I need to vent

I'm so glad this website leaves it up to you to be an adult and doesn't wrap chains around your throat like others.

Scenario. I sign up for another board (maltese forum) and never got my activation email so I could login. I DID check my spam mail. I wrote their admin and they said "it's in my junkmail, and if it isn't, then you need to take it up with hotmail because you apparently deleted it. our emails are sent immediately. don't email us about this again."

I had only written 1 email.
Talk about sticks up their....

Under avatar pics, it says "you can load up a pic up to a certain size (forgot the number)" Then it says if you try doing this twice, we will ban you from your picture priviledges. They ARE aware that most of the people who post on their forum have never worked with a computer and MOST LIKELY didn't intentionally post a large picture?

Let's not get into if you ask a question and decide to throw in a little about yourself. They'll delete parts of your posts just because it's long (yet nothing against the useragreement).

In their useragreement, it says, "if you call your dog "it" you will be banned. You must refer to it as he or she." While I understand, they consider it a bannable offense??? It's easy to make the mistake while writing, and even if it's not what I'd call my dog, it's a silly "written rule."

You are also not allowed to ask advice on your dog if it is only "Half" or "Three-quarters" maltese. :o

The guy who owns the site attempts to control all that is "maltese discussions" on the world wide web. It's the largest and really only REAL maltese discussion forum, but you can never contact another user about their bad breeder, you can never talk to them about a good breeder, or even talk about a great product you found. I think there is a huge difference between "Advettising for a company" and being a fanatic who just wanted to share what they found. People get banned for saying "Iams."

Drives me and other users bonkers, yet some of them have medical or behavior problems and post b/c they know they'd get the best advice.

/end rant

Anyways, was so gald to come here to learn more about OES' w/o being chained.

Your post is so true about the Forum. Ron has done such a great job on this site and does a wonderful job on moderation. At times we have disagreed with each other but Ron will gentally remind us that it is okay to agree to disagree and to not take it personally. The people that come here are all really great and for the most part keep the discussions cival. I also think that the ability to talk about a wide range of subjects and less restrictions keep the forum a friendlier place. Thanks Ron for creating such a wonderful place to be 8)
Here here. This is a great forum, others should learn from it. Keep it up Ron!
This place is great. I have learned so much thanks to everyone here. Ron you're the best.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, but hey, this place would be NOTHING without all of YOU.

I get all the credit, while you all create the content, and you guys and gals all make my life very easy. That's a good deal for me.

Sheepdog people are special.
Ron does do a great job!

I have some thoughts on why Sheepdog owners are special-

1- they must have PATIENCE- when you are holding a treat- saying "sit"
but your big furball is jumping up and licking your face - for the ump-
teenth time, you must take a deep breath and start again.
2- they must have a SENSE OF HUMOR- we all know that digging in the
wet black garden comes after the bath, not before.
3-they must have PERSEVERENCE, all those mats and tangles, and only so
many hours in a day
4- they must have GRACE, when you spot your reflection in the deli case
at the grocery store only to note that there are two big black pawprints
on the rear of your pants, it takes a lot of grace to pull it off as a
fashion statement.
5- they must be BRAVE- cleaning up after the OES in the backyard is not
for the faint of heart.
6- they must have COURAGE- taking your OES for a walk, just you and
that relatively thin strip of leather.
7- they must posess the ability to LOVE- a great deal- because it is the
sheepie in the house who dictates how much loving there will be, and if
your house is like my house- it's constant wet kisses, snuggles,
rassles, and cow noises, and that's just befroe breakfast!

All good traits for anyone- all a part of the OES owner's make up!

Up

p.s. I think other breeds are great too- I'm just a little partial to these guys- I also think the major thing all OES owners have in common is that we are jsut a little bit 'crazy' too - that's good crazy!
Up, I'm printing this and posting it on my fridge. It's so true.
cher
Tanyathenurse here.........I can NOT believe a site for people who love their maltese would get banned for silly wording issues!!!LOL!!! our pets are our family YES however using the IT might comeoout when typing its alot easier than typing their name sometimes but I sure wont let mickey read it  !!hehe!!

This board is wonderful, theres no names slinging or people starting crap like highschool BS,and it is a joy to read about everyones silly OES.I have also learned ALOT about my boy through all you awesome people, and Ron I dont know ya but it seems your one heck of a guy ~smooch~

By the way my daughter has a 6yr old 1/2 maltese 1/2 yorkie his name is eddie been her buddy since she was 14months old we got him to grow up w/ her,if you told him he was only 1/2 maltese he'd turn his nose up at ya since he thinks he is 100% pit bull!!!LOL!!
 Hey.... the better half might get jealous.
Tanyathenurse, that's hilarious. I have seen that mix before and LOVE them. Absolutely adorable blend and color. :)

My Maltese does something OES' are known for. Whenever someone is in trouble in my house (4-legged or 2-legged), she somehow backs them into a corner and holds them there (as a form of discipline).
I've got to say I love this site too! Everyone has been nothing but helpful and suportive! :D I know I can't post much because I don't have a OES yet - but I love coming here and reading about everything. I've been apart of a couple dog forums before - but this one is the most laid back and fun.

Is it just me, or hasn't anyelse noticed that sheepdog owners tend to be a LOT like their pets? CLOWNS!!
