Sheepiefest "THANK YOU"

To everyone who helped make the first day of "Sheepiefest" so much fun...

THANK YOU!!

Chelsea barely made it home before she collapsed into a huffy puffy spread-eagle sleep on the middle of the bedroom floor. Her parents were also wiped out and took an hour long nap in the two-legged person's bed.

Again- THANK YOU!! We had an absolute blast and we are already planning for next year!

Don't worry Ron- pictures to follow!

Up
a/k/a Karen- Chelsea's mum

p.s. - good luck tomorrow and say 'hello' to everyone we missed

Waiting patiently.... give or take...
YAWN!!!!!

We just got home from day 2 of SheepFest! and are wiped out!

I will write lots more tomorrow, when my brain is fresh, but needed to say a few VERY cool things!

Saturday we had about 15 sheepies at the fest, today we had about 10. That is so great for our first time out.

Now for the really exciting news. (Karen "UP" hang on!) When Chelsea arrived, with Up, she looked so much and acted so much like Pirate it was weird. Then the two of them sorta "hooked up" very differently from how they interacted with the other dogs. I asked Karen where she got Chelsea from (ok, get ready...) and she got her from the same breeder I got Pirate from!!! They are 1/2 brother/sister!!!! And it was so odd cuz they seemed to know. Even though Chelsea is older (about 2 1/2 months) Pirate is much taller. But, they are build so much alike. They both share the same dad, Jumpin' Jack Flash....yea...I guess he's ajumpin'! And he makes great babies! Can't wait to get them together again.

Now the bad news...Pirate had such an exciting day yesterday, he really crashed, as did I. When we got up this morning, he had had a bout of the runs all over the white living room carpet...UGH  . I've clean it three times, but its still not right. I'm just too tired to do it again now.

Anyways...I will write more about the weekend tomorrow.

Hugs to everyone who was there. Heather, we all love Walter, BTW!!!

And Auntie Paula..you're da best!!!!!!!!!!!

Until later.....

Deborah and a very tired, but happy, Pirate
Oh...one more thing before I hit the couch....

Look at Pirate's avator and then look at Chelsea's....

Same face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me
I just rec'd an email from Kathi Mc. She said after I left Sunday (around 2pm) we had a ton more sheepies! OH! Now I feel terrible that I left.

Hmmmm...guess we'll just have to do this again!
This was the most fun I've had in furever! I was as tired as Pirate and Chelsea when I got home (although I didn't have diarrhea on the carpet--poor Baby P). I so enjoyed meeting everyone I've "talked" to on the board. And of course the best part was hugging and kissing all those sheepies (since I don't have one of my own). You can definitely see the family resemblence between Pirate and Chelsea! And Walter is a testament to Heather's training and patience. He was very well-behaved and is quite the handsome gent. I am Pirate's official auntie now. The weather was perfect and the food was great. We got to watch sheepies do agility which is funny because they move slowly and methodically as opposed to the hyper little dogs. A special thanks to Deborah for organizing us. I can't wait to do it again and maybe those who couldn't make it will be there. And Deborah, did Pirate ever pee Saturday?
HA HA HA HA.....

Yes, in the car on the way home!

Pirate has a "shy" bladder and won't pee anywhere but home...and... the car (UGH).

Geez, I love that guy!!!!

Auntie Paula...he wouldn't pee Sunday either, but made it home with an accident. Good boy!
OOOH!

Sorry to hear about the carpet. Chelsea was so worn out, she couldn't even manage to poop or pee until much later.

Glad to hear Sunday was such a success too- I REALLY think we need to do this again, and if any of you are brave enough (count me in!) maybe we plan a winter event and the sheepies can run wild in the snow at a farm or a barn somewhere- there must be something we could rent out!

Thanks again! It was really a blast.

Up.
Oh Karen!

That sounds like so much fun. Pirate doesn't really know snow yet, but I remember how much Cupcake loved to play in it!

How would go about finding a farm to rent, or a place to go? I think we would need an indoors, for us uprights to drink...ah, I mean warm up!

Great, super idea! Count us in!

Anyone else a taker?
I'm with ya. A winter picnic sounds great. Are the forest preserves open during the winter? We could do a barbeque to keep warm. Are there any hot drinks made with Scotch????

Honey, I'm sure we could invent one!

Do you want me to find out if Van Patten woods is available? They had that great b-b-q pit there.
Winter Wonderland-

I'm thinking end of January- out of the Holiday season- still cold enough that the ground is frozen and the sheepies don't get caked in mud, cold enough to justify hot cider and cocoa (spiked if you like - I have recipes!) and middle of winter 'doldrums'- perfect time for a party. So I'm wondering about this place Heather takes Walter to? It's a farm - I'm sure someone will rent out space for the right price??!!! Otherwise the woods are great - we just need some serious charcoal. Wow...... that could be a blast. I love to see an OES running through the snow, about 15 of them- even better!! We could do a late afternoon thing, the sheepies will be fine in their crates in the car, and we can all retreat to some warm place nearby to warm up when it's all over.

hmmmmmm.......

Up.
Hey!

Where is Heather in all of this discussion?

Heather! Are you out there? Whatcha think?
I'm thinking we need to find a place that has a "club house" where the uprights can get warm and do some cooking/eating/drinking and the bathrooms are not frozen! I'll see if there are any park districts that have a set-up like that. Or, somebody needs to buy a farm for us! End of January sounds good, or even February, which is really the looongest month even though it has 28 days.
Feb might be better...more snow than January, but a wee bit warmer.
I was thinking it might be cool to go somewhere where the sheepies can run wild. I know walter does 10x better when he and the other dogs are offleash... so maybe a dog park? i know of a lot in the area, none have shelter but theyre all really big and fun.

Theres a sheep herding place on a farm that i think uppety was referring to (walters never actually been all his appointments have been cancelled) there is a fee and you have to make an appointment- but how cool would it be to have a sheep herding party?? the website is www.magicslegacy.com if anyone is interested

or if anyone has a giant house/giant backyard that they wouldnt mind 10+ sheepies ransacking that could work too!
Thanks Deb for organizing Sheepiefest. We were one of the late ones on Sunday. Sorry we missed you.

Ironically, we also had a reunion. When we walked in, some others were leaving and we talked for a minute and found out Lola and Patches (sorry I forgot Patches' uprights name right now) were both 8 mos. Then she asked where the breeder was we got her from. Well we determined they are brother and sister.

As someone pointed out, they both had a similar white spot on their bums. They didn't get to play much, but that was cool for her to see her brother. I can't say they acted different, Lola is a little growly when she meets a new dog.

I'd be up for another one as I know Lola would love it(we'll just have to get our act together and get there earlier).

Sue & Lola
aka Pocha
Sue,

I'm so sorry that we missed you, too.

Its funny you said that Lola is little growly when she meets new dogs, cuz when Pirate meet Patches, Patches got a little growly with him! Must be a family trait.

We will fur sure be doing another sheepie thing. From the feedback I've rec'd, everyone had a really good time.

And I will make it a point of meeting you, and giving Lola a
tummy rub!
