I don't know but I am not going near it ! :twitch:

Does anyone else's dogs do this? I don't know if it is rabbit poop or what but they both go in the yard and find that spot and roll in it !

My Terrier mix, Lacey is famous for doing this.
I have also seen Pepsi do it a time or two.
But Lacey is the only one that seems to roll is smelly stuff. YUCK!

My Boxer, Roxie (at the Bridge) used to do this too. She always found the smelliest stuff to roll in. Usually poop. 8O

You have the makings of a "See Spot Run Primer".....
Mine try to do it! When I catch them in the act I don't usually see anything. Once I did see a dead bug :? Fozzie's friend apparentlly does this to dead worms.
Max...my cocker (At The Bridge)...used to rub his face on earth worms that would crawl up on the sidewalk after a good rain. Eeeeewwwwww!!!! When I would catch him in the act...he would look up at me with a squished dead worm hanging from one side of his face like "Chill out mom....it's just a worm"!!! 8O
Ewww!
I did not think of the earth worms ! :lmt: We have a ton of them here, I bet that is it!

Oh and the "Chill out mom it's just a worm" Is totaly EWWWWW !!!

Miss Ellie lives to find the biggest pile of dirt to munch on, with a roll in the most vile smelling substance she can find, as a chaser. She hasn't done worms yet, thank goodness we live in a dry climate.....
Ahhhh there are exhibiting wolf like behavior - seriously!

In the wild wolves often roll in other animals excrement or dead animals. Why is that you ask? Well ..wolves do it so they can otherwise throw off their scent and disquise themselves somewhat, when they go hunting in packs.

So you've just seen your sheepie boys displaying something their ancestors did long ago....watch out..they'll be raiding the fridge in the middle of the night! You'll probably think one of the uprights in the home did it ...ha ha!

Marianne
I wouldn't want to know what it is either. But apparently it is a favorite spot in your yard.

Marianne, Thanks , I did not know that ! That is soooo interesting and it make's a lot of sense. :D

And to think I thought it was my daughter in the fridge in the middle of the night....lol

My guys do that quite often, but usually I can't detect any obnoxius odor when they come in --- except for several weeks ago, when Maggie came in not with the odor but with a brown shoulder. She just signed her doom for bath time! :(
I already wrote about Mulligan rolling his shoulders, from elbow to elbow in turkey dung, but I'll mention it again because it smelled so awfully bad.
I have worm rollers too...
:(

but the worst group roll was whan Macy brought a dead decomposing winter-killed carp up from the lake. Before I could get a shovel to throw it in the burning barrel, 5 dogs rolled in it!!!
Bath assemby line time at my house.
Years ago my family had a Irish Setter that loved beach spawing fish. He would eat them, roll in them, then do somthing that can only be discribed as scooting on his but with some under him. He was the dog the we initiated the emergency evacuation plans for, because after getting home he was gassy dog. The military would have been intrested if it has not been for the ban on chemical weapons, It only got worst as he aged. Bbbut we did love his stinky red being, and we do miss the weirdness. :hearts:
