I read your post and thought, $30?? LOL

Then I remembered that in Europe the decimal is used where Americans would use a comma.

$30,000 ($30k) IS a lot of money!! Goodness!

Oh yeah, that's just "German" writing! Even a bit different to english people aswell! , cause we normaly write: £30.000,-- (!!!!!)
For a really winning dog with even more winning potential, I think that price is on par. If you notice, next time you go to a benched dog show, pay attention to how many cages have padlocks. It isn't only because someone thinks the dog might get loose, it's to keep people from stealing prize dogs. There's a lot of value in a great show dog.
$30,000? Sounds like a puppy mill to anyone else? LOL

I'm glad they chose not to advertise on that other puppy mill site, but nextdaypets? Why would they advertise there???

Sheeesh. Thanks guyz.

I'd take an ad here for that dog -- maybe even help them advertise it, but not if they're going to use sites like those.
why would anyone want to sell their 3 yr old..champion or not????
This sheepie's been on Puppyfind for maybe a couple of months? now...
definitely not the same caliber as others listed

Were you talking about puppyfind? nextdaypets is exactly the same thing, so it's no different. the name itself (get your pet tomorrow) makes it worse to me.

I'll leave the link to that horrid site just for now, so that people can see it for this conversation, but I'll remove it soon.

Someone ought to contact that breeder and tell them if they remove their ads from those types of sites they can be shown here instead.
Oops... sorry.
You can remove it now!
I hope no one actually goes for that dog. The price may be right for a champion, but from what I have heard about the one site in particular, that dog may not even exist. It is probably a huge scam.
It would seem to be a fairly normal price for a top proven show dog. Although I would prefer to see either a UK or USA Ch in that dogs title also to pay anywhere near that sort of money they are asking. They increase in value as they are proven and also for their future potential for the progeny they might produce.

Same with the bitches if you were selling a Ch. proven Bitch the price goes up as well and again for the potential progeny from her also.

It's really sad though, to sell a Ch. off this way on the net. :(

Just does not seem right to advertise over the net that the dog is for sale. :(

It has AKC registration and is in AZ I wonder why no USA Ch. Tittle on the dog as well to be asking that sort of money for him over the net. :lmt:
Yeah, I had written an email to them and I am holding on to it until more members from here can comment.
I read a story about someone buying a dog from some people in Arizona, and the dog was actually in Brazil. I don't remember if they got the dog, or if it wasn't the dog they thought they were getting. I would never buy this way...you need to KNOW who you are dealing with.

Ooooh doo telll

EDIT: I guess you just did!
I don't remember but that ad rang alarm bells. I know that it was a big scam...but I don't remember all the details. I think it is common when buying from South America though...and they always have an address in the U.S.

Sorry I can't remember any details Ron...I read it a while back.
I thought we had a conversation about this particular breeder on Puppyfind before. I don't remember the circumstances.
This just seems wrong to me. Why advertise to sell a proven champion on such irreputable sites?? It definitely has the earmarks of a scam.
Man... those people from South America give us Latinos a bad name.... bleh!
What I cant understand is:

1. If the Sheepie is "really" the world champion why???? do they have to advertise like that, I'm sure they have the important "contacts"!!

2. Why on earth would I want to sell my lovely Sheepie of 3 years anyway? It sounds like "cashing in a dog" for me! Sad though!!!

3. Or it is a scam as many of you think and it's not the real champion!!?? :? 8O
Hopefully, anybody interested in a champion dog and who plans on spending $30k will do lots of research before purchasing. I would hope they would go out to visit the dog and family beforehand!
I can't imagine having a dog for so long and then selling them like they're nothing on that site so nonchalantly.
Ok, I can clear this all up!

The dog advertised is my boy Chicus' father. He has almost every title imagineable, and he won the World Show in Mexico this year. Dollar for dollar, he is worth every penny if you have any idea the expense in achieving those titles, not to mention that he is a young proven sire.

This is also where I purchased Chicus from. Yes, she advertises on Puppyfind, and is aware of how we feel about Puppyfind, but says she does not have the resource of a breed club like we do and thats why she usues sites like Puppyfind. Right or wrong, she is a reputable breeder (actually her and her husband are all breed judges) She does have a contact in Arizona....basically this is someone she knows who you can talk to on the phone if need be since her english is not that great.

I know the Arizona factor is not a scam in her case.
I just want the update of who bought that good-looking dog ;)

Mama needs a brand new wardrobe!!! 8)
Amber, I am very curious why they are selling the dog. Most people that have so much invested in such a star dog like that usually love to live with the bragging rights and also to stud. Who do they expect to buy the dog? Only people that I can imagine, would be some large type of commercial breeder that had that kind of cash and would be interested in all of the titles.

People who show, know that you never get back what you put into a dog, especially one so heavily campaigned. They do it for the love of the breed IMO.
What is that champion dog's name, and his call name?

