Sheepie/fest!4 ROCKED!!!!

I say this every year, but this truly was the best SheepieFest! The weather was perfect--mid 70s, sunny, a gentle breeze, not humid. There was tons of delicious food. The silent auction raised about $500 for NEOESR--our accountant Debcram can give us an exact total when she recovers.

But the best part was seeing old friends, making new friends, and having about 30 sheepies all in one place. I hope Stacy's video of the sheepies running off leash and playing tug of war, wrestling with the jolly ball and just being silly turns out. It was a glorious sight to see all those dogs runrunrun. I didn't know sheepies could run so fast!

There were shaved sheepies, puppy cut sheepies, full coat sheepies, show sheepies, rescue sheepies, and Harley, the black Lab, and Kiera, the sheepie wannabe. All wonderful dogs. There were sheepies from Indiana, from downstate Illinois, from Wisconsin. Strangers would drive by our forest preserve grove and stop and stare. A mother, father, and their two children came over to visit so they got an introduction to sheepies and Debcram said "when those kids grow up, they will own sheepies."

I had such a grand time today and I hope everyone who attended did too. There will be some tired doggies (and owners!) tonight. Lots of pictures were taken and I hope the group shot turned out. Next year we definitely have to have a panoramic camera!

Thanks to all who attended and I hope y'all come back next year!

An absolute BLAST! We couldn't have asked for better weather and fantastic friends! A HUGE thank you to Paula for all her hard work and organization and especially in the selection of a wonderful forest preserve. Will download pictures soon.
It was great! As Paula told you, the weather was absolutely perfect!!!!! The food was not only delicious, but abundant!!! The dogs were fabulous (of course) and the upright were, as always were a treat to be with.

We have such a terrific group of people. I want personally thank Paula for taking control of this when I sort of let the ball drop. She found a perfect place for us.

She told you about the "ball" game in the meadow. Oh my gosh! It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It was like watching a bunch of 5th graders play ball. I swear those dogs are all clowns!

We all had a great time, and there are many people I love to mention, but right now, I'm just too plain tired.

I don't have a final figure, but we did raise approximately $500 for rescue. Our little group has a big heart.

Oh did I mention, when Stacy and Steve showed up, they bought enough paper plate, cups and plastic silverware to take care of the next 10 SheepieFests!

And (she writes guilitly) I ate 3, well maybe 4, cookies! But! They were worth it!

Thanks to everyone who came out today. Long live SheepieFest! Cuz, its all about the Sheepies!
Wow, it sounds like a whole lot of fun. Wasn't it a gorgeous day?!!!! Perfect day for being outside and having fun with the dogs. :D
My sob story:

We got lost and got there AS THE LAST SHEEPDOG WAS GETTING LOADED IN THE CAR TO LEAVE. I am so depressed
PICTURES and video have been posted. So please check back and select my camera icon. Ok, I gotta go get ready for bed. I'm beat!

Aw, Heather! I'm so sorry...your auction item was a hot one. We missed you. Hope to see you tomorrow!
It was a wonderful day, we had a lot of fun, sure thing Cubby was very tired and took a long nap when we got home. Boy....Fozzie and him became good wrestling partners. It was very nice to meet new people, what can I say...I had a blast!!!! :yay:

by the way, I uploaded pictures under Sheepiefest west oops..
The pictures and video are great. It looks like everyone had a wonderful time!
Ugh...I can't open them
How fun to see all the sheepies running around and having fun playing with each other.

Glad the weather cooperated and everyone enjoyed themselves.
This was the best SheepieFest ever! Johnny had a great time (and so did we).

Thanks for putting on a great event.

Ray
I wish we could have made it yesterday! I LOVED watching the videos especially when they are all running in a group. That is so cute!

I can't wait to get there today!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:
Great pics!

I have created a new album for SheepieFest Chicago 2007!

