Late night snacking

I've recommitted to Weight Watchers. Thanks to debcram for the inspiration. Anyway, I do fine during the day--I eat my fruits and veggies and lean protein and 3 meals a day and 2 very small snacks of fruit/veggies or low-fat cottage cheese. BUT. 8 pm rolls around and I become a snack monster. I'm not hungry, I just want TO SNACK. My favorite snack is anything with butter--crackers with butter or popcorn with butter.

I know this is a mind game. Does anyone have any suggestions for telling my mind that my body DOES NOT NEED A SNACK????? Last night I woke up after 3 hours of sleep and was compelled to eat 8 saltines with butter.

Try drinking a HUGE glass of water before bed, and if you wake up for the loo drink another one instead of snacking!!
:clappurple: Yea Paula!!!! I'm glad you've recommitted!

I have and always had a terrible time with the time I get home from work, until dinner. I'm not hungry, but I could eat everything in the house!

Sadly, nothing really helps, except a planned snack and staying busy. That is usually when I will walk the treadmill. For (fairly) satisfying snacks with low points during the horrid time, I eat 94% popcorn (1 point), 5 garlic melba toast circle w/ 1 slice low fat swiss cheese (2 points), a couple dill pickles (0 points), sliced cabbage with salt (honest, you can eat a lot of that 0 points) or some zero point soup.

Those snack monsters are really hard to deal with, so if munch on 0 or low point stuff, both of you win.
Every time I wake up in the middle of the night with hunger pains, I go grab a small glass of milk. It's skim, so not a lot of calories/fat, and the thickness of it coats my tummy so I don't feel hungry anymore.
Maybe cut up a bunch of veggies into bit-sized pieces so you can get the 'crunch' factor in?

I've found making a cup of tea works...it is hot so it takes a long time to drink and keeps me occupied.

Try knitting or something where you have to use your hands so you can't eat anything.

Some people swear by brushing their teeth because they don't want to mess up their nice and clean teeth...
I solved my late night snacking with knitting. I enjoy knitting so much I don't want to stop ro snack.

Unfortunately, at the moment, my knitting time has been replaced with study time and I'm MUCH more likely to munch. I think in the 5 weeks since school has started I have put on 5 lbs
Ive been going with bananas....I know that as fruit goes, they aren't all that healthy, but...they're tummy-filling, and much better for me than the cheese-melted-on- toast that I'd be eating otherwise!
Mmmmmmmmmmmm......

I :hearts:  s

I think they are the perfect food...and Pirate :hearts: :banana:s 2!!!!
