My New floors.......

Ok, So We are still working on the floors-(now the whole house) you know how one thing leads to another  .

I wanted to share what we have done so far.

We had to remove the fireplace marble to adjust it for the 3/4 of a inch we were going to add in the new solid wood floors.
So what the heck we rented some scaffolding (spelling?) and painted the whole room a mushroom color. :D
Then since we could reach the 17 feet up to the ceiling now we decided to add BIG crown molding (the hard part was painting it :phew: ) .
Then what the heck ,we took out the ceiling fan and put up a chandelier :D .
I also added curtain rods and am going to make some drapes.
We decided to go with 20 inch porcelain tile in our entry way instead of the wood but we are still working on that.

So here are some in the process pictures:

Harley looking at all the wood ! You can see the old floor to the right and the new to the left.

Harley picking what floor he likes better .... I am so glad he likes the new floor !

i love the darker color.....but beware of doggie foot prints, they show up more!!
It looks great. I really like the color of your walls. What kind of paint is it?
Yea, I found out the hard way !

Especially Junior the big messy foot dog ,looks like big foot runs through the house every morning. 8O

Thanks Jill. :D
It is a Ralph Lauren color called mushroom but I had it made in the Behr paint at Home Depot ,flat washable enamel for 1/2 the price.

Wow, it looks fabulous! :D
My walls are very similar - Behr - Toasted Wheat in the living room and hallway. Then we did Arabian Sands in the master suite two weeks ago(okay it's not totally done yet  ) it's a shade or two lighter.

I love, love, love, the dark wood!!

Now I need to replace my bedroom furniture with either white or dark wood. The bleached oak I have now just seems to look drab.
Where to start? I LOVE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE DO FAR! I love the big crown molding...my weakness. lol Love the wall color, we have similar in our kitchen. Don't you just love the Behr brand, it is so great and wears forever. The wood floors, fantastic! I am looking forward to more pics as your renovation continues. Good luck!
Wowzers!!! Antoinette you've been busy and I'm so impressed!!!

I can't imagine the difficulty of putting up that crown molding..makes me dizzy just thinking about it! The floors, walls , furniture look fantastic - you've done a FABULOUS job!!!!!! :clappurple:

Marianne
Beautiful! Your house looks gorgeous and big!!!
Crown molding, you deserve a DIY award! Unless you have the only house in the world with walls that are really square.
Mentioning crown molding in my house equates to grounds for divorce. (that's what I get for marrying a perfectionist. He doesn't understand that caulk was invented to fill gaps in the crown molding cut).

I love your windows!
What a gorgeous room it is. Tell me you recycled the flooring you removed right? Never mind just me being thrifty.
Sooooooooo pretty!!! I love your house :)
It all looks really beautiful!
Very pretty- Nice job!
Beautiful. I really love the color and the crown.
That's what I love about you Wyn...you are so ME! I wondered about the same thing! Antoinette did you recycle the previous floor? Inquiring minds want to know!

Wyn's twin :D
Everything looks beautiful :clappurple:

Wynn twins...(to funny) , actually we had to leave them in place.

We would have had to scrape them up since they were a man made (Engineered wood) and glued down .
Then we would have had to lay down a new sub floor which would have been 10 times more work and about $1000.00 more. :|

Divorce was close !!!
Our wall (or floor) are anything but square ! There was a lot of bad words used while putting up the crown 8O and (you were right) A ton of calking ! Thank God for calk.......

And thanks for the compliments everyone. :D

You have amazing taste and such a beautiful home! I'm just curious, what was wrong with the old floor? It looked good to me but I do like the darker one better.

Thank you ! :D :D

We had someone who said that they could sand down and re-stain our floors ,even though Engineered wood floors normally can not be re-done.
So we paid him to do them and left for the TOES picnic on Sep 8. We came home to destroyed floors.
The old floor would not except the stain here is a picture .It was soooo blotchy. :x Yuck!

So as the old saying goes if you want it done right you got to do it yourself (and a month latter we are still doing it..lol) . :phew:

Antoinette
Wow - what you've done so far looks fabulous! I love it all - the wall color, the crown molding, the new floors - you've got excellent taste. Can't wait to see the finished product! :D
No engineered floors cannot be sanded and refinished. I'm sorry you went thru this, but posting the pix will hopefully put an end to such nonsense. Since OES.org posts end up in "searches" on the net, might I suggest you repost the horrible picture and retitle to something that will be picked up quickly in a websearch ....maybe El Ron could help.

Sorry about the disaster, but look at the pretty floors and rooms now!!
Your house is beautiful!!

I love decortaing and DIY!
can i come visit ?? very nice love the new floor..
