What dog food do you feed NOW?

I was looking through the last poll at what people fed their dogs, mainly looking to see what I had posted because I feel like I've learned so much about dog nutrition, my ideas of what a good food is and what is good for my dogs has changed immensely since I first started here. Also, I know with a lot of the recalls earlier this year, many people changed their dogs' food. So, even though many of us have answered this question once, it may be helpful to hear what you're feeding or doing differently now.

If you feed something else, please post about it and tell us why you like it.
(Sorry, I wanted to include more choices to just pick from but there's a limit to how many you can list!)

I feed Purina One Sensitive Systems. The main ingredient is Salmon:

• Real salmon provides an omega-rich protein source for your sensitive dog
• Easily digestible ingredients, like rice and oat meal, for your dog's sensitive stomach
• High levels of skin-essential nutrients (Vitamin E and Omega Fatty Acids) help avoid dry skin
• Contains natural sources of glucosamine to help maintain healthy joints
• Formulated with yogurt and other highly digestible protein sources

Tasker has a very sensitive stomach and lots of allergies, he has done very well on it.
I feed a mixture of what TASKER'S MOM feeds and Science Diet z/d. Reason being: allergies, firm stools

Lately it's just been SD and she only poops one small poop a day. Amazing considering how big I know they can get on just Purina Sensitive Systems or Iams.
Izzie is now on a raw diet....her poop is finally normal, she is calmer and healthier in general.
Mine are all on Nutro Natural Choice lamb and rice large breed. Chewie and Tazz are also getting the Nutro Ultra Puppy mixed 50/50 with the regular food. They need the extra calories and fat.

But I rotate foods, and will be switching again soon.
I do mostly raw or home cooked, add the dry as a filler, eagle pack holisitic or Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance organic.

Sometimes the dry is easier especially when travelling or away from home.

Try to stick to fresh ingredient most of the time rather then prepared commercial dog food all the time.
We now feed Wellness (the specialty formula that comes in duck or venison) to Rebecca and Haggis and Frank is still on his prescription Purina HA for his Irritable Bowel Disease.
JUST got back from getting another bag of food for yuki. The price went up to $73 a bag. Good grief. thank goodness she isn't a mastiff.

8O 8O I hope that is for a VERY BIG BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
18lb :( I hate the prices here. Maybe I can look online..
Barkley eats the Purina Veterinary Diets JM (Joint Mobility) formula.

We chose it because that's what the breeder feeds all of her full-grown dogs, and based on the recommendation of the vet. It's got some additional ingredients that are supposed to delay the onset and lessen the severity of arthritis, and keep them mobile longer, hence the JM designation. Based on the breeder's active 14-year old dog, I'd say it seems to do the trick (at least, in that one case).

For that much money, and her given her allergies, have you tried BARF or home cooked? Usually dogs do well on those diets and it seems like a more economical choice.
VCA in Eagle River. ...and my bad. I was looking at the bag in the kitchen closet. I just took the new bag out and it's 27lbs. Price still went up almost 20bucks.

I also left my credit card there. They paralyzed my brain from thinking once I saw the new price. Grrr. ;)
Wow - that is high. :o I've got to go to PetsMart on my way home. I want to price a bag of Purina One Sensitive Systems just to compare. :?
Ouch.

Does Yuki qualify for a Permanent Fund distribution?

I can't remember the exact price but a 20lb bag of SS's is around $23.00.
I checked at the local PetsMart when I went in yesterday afternoon. The 37lb bag of Purina One Sensitive Systems was $26.99 with your Petperks card and $28.99 regular price. Huge difference! :o
I lied. It turns out our local store has had problems with the Innova supplier so he'll no longer be receiving it so we're trying Eagle Pack Holistic got large breeds. For the first time ever, Bear seems really excited to eat so it must be good! Clyde, however, seems less than enthused and has been only nibbling a little rather than finishing. Seeing as how he could stand to drop a few pounds, I'll let this continue for a little while before I start to worry...
Jill - how has the switch gone? Are you still using the Eagle Pack?
Yeah, they all seem to really like it and it's going well for them. I switched to the regular adult instead of large breed (the store was out) and, for some reason, even Clyde likes this one more. Guess we'll be sticking with it for awhile!
What is the protein source? We are lamb and rice now, so the switch I make next will need to be something other than lamb.
This one is lamb but the first one was chicken. The only difference I noticed is lamb looks a little darker. Otherwise, it looks and smells the same.
We give Bella Ecubana large puppy but since she is now a year old I was wodering two things. When should we change to adult food? and What is a good diet for a sheepdog. It's been a while since we had a puppy.

She should be done with puppy food. One year is a pretty long time to still have her getting all that protein. As for your other question regarding diet, just read back through these posts or do a search for food or feeding in the search bar at the top and you'll get thousands of posts and thousands of opinions! It's a popular topic.
I feed ANF and Precept
Jill, thanks for mentioning Eagle Pack on a post a while back! Allie loves her food now! I mix Eagle pack (adult dry) with her Nutro dry and she gobbles it down. It has been about 2 weeks now. I dont have to give her any moist mixed in it at all. The price was only about 2.00 more a bag then Nutro. I thought about giving her just the Eagle, but dont want her to get bored again.
Maizie and Hattie are on James wellbeloved! Fish&rice! they love it!!!
We feed Dick Van Pattens Natural balance, salmon, sweet potato, allergy formula.
Both yorkie and summer are on Arden Grange chicken and rice adult. The yorkie loves it dont have to put any grated cheese on to start her off. First time I have ever had a 10lb yorkie and a 3st 6 lbs dog eating same food, so much easier!
I have to put in my props for Innova Large Puppy food. Our Vet recommended it and it scored in excess of 100 points in the Dog Food rating criteria I found on the site. He loves it, he is growing and growing and growing some more. We have had no stool issues and he is full of energy and seems to be doing quite well. We buy the 18 pound bags at our local Pet Supply store and pay about $26 or $27 a bag. We even will be getting a free bag once we buy 10. The way he gobbles it down, that may be pretty soon.
Yuki is happy on Wellness ...and no itching or licking ....okay occasionally when we leave, she's ATE her butt, but it's a behavioral thing.

Mequpak... this gets kind of interesting. He came from the breeder, eating eukanuba and pro plan performance, so naturally I wanted to keep him on that. Well, as the bag went down, I started adding a little Wellness Puppy. Then I started to think? Why the heck am I paying more for wellness when he does good on this pro plan? ...but I still have to get rid of the puppy wellness, so he's actually finishing off 3 brands of foods. :? When I gave him Wellness for one of his meals, I think that's what he hated. So this actually benefits him too. He has 10x better stomach than Yuki. In the end, he'll just be getting Pro Plan Salmon Sensitive stomach (called something like that).
:) We have tried many brand of dog food like Canadea,Innova,Nutro choice,Orijen,Solid Gold-Barking at the moon ect,but after many reserch,we finnaly decided to feed them the Raw Neaty Bone, they has less poop and great teeth since they started with it,I'm totally satisfied with the results.
I'm getting kind of fed up with pro plan, I think it's time to try something else or go back to Iams. I know Iams is technically crap food, but my dogs always did great on it.
Jenny is still on Purina Pro Plan Puppy for large breed.
