Leo - 10 month old in N. TX!

I saw an ad on craigslist on Sunday for a 10 month old male OES needing a new home. I emailed the owner and he called me back. The story goes - Leo was left with a friend when his original owner went on a long trip. The original owner never returned and the friend asked around at work if someone wanted him and that's how he ended up with Bill and his family. Turns out, Bill and his family are way too busy and just didn't realize what kind of demand they were getting into with a big, rambunctious puppy and now poor Leo spends a lot of time alone, so they'd like him to find a good home.

He's very kid friendly and neutered. I don't know about cats - I'll ask tomorrow. He's always been in a nice home, never been abused, so I'm sure he's going to make a great pet for someone.

I told Bill I was certain we could find Leo a good home, and I'd even foster him for a time if necessary. Someone pop in here and want him bad because my husband is going to kill me for that. 8) Bill took the ad off craigslist (yay!) and is going to email me the pictures - hopefully tonight - and I'll post them. They have Leo shaved down right now.

If you're interested, PM me. I'm going to have to drive to TX on Sat. to pick him up if nobody comes through - and then he'll be in OKC.

That sounds awesome. The more the merrier!

I have mine, plus 2 basset fosters at the moment. (Yes, that means I really have 9 dogs at my house......  ) The 2 are a bonded pair, and JD just got neutered today. So I am nurse Dawn to him while he is recovering. His foster mom is not real comfortable with medical stuff, and I am her sub.

I hope all goes well with Leo - pictures too!!!
:) I registered so I could answer any questions that readers had.
I saw the ad too and had written to Texas OES Rescue yesterday morning just in case they had an applicant looking for a sheepie-boy.

This is him... right? He is SO adorable.

Oh good, Hi Bill! :D

I uploaded the pictures, just waiting for admin approval so I can post them.

BTW, Bill mentioned that Leo is fine with cats and has two blue eyes. 8)

Yes, Jaci - that's him pre-shave. Isn't he beautiful?
Absolutely!
I fell in love when I saw his picture. :hearts:
Thanks for helping him out :D
We contacted Texas OES back in July and really felt like the dude we talked to was judging us for wanting to give him a home where he could get more attention. My kids want to keep him, but we both work in school, our kids all have activities and sports after school, and we sometimes don't get home until very late. I walk Leo every morning at 5:00 for just over a mile, and he gets walked by my son after school. It has been obvious to us for quite a while that he needed more attention than we were giving him. I appreciate the help I am getting here. He is a great dog, very playful, and very intelligent. I don't very often because of the leash law here, but he will stay with me even without his leash when we walk. He doesn't stay in the "heel" position, but he doesn't run away either.
I actually wrote to the wrong rescue the first time (sigh... I wrote to Pat in Arizona the night before  ). I'm very sorry you didn't find the assistance you had hoped for back in July. But I'm soooo glad Leo's going to be in the hands of someone experienced with OES, who's rescued before and has a big heart.

Please keep us posted Raquel!!
I can't wait to see pictures :D

By the way... 3 of mine came from Texas as pups so I've got a soft spot for sheepies with a southern accent
OK, photos are added. How can you resist??? C'mon....you know you want him! Please, contact me if you do. :D
(These are pre-shave down.)

You knowwwwwwwww.. Canada is not that far away from Texas......I'm sure it can be arranged.. with the help of some sheepie friends............
I am already waiting for my husband to come home with our rescue Katie. Too bad we can't have 3!!! Nigel makes up about 2 right now...I keep finding baby teeth!!!
I gave my hub the puppy eyes, and pretty please and 2 sheepies and poodle and 2 cats well he said no, but sorry.. but if we had a farm.
any info on this guy?
We just got home with Leo. Met Bill and his girls in Texas and Bill called it...."You're going to end up keeping this dog!" Well....I honestly have no intention and so many people who are interested....and I just knew that my husband would have no part in having three....but he is SMITTEN with Leo. He's actually bargaining with me to keep him. Holy heck my house is not big enough for a family of five plus three big dogs! Not sure about that at all, but the story is not yet finished.

Leo is the largest 10 month old OES I have ever seen. When I first saw him I realized he was very tall, but not having mine right there to compare - I didn't realize how tall! He has at least 4 inches on Winston - who is 90 lbs...Leo is going to be a huge dog.

Winston and Lacy are most unimpressed right now...so really not sure how that's going to go. Winston is old and doesn't want anybody in his face anymore, and Lacy's been bred so much, she doesn't want anything to do with a young, male dog. They've each already told him how the land lies. Winston is all talk, but Lacy might actually be an issue for him.

I uploaded some pictures, just waiting for approval. He's A-DORABLE.
Congrats! Can't wait to see the latest pic of him.

You are wonderful for trying to find a better life for your adorable sheepie boy. I am sure it is hard because he is so darn cute. It takes a big heart to know that he might have a better life with someone else. I adopted my two sheepies and I am so grateful for the families that gave them to me. I wish everyone involved the very best. I am so excited to hear how it develops with RDF's crew. . . The first batch of pictures is awesome. . .
Wow is he CUTE!!! :hearts:
Leo had a good night overall. He was a little nervous and sure didn't understand why nobody was ready to walk him at 5:00am! 8O ("Sorry, buddy - I am ASLEEP.") But he settled in and did just fine. When I got up at the "ridiculously late" hour of 6:30, he bounded and leaped...I kept thinking, "The wonderful thing about Tiggers are Tiggers are wonderful things. Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs...."

He's trying so hard to get the old man and the grumpy girl to play with him. They're still being jerks.

Here he his in the car on the way home:

Here's where he figured out who he really needs on his side:

I think I've got a matching sheepie... this sounds like Panda behavior
Boy are you in for a lot of laughs. Just make sure if he comes charging at
you that his sheepie-brakes work! I sometimes question Panda's grace
and vision
Lookit that tongue! 8O
OMG!!! What a doll. :hearts: Glad you all made the trip safely.
all I can say is awwwwwww
Update - Leo is going to a new home here locally. I interviewed a lot of people (gosh, 11?!), and had two here in the city who really wanted him (makes the logistics much easier, that's for sure!) but in the end it worked out that he's going to a home of some friends I've known for 6 or 7 years now - and they are completely in love with him. The best part is that it satisfies my selfishness of wanting him nearby. ;)

Winston adapted pretty quick and even gave Leo a couple minutes of play - not bad for an old man. But Lacy wasn't going to have anything to do with him. He tried to mount her twice and he's lucky I was there to break them up. 8O She's had enough of those young guys, I think. :(

Oh - yesterday I took a pretty rough fall....I'm fine but the only reason to tell the story here is that he ran to me while I was on the ground (thinking I was about to (um...no barf emoticon here? WTH?) LOL Anyway, he nudged me over and over and licked all over my face - it was precious how he was trying to take care of me.

Leo is wonderful - I'm going to miss not having him attached to me at all hours of the day and night. What a clod. Love that guy. :hearts:
Yaaahhhhhh!

:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
He looked like such a sweetheart. I'm glad you could find him a good home but still have a piece of him for yourself!
Congrats! That's wonderful.

And I am one of the few people on here who knows where "The City" is located. I was born and raised there.

ROFL - until you said that I didn't even realize I said "The City"! Baja Oklahoma...hmmm, West TX?
I love happy endings :clappurple: :yay:  :cheer: :hearts:
Nope, just 220 miles south of The City. Even though we've lived here for 18 years, I am NOT a texan. And never will be.
My best friend is from T-town, the land of hills and trees. And we met down here.
Blue eyes too. How pretty!