I moved some pics over to it... if I missed any, let me know!
Both Simon and Barkley said to say thank you sooooo much. They had so much fun playing with all the sheepies, Barkley loved playing tug of war and Simon just loves running and running etc... The only part Simon didn't like was getting brushed and brushed after chasing a squirel(sp) into the woods and coming out covered in burrs  (thanks so much for the loan of the brush). As for Randy and I, we loved seeing "old" friends, LOL and meeting new ones. The gift basket that we bid on had a toy that you put goodies in and as it rolls just right the treats fall out. It took Simon about five minutes to figure it out, he rolled it across the living room and picked up the treats.
Thank you to everyone who put this event together! :clappurple: :clappurple:

We had a great time meeting new folks, and watching all the sheepies go nuts with each other.

Laurie and Oscar
wow great pics must have been a blast
Am I the only one with pictures???
I just uploaded mine. Hope I did it right!
Nope, I've uploaded a few pictures, too. They're in the Sheepiefest Album.

It was so great meeting to finally meet you, Nita! I apologize for the delay in recognizing you initially. I was a bit out of it the last few days. XOXO
Great pictures! Boy, you guys in the Chicago certainly had a busy weekend.

Yea, Nita...he's sitting next to Keira (the brown and black bombshell) who refused to turn around too!!!! I think she's busy talking to Pirate.
Melissa, Izzie and I had a great time!! Thanks to everyone who made a long trip....it was nice having it close to home this year :D

I will post pictures tomorrow. I forgot my camera cord at home

Izzie apologizes for her diva behavior and the barking   She promises to be nicer next time.
I hope I'm doing this right. These message boards always confuse me! My name is Jeanne & my dog Neifi (the little shaved male) and I really enjoyed meeting everyone Saturday. I've known Kristine & Ray for a long time, but never found this site, nor managed to attend a sheepiefest before. Thanks for letting us join you!

Jeanne & Neifi
Hi Jeanne! It was wonderful to meet you! And you little guy, Neifi is so adorable!

I'm glad you've joined the forum. That way, we can keep tabs on you (heehee).

Welcome!

No, no, no - diva's never apologize! What good is being a diva if you have to apologize???

She was fine.

It was really nice meeting you & her.

Jeanne & Neifi

Jeanne - as I was told when I joined - you need to pop over to the introduction section and do just that. And tell people about your herding while you're at it!!

(Warning: they will want pictures. In addition to Lorettas :D )

KB
OK...I'll try to find it. I get so lost on these forum things. Give me a nice Yahoo group anyday!

Jeanne
This was my first Sheepiefest and I was amazed! I truly cannot remember having more fun than I did Saturday. I enjoyed meeting everyone and their people. So many nice folks. Nelson was an inspiration, he is so beautiful! Thanks to Paula for all the hard work organizing this event. I've got some good pics too. My only problem was trying to remember everybodies name... :? I look forward to many more events like this one. Frank and Daisy had a great time too! They stayed the night in a hotel for the first time. It was a vacation for them, with too much junk food and everything. I think Daisy had a "dog treat hangover".
I totaled up our auction. Including "sales" and the couple cash donations that were made, we've raised $520!!!!

I've email Grannie Annie who is thrilled. I will make an announcement on OES-L in a couple days, once the auction excitement has let up a bit.

Thank you everyone!!!

I had such a great time. It was wonderful to see our old friends, and to make new friends, who I hope will become old friends.

If anyone has suggestions for next year, please email them to me and I will start a file. debcram@yahoo.com

Hugs to all!
We had a great time at our 1st Sheepiefest! :yay: So glad to see Paula again and want to extend a special thanks to her and Deborah for organizing a great party. Whoever put in the order for fabulous weather is to be commended.

Yvonne & Wild Angel (they're "lurkers" here ) and Nelson and I want to thank everyone for making our trip from southeastern Indiana well worth the effort. It was wonderful meeting forum "regulars" like Deborah, Tony, Pirate & Keira, Stacy, Steve & Fozzie and Amanda, Melissa & Izzy, Simon's Mom & Dad... So many others I just can't remember everyone by name.

Too bad we missed meeting you, Heather :-( We probably passed you in the parking lot and didn't even know it. Maybe next time?