Also, I'm sending you a PM. :D
Ron, I know you were referring to Amber but fyi, I'm pretty sure that this the show name:
SHERLOCK MOLNMIX SHETLAND OF SUFFOLK / OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG. owners: MYRIAN BORBA / ELANIA CAUDURO

Not sure about the call name.

btw.. We did talk about the AZ kennel once before since they advertise on Puppyfind and it was a little heated discussion.
Amber is right. I have Chicus's son and his grandad has every title imaginable. I am glad this isn't linked to the one Arizona scam that we did discuss a while back...I guess that is where I read about it.

It sure would be awesome to own that guy!

Oh good... now I can continue to ooh and aah over this beautiful dog publicly without fear of ridicule
I've shown him to my husband a couple of times but we're not in the market for a world champion.
We tend to focus on those way at the other end of the spectrum but they're just a worthy of lovin'.

Thanks for the info Amber! He's a gorgeous dog.
Don't they call him Sherlock? It's written over one of the pictures.
Yes, his name is Sherlok.

I know of a few breeders here in Ontario who have exported a dog to other countries to show kennels when new blood is needed. I know they also charge the big bucks as well. I guess its a huge shock to most because usually its not publically advertised as Rosana has advertised Sherlok. Things are done differently here. I myself am exporting a dog to Scotland this week-end. I kept her here since I did not want her to be in quarantine, plus you want to wait and see what they look like when they are mature to make sure you only send the best when you export. I also put her Championship on her. If I did not already have Chicus and I had $30,000 (LOL!!!) I would have loved to bring him to Canada to show and breed. Who will buy him?? Probably someone from another country who has the money to invest in him and who needs a new bloodline.
Thanks for helping us to understand this Amber. It makes sense that new bloodlines are needed from proven champions in different countries.

It is good to know that it is legitimate and not one of the scams. Especially on those sites, you cannot be too careful. Sorry she doesn't have the support and resources of a good club. That's something I wouldn't have thought of. :?
Amber,

How did Chicus do yesterday? We all want to know about the Nationals.
I'm about to download the pictures and will start a new thread. I had a BLAST at the National and met so many new people.....it was great!!
Hello breeders

I am Rosana Knapp. My english not is good. I live in Brazil. This ad not is of the scam.
I insert my ads in puppyfind and next pet and day because I dont know others local to insert my ads in USA.
I am sell this OES to breeders that send he to showdogs in the World. He have bloodline LamedaZottel.
I saw that they had spoken that puppyfind and next pet and day is to puppymills. A puppymills never pay U$D30,000 for a OES or other dog. This price is just to a OES that is Junior World Champion 2005, Wold Champion 2007, number one in ranking in a Country. He is Argentine Champion, Brazilian Champion, International Champion, Uruguay Champion I pay very millions dollar in a ranking in my country and others countries.
Puppymills are persons that sell your puppies for $ 500 OR 600 DOLLAR.
Thanks

Hi Rosana,

I have his grandson from Amber...he must be a lovely dog. I hope he goes somewhere wonderful.
Welcome Rosana...
I've admired your handsome Old English Sheepdog for some time now :D
He's gorgeous!
Thank you Amber for answer about Sherlock.
I understand the concern of the peoples in ads in website that has puppymills. but all websites that I saw in internet has puppymills.
In general I sell my dogs to Asian. In Asia the person not can acess websites of the USA. But the breeders in Asian need good bloodlines.
Also I like sell my dogs to USA, Canada and Asia because the breeders take care more the dogs.

Thank you for joining us Rosanna! You do indeed have a very handsome boy.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for coming here to talk about this!!! I am very happy and honored to have a breeder of such a champion dog as part of our community.

Rosana, I feel those types of sites really cater to BYB and puppy millers, and they seem to be a part of the problem we have in the USA.

I personally feel that your ads on those sites diminish your own reputation while giving your good name as an endorsement to the bad sites.

If you remove your ads from puppyfind and nextdaypets, I will put an ad for Sherlock on this page:

http://www.oes.org/html/get_a_sheepdog.html

In the last 24 days that page has received 1667 visitors (plus 46 since midnight today). I will leave that ad there for at least 1 month, if Sherlok is still for sale then we can talk about what to do next.

Does that sound like a good idea to you? Do we have a deal?
Welcome Rosana and thankyou to you and amber for clearing that up, one always wonders when web sites like that are used.

Best wishes with your Handsome boy. :D
Hi, Rosana.

Nice to have you join us!

Just a note to express that the kind of people you want to see your boy go to will not be perusing PuppyFind.....

Ron has made a great offer! That and word of mouth would be the way to go!
Rosana, thank you for coming on and clarifying your classified ad. I hope that you find your buyer and that he will be in a good place.
Thank you breeders and owners of OES.
Ron Thank you for you help.
I am traveling now and am back in my house in monday.
I will go talk with you about this and about puppyfind.

A hugs
