!
Antoinette,
How do you manage in your home if Claudia doesn't like other dogs?
Wondering b/c my guys do not like each other. It is difficult, I use gates throughout the house.
She is adorable, you are wonderful to take her in !

We have a 3 story house . :D We made a apartment for my Mom down stairs ( that we are still working on  ) that is about 1,500 sq feet.

She has her two cats downstairs but Claudia likes them ! I do let Harley go downstairs a few times a day cause Claudia really likes him and get all spunky and playful when he go to visit. But she will not have anything to do with Junior . I think cause he is so young and rowdy ... so he stays upstairs.

Ingrid thinks Claudia is aggressive with other animals cause she was livings at the vets office for so long. :( (I think so to.)

The people she seems to have a problem with are Men. Thank God she likes my husband but she was not thrilled with the vet tech today (and he is a sweetie) .I think that also may be a bad memory somewhere from her past. :?

Antoinette
oh she looks just like my daytona who is 13 and sounds just like her.. my daytona puts up with her older sisiter but derby every time he comes near her her lips go up and growls he backs up i think now it has become a game.. i think they are just old gals that want to chill out , good luck

Haha, it is a pain isn't it?

She looks like such a sweetie though, maybe in time she'll warm up to people and animals, we're rootin for you Claudia!

Thank you for making me smile, thanks for stepping up and helping out, thank you for taking this beautiful girl in, thanks for helping out the family...What a wonderful person you are!
