It's a Male thing....sort of

I picked this up on a local obedience club training site. Since there has been some concern lately about the habits of the make OES, it might be good to look at the issue as the dog sees it.

Today I am a Man, Sort of........
by Lillian Seldeen

Today I reached a milestone, and important one for me.
Instead of squatting like a girl, I raised my leg to pee.
I really wasn't thinking, as I hurried past that tree.
It just cried out for marking, by someone much like me.
It's really very easy, just lift and squeeze and squirt.
You can do it on a tree, you can do it in the dirt.
It's there for all who may come by, it tells my own story.
It says this tree belongs to me, it's my terr-tory.
My mom got all excited, but my sister Tramp just sniffed.
Hey buster.... she seemed to say... You think you got a gift?
She scratched the ground; she moved her butt and them proved me a liar.
She raised HER leg and let it rip, and hers was even HIGHER!
I stared at Tramp is disbelief, I felt like such a fool.
She kicked some dirt right in my face, then walked away so cool.
And as she left she turned to me, eyes glinting like a jewel...
I learned my lesson well today, in all things, chicks rule!!!

I love it!
good one so true
What a great poem...............Thanks George!!!!!!
Ha ha! I love it! Today Rags lifted her leg on a tree at the dog park. She has never done this before. She was trying to mark a spot a male dog just had. I just looked at her and shock my head.
Hahaha!!! Stella is an alpha-female type of girl. She sometimes lifts her leg. She also does the dirt kicking thing... it's hilarious.

I don't like my boy dogs to lift their legs, lol... When Brooklyn went through therapy dog training the trainer actually encouraged the owners not to let their male dogs lift their legs as this would encourage marking behavior. I don't know if this is true or not, but I know that Shaggy is a leg lifter and has attepted to mark every inch of our backyard. He was caught earlier today attemptting to mark in the house bu I startled him and got him outside real quick... then he had to go to time out for a little while, lol.
Good one, George!

My lab Macy was a leg lifter in her younger day. At 14 she can't stand that well on 3 legs.......
YAY Girls Rule :P

Thanks for the laugh george, I pinched this one to keep on file, thought it very appropriate.
This is great. Boni actually started to lift his leg up today and as he was peeing he slowly put his leg back down. He was pretty cute though. :D
 Thanks for the smile
Hilarious! And so true.
:excited: Thanks for the chuckles George!

Marianne
 That's so cute!