Thanks again, everyone!

If you have any questions, 100 different members would be thrilled to help you here.
Thanks, Ron. Kristine has been giving me pointers. I work from home, and just got a load of stuff dumped on me this afternoon. I'll do an intro soon! Promise!

Jeanne
Did anyone else walk around his/her office today with a big smile on their face :D ? Every time I think about the sheepies running around I grin from ear to ear. When my coworkers ask about my weekend I get strange responses such as "What is a sheepdog get together?", "What do you do there?". Geez, don't they know??? :D Why is this any different than going to an upright park or a kid's birthday party?
I keep telling everyone about it...and showing pictures.

Everyone wishes the day was over, cuz they are totally sick of me
Wow, $520!!!! That's pretty impressive. I feel bad for Tony that his donation did not sell. Maybe next year........
Yay...he felt a bit rejected. I thought it would sell.

We really did great! Paula, you brought such nice things!

I think Jan got the bargin of century!

I love my salt and pepper shakers, calendar and "After sheepie grooming spa" basket! Oh..by the way, the wine is gone...and no sheepies have been groomed! How the heck did that happen?!
i dont want to giggle, but what did tony make????

i just say blame it on Robert....you know you can always use that excuse forever now........
Darcy wrote:

ROTFLMAO
Poor Robert! We should have auctioned him! (Although, I've learned to love him.) Darcy! I could order one for you for Christmas!!!! :clappurple:

Tony didn't make anything. He bought and brought a Mobile DVD monitor/player for a car. Its an Eddie Bauer thing. He thought it would sell for a million bucks in a flash.

Not even one bid

Poor baby, I told him we could put it in the Shaggin' Wagon for the pups to watch cartoons on road trips.

NO thank you on the Robert gift...nice thought anyway..NOT! 8O

That dvd monitor can be used for OTHER movies besides cartoons......................

I have a suggestion - have it in Louisiana so I can attend next year!
Wynette, darlin'. If you can get your tushie up here, you are more than welcome to stay with us!

It may not be the Ritz, but we have hot water, clean beds, ice and scotch, and anything else in that vein that may float your boat!

And...if you bring the turduckin, I'll cook it! If you don't, don't worry, I'm a Jewish Mother and cant' refrain from cooking all sorts of yummy things!
Hi to all,
Me, Winston and Jim had a great time at Sheepiefest 4! There was plenty
of food to eat and everything was so good. There was nice conversation and fun with all the sheepies. I was nice seeing everyone and meeting new friends.
Winston was kind of shy. He did not go running too much. He is just a big 90 pound baby hiding by my side. But I know he had fun because he has been exhausted and sleeping the last two days.
We want to thank Paula for planning this event and doing such a GREAT Job! :clappurple:
Here are some pics and the rest are in Sheepiefest Chicago 2007 or click on my camera.

Thank you again Paula and Deb and can't wait till next year.

Stella, Sampson, Shaggy, and I are SOOOOO sad that we weren't able to make it. Everyone looks so happy in the pics!!
We were hoping you'd be there. You were missed
Okay, someone needs to take the group photo and photoshop all the names on/near each person/dog so I'll know who is who. :)

Jeanne - welcome! I love your avatar picture!!
Finally got my pictures on the computer...here are a few...

Amanda, those pics are really good!

And, I don't care what you say, I thought Izzy was adorable!
I told Yvonne that if Angel ever goes missing, she'd find her at my house. I love that little rescue girl! It's funny that Izzie barked only at certain other dogs.

I told the story at work about auctioning off my wedding ring (don't worry, I don't need it any more) and a co-worker said "maybe next year I'll give you mine for the auction!" She doesn't need hers either. Jan said the sheepie dust erased any bad mojo from it.
Jan is correct! AND! Now that you have removed the evil ring from your life, you can move forward and find new romance! Tell that to your co-worker, so she donates her ring to us too!

:hearts:
Anyone else going through Sheepie people withdrawal? I had so much fun that entire weekend. Wish every day could be that much fun! Can we plan a spring SheepieFest? Just a thought..
