My Beautiful Dog Run!

Here are a couple pictures of the dog run I had added to my property. Basically, I sectioned off a strip on the western side of my property between my house and the fence and added the lattice-like fence and trellis.

The shrubs and a couple trees were already there. One tree was added. I had it filled with pea gravel and a flagstone walkway. It has been so easy to clean! I love it. They have not yet finished the back fence section (which needs to be curved and painted).

They have also not built the doggie ramp/stairs -- there is just that temporary wooden structure that Maggie has to leap off and on. Chummie can't use the dogdoor exit yet. I had been thinking of it being a ramp but Chum actually seems to do better on very shallow stairs so the design had to change.

The dog run leads into a section of the garage that I had blocked off for them. That way, I can keep them out of the house but they can still have shelter.

Dog room. It will be filled with dog beds, etc. but the floors were just painted.

I also had a dog bath installed! The amount of work was incredible with plumbing, sewage hookup, and heating for the pipes, but I am thrilled to have a place to easily wash my dirty Maggie and pissy Chumley. I am going to move my grooming table and supplies out here too.

I feel like these modifications are making it so much easier to live with my two big furballs. I am really thrilled with how it all turned out. . .

This is so fabulous!! It is exactly what I had envisioned when you first talked about it and it has turned out marvelously! :D I am so envious!! :D
Wow Val, Everything you did look fabulous!
That tub is awesome and I'm sure it makes life easier.

Love the action shot of Maggie. :hearts:
Wow! That looks fantastic! I may be contacting you about the run.
It looks fantastic - I bet you're going to absolutely love that bath. I'm sorry - did I just drool a little?
OMG Val, that is awsome.. what a beautiful addition to your yard and I'm sure the girls love it...

But........... did you know there is Rhino in your yard?????
Who would ever think that a dog run would be pretty, right? There are actually some rose bushes planted along the trellis and my landscape designer swears they are going to grow up and over and really make an impact. . .

I am SURE when those roses climb that trellis and bloom it will be absolutely HEAVENLY in your back yard!! :D
That is really beautiful. Hopefully you never have a wood chewing dog to wreck that lovely lattice. :)

Can't wait to see it next summer with the roses in bloom. Very cool!

I am not too worried about that. I think there will also be plenty on the ground to keep Maggie occupied (bones, balls, etc.). And the construction is surprisingly sturdy. It is not made of those flimsy lattice panels. It feels very solid. The posts are steel columns with a wood surround that are bolted into cement that was poured in the ground. The most important thing is that they cannot get out (over, under or through).
When having the plumbing work done, did you have hookups for my motorhome added? :plead:

LOL! I've actually noticed that whenever I tell men about the plumbing in the garage, they all ask if I had a toilet installed out there. Why on earth would I have a toilet in the garage?? I've been clued into some male fantasy about being so engrossed in a DIY project that you need to have your toilet right there with you.

So no waste water hookups -- just grey drainage water. The other major bonus in the garage is I had hookups for a washer and dryer added. This will come in handy for the dog beds and towels. . .
I don't know about a toilet.... but a sink is great!

You're right!

I have a "utility bath" located right at the house's door to the garage -- another inch and I guess it would be in it, and the guy who built the house was very proud of that! LOL It has a sink, hopper and stall shower. I think the hopper could have been avoided and a larger sink installed, but there ya go.

I am really excited about the huge sink -- not just for the dogs but also for washing things like car mats, etc. Big messy stuff that I don't want to bring down to the utility sink in my basement. . .

I wonder if the neighbors are aware that reptilian danger lurks mere inches from their property line...

Oh yes! They have all commented. . .
Valerie, your animals are awesome! I love the crock!

My grandma used to have these 2foot chicken statues in her yard. I loved those too! My mom has pictures of me "riding" them when I was little.
What a dream! That's fantastic.
It looks great! So undog run-like, which is probably the best part. It's just part of your yard but it happens to be for the dogs. I love, love, love the bath station! I can't wait until I can do something like that, too.

I feel like you should races down the dog run. You could set up a little lure on top of the trellis or drag in underneath and slide it down to get her to chase it.

I have a utility sink in our porch. It is large and rectangular, and the floor of the porch is painted cement, so easy cleanup. You will love yours. (but I wish mine was a big dog sized one! I can only fit the smaller ones in mine.)
8O WOW!! 8O

What a fantastically beautiful dog run! :clappurple: And all the amenities in the garage are just icing on the cake! :cheer: You are amazing in your commitment to your furbabies, Val. Kudos!!
Gorgeous!
Wow! That;s the prettiest dog run I've ever seen! Your lucky dogs!
Val, you have out done yourself! it is just beautiful!! it should go in a magazine......the girls will just love that.....your taste is exceptional!
Wow Val, that really looks GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will make life so much easier for you and the puppers!!!!

Mine came compliments of one of my daughters from when they were in their teens. Something about winning it....didn't ask too many questions... 8O
No parent claimed it at the graduation open house, so I guess it lives here from now on.
OH VAL- this is such a GREAT set-up ... and I am SO- SO-SO jealous!

The sink and laundry facilities will so helpful with your gals. The pissy part- I can relate very well.
Wowza absolutely gorgeous. Love the run and love the set up for bathing and grooming and snoozing fur kids. Fantastic, (spoilt dogs. :P )

Great job on it all Val just perfect and so pretty with the roses in and lattice etc.

Really well thought out the whole area, blends so well into the house and garden, again WOW. :D
Holy Crap, all that looks super. Guess no one can ever say you don't do enough for your furkids!!! All the dogs here are now begging for their own for Christmas. ...the dogrun. I'm sure they want far away from any tub/bath. ;)
I don't even know what to say It looks soo cool! :!:
Beautiful! Had to chuckle with the steel posts. Been thru a few Boulder blows, huh?

Love the cleaning station.....is that area heated? I'm willing to bet you didn't put in radiant floors......or did you

My dream is a laundry room with dog station for cleaning and grooming.....you've gone way beyond that dream.

Good job!

No, that particular area is not heated but all of the pipes are enclosed in a closet that is heated. Having been here last winter, I didn't find that there were a huge number of very cold days. So I think it will get alot of use year-round.
Love it

Your garden is amazing and the dog run is great and the sink for the dogs ......

I'm sooooooo jeleous!!

I want one too!
WOW!!!! I'm almost speechless....Almost..which is even an effort for me!

That is amazing!!! I love the rhino and croc , the dog run, room, everything!

It's so perfect!!

Marianne
can i ask how much it cost to put up the dog run...who did you use?
Did you do it yourself? beautiful...
I am VERY envious of the dog run. This is very much like what I would love to have. Wonder if I can convince hubby that it would be a worthwhile project......

Right now the dogs have the run of our small yard which would be ok but it is extremely incompatible with my flower beds. Archie and Merlin were pretty good: I'd have to give over the lilies of the valley which was no big deal after they bloomed, and Merlin loved laying in my attempt at a strawberry patch, but other than that, they were good. Sophie and Sherman: forget about it! Hubby is no help at all and now my work takes me away much more than I want.
looks great what a great job you did ..
