I saw a sheepie.........in Nairobi, Kenya
Last week I traveled from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya and Zanibar, Tanzania. I had meetings with tour operators and hoteliers. I was in a taxi going from my hotel to a meeting with a tour operator and we were in the Embassy section of Nairobi when I passed a house with a sheepie sitting in the driveway behind the gate! I was amazed and if I could stopped I would have! I was very disapointed on my way back that the sheepie was no longer sitting there. It made me really miss Dudley and Oscar. I thought it is really neat that there is at least one OES in Africa. Kathie |

Val, it was about 80 degrees and very pleasant. The sheepie was in what I would call a long puppy cut. Definitely not in full coat. The house did not belong to any of the embassies, per se. This area has houses belonging to the diplomatic community, but many wealthier Kenyans live there as well. I was suprised. There are a number of pet stores in and around Nairobi and they also have a dog club. In fact there is a dog show this weekend in Nairobi and if I have can get on our flight (flights to Nairobi are very full) I am going to try to go. Kathie |

Sheepies herding giraffes would be funny. I just saw the Lion King musical last weekend... it would have been funny to see a sheepdog up there with all of the other African animals.  |
