Pictures of kitchen- beginning stages of decorating!

Still needs A LOT of work. Need to change the plates on the shelf to a more vibrant color- haven't really even started decorating yet. Just wanted to show you a couple of pictures- and the great table!

Lori: Love your new plaid wallpaper! The table is great but my favorite are the chairs. Everything looks really cool. I will be looking forward to more pics.
Nice table! :D

Wallpaper and border aren't too shabby either.

Good job!

Thanks! What a deal I got on those chairs. There is an Antique store in Marysville.. a little whole in the wall- and she sells stuff dirt cheap. Some real finds. $75 for the four chairs! The patina is wonderful- and the seats are in perfect condition.

Solid Hickory. Dad said it is the toughest wood he had ever worked with - literally. The pictures in no way do it justice. Can't wait to get it all done. I am waiting on a mantle to be built and curtain fabric now.
WOW, that table is BEAUTIFUL :clappurple: did your Dad turn the legs also

Yes! he turned them. He was ready to have an Amish gentleman in Holmes County do them, and a really neat thing happened. He was talking to someone at a Football game- whose Dad had been a craftsman as well. Well- long story short- this guy had a lathe of his fathers (sp) they were trying to sell. Dad went and looked at it- and the guy insisted he take it- free!
Dad had an oak picnic table he had made for my sister- so he took it to the guy as a Thank you. Now Traci is still waiting for her picnic table!

He does such a good job. It started as a hobby in the winter when he couldn't golf. Now he has a winter home in Florida- golfs all year round- as well as building. He just made cabinet doors for his Florida home. Raised panel cherry. He get all of his wood from Keim lumber in Amish country. He is blessed with talent!
My Dad was also a wonderful cabinet maker and he passed just a small, small amount of his talent along to me :D I have never tried using a lathe but sure admire those that do. My biggest effort was to make 6 roll top trunks and then carve diferent pictures onto them

4 were for my grandsons and here is one of them slightly beat up now and the M is g/son's carving :D

OH WOW!! Thank you for posting that wonderful picture. I would say you got more than a small amount of your Dad's talent. Just beautiful. Did you carve them free hand?
Great table, Lori. I would have guess you purchased it from the Amish. We fell in love with their work when we lived in Indiana. Looks great with your chairs and oak cabinets. Your dad has super talent!!!
You really did a great job. I think it's a nice choice too.

thanks Lori

Yes but with a grid :D I was given a small picture of two horses fighting so I made a grid on it and then on another larger piece of paper I made a larger grid (same no. of squares tho.) and then drew them on to it ,then traced the larger one onto the trunk top and used my Dremel to carve
Your kitchen looks great! :D I LOVE the table :hearts:

I was slightly dubious about the plaid wallpaper when you first mentioned it....but, wow, done as wainscoting its a really nice look! :o :D

I'm looking forward to seeing the mantle, since that's one of our next big projects in our house. We keep looking for an antique one to fit our fireplace, but have had no luck :( ...so I guess we will be figuring out how to make one. :?
Your dad is truly talented. The table is beautiful. I really like the plaid wall paper, too. Works well in this room. I look forward to seeing the finished project.

It's so cute! It reminds me of the interior of La Madeleine, the French restaurant. So cozy and inviting.
