Cleaning up the Carpet tips!!!!

Good Afternoon All,

I have been searching the internet for handy tips and hints on hygienic ways to clean my carpet after it gets covered in dog poo.

I already own a Vax carpet shampooer and use the smelly solution that goes with it, and I am presently buying packets of Anti-Bacterial wipes, and go through stacks , generally about 2-3 packets a day. Can't use the lemon ones as they leave a foul smell, I try and these nice smell lavender ones.

In the interests of hygiene, and the interests of costing me such a lot of pennies, I wondered if anyone had come across another cheaper or more hygienic formula, one that won’t harm my babes, or cause irritation. The hygiene is very important as I have eczema and my hands are often open to infection - I do wear latex free and powder free gloves when cleaning, however, I don’t always get time as if my big lad makes a mess, it can be quite unexpected. Any cleaning tips or ideas would be most helpful.

Thanks - Hez

As a fellow sufferer of eczema, switching to laminate flooring was one of the best things that I could have ever done in terms of easier clean up of dog messes-- both on the floor and on my hands. However, that's not a good solution for you right now!

One of the best things that I've ever purchased was the Bissel Little Green Clean Machine for cleaning carpets. It's more portable than a giant carpet shampooer and is really handy to pull out and use at a moment's notice and it's very effective. The solution that it takes has virtually no odor and won't leave the carpet super smelly either. And, my favorite part, you never have to let any chemicals touch your hands or even bother with gloves. It's definitely a product I couldn't have lived without during housetraining time!
Butterstotch,

Thank you for that, I have nevr heard of Bissel Little Green Clean machine, but I will do a search on the interent to see if this is sold in England or not.

Thank you
Hez
We use mainly ,soda water or cider vinegar and mop up with paper towels, then go back with a carpet shampoo later, if needed.
I did hear the Queen does the same thing when the Gorgi's mess up. Give it a try.

Roger.
