Doggy Daycare

I am hoping for some input on daycare from those of you who bring your dogs.....
How filthy are your dogs when they come home?

I picked up Finney today and he was beyond gross, so much so I used the bath and dryer there. I'm glad he plays there, but I wonder how much he plays or if he gets bullied.

Do your dogs seem stiff after daycare?

The little voice in the back of my head says hip dysplasia, especially since he came from a questionable breeder  I am wondering if any other dogs act lame after a day of play. I am hoping it's just because he is as out of shape as his Mom.

Does your daycare separate the big dogs from the small ones?

Finney was in an area in front with couches, dog cots, etc. when he was little. Now the big dogs are in the back in an area adjacent to the back yard.

As I am sure it's obvious, I love to worry!
Thanks,
Kim

I used to work at a daycare, and bring Wally with me (until he got banned), so I'll add my input.

We did not separate the big and little dogs, but we did separate the dogs that didn't want to play or were really small and would get smooshed. We had some chihuahas and westies that needed to run with the big dogs!

If it had just rained or if there was snow on the ground all the dogs would be filthy. We washed the floors twice a day, but when you have that many dogs in one room there is just no way to prevent it! If it got really bad we would bathe or hose down the dirtiest, but there was not enough time in the day to get 'em all.

I've always been a supporter of daycares- working there I got to see first hand how happy those dogs were to be there playing with their buddies!
I take and leave Duch at a doggy play group once or twice a week for 3 hrs and she loves it, I can barely hold her she is so anxious to get in there. Some of the wee dogs that don't like to play or are nervous are in a seperate area but big and small if they like playing they are together. Other than being covered in slobber some days she isn't to dirty  and she will sleep the afternoon away after she comes home. I'm hoping the interaction with all the other dogs will keep her as friendly as she is now :D
My dogs are pretty gross when they come home from day care and they're absolutely beat and slow moving for the rest of the day, too. I know my dogs are not being bullied and they're still pretty nasty when we get them home.

Our day care does separate the big dogs and small dogs as well as the bullies and the bad players. They have a tiny fenced area for the little guys and older dogs and then there's little "time out" kennels for those who get too rough.
The daycare we took Barney to (until he was banned  ) did separate the big dogs from the little dogs.

Barney, who came from a questionable background too, is always SO tired afterwards and sometimes will sort of limp a little, not a really big limp, but enough for me to notice. It usually goes away in a day or two.

We usually get the people there to give him a bath before he comes home, especially if he's in a longer coat, so we've really only seen him in his full dirtiness once, and that was enough! They offered a deal to play and get a bath, so it was worth it to us.
