Jacob Edbert of Abelard

Ok, Ok, I know that this is a long name but it fits my new pup just perfect. "Jake" came home on September 18th and within the first two days, learned how to go up and down stairs, ring the door chimes on the door to go outside, eat my magazines and....well you know the rest.

He is a joy to have around and has picked up quite a bit from my other dog Mack.

Anyway, his name has alot of meaning and it took alot of research to figure out what his registered name was going to be.

Jacob means supplantar (with power)...he's very strong
Edbert means wealthy and bright
and abelard means highborn and steadfast.

First vet visit was great, the vet and Jake got along very well and Jake thought it all great fun to play there and listen/see other dogs and cats around...curiousity you know!

Next step is puppy training (basic manners) and later, hopefully, Jake and I can be trained for therapy...can't wait and will keep you updated!

Sue, Jake and Mack....the happy trio!

He sounds delightful. Just a warning, little guys shouldn't be doing much with steps, their bodies don't need the extra strain. Limit the stair experiences to absolutely necessary. I remember one Golden Retriever breeder locally who would not sell to homes with many steps.....that's a bit excessive, but idea was probably sound.
For therapy you do want him to know as many people and places as possible, so have time exploring the world with Jake.
I love the name and I am so glad he is settling in so well! I hope the therapy training goes well! That sounds like fun. Is Mack a sheepdog too?
We would love to see pictures too! Please keep us updated and congrats on your new addition.
Stormi and co.
Thanks all!

Mack is a lab/beagle and we are still "discussing" the new member of the family. Of course Jake has decided that 4am is a good time to wake me up to go outside and play.....among other things. So we are talking about that also.

I would love to post some pictures but whenever I try, it tells me that the pictures are too large. Any ideas????
