I think I hurt my moms feelings

Well usually I am the type of person if you have nothing nice to say say nothing. My brother is in town visiting and WAS going to come over to my house to see the new pup Blue. Sami (year 1) gets very bouncy for 5 minutes and wants to see everyone, well last time my brother pushed her and she went flying across the floor, of course I said nothing, daughter and hub mad. If I knew they were coming over I would have had her outside first plus my mom brings her dogs and 1 of them does not like Sami at all. So this time I did say something, that if they were to come over that my brother is not to push her off that hard. Turn on her like everyone else, say no. Let me know you are coming etc. I know Sami is a pest at first and is getting better with age but she thinks their here for her. So in the end they are not coming over. My brother is in his 40's single, no kids, no animals, and not a people person so I know it is hard for him because he comes over a wham he gets it all. We go visit over there when he comes and he goes into another room for the evening  I said something about that too. Birthday dinner for him tomorrow I wonder if he will eat the cake in his room or the dinning room :) And for me to take the pup over there is another story.

Ah well, familes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What can you do!!!
Ain't it the truth??
Good for you for sticking up for your pup, and your household rules! :clappurple: I'm sorry your Mom was upset, but nothing you asked was unreasonable.

Ditto, I agree!
Sounds like you did the right thing!
Got to love the family dynamics...
you all made me feel better about this thank you :D
Families drive me mad, but if you are in my house, its my rules, my dogs live here, you don't like it, too bad. I would so say something if anyone pushed my dogs. So good for you. I never understand why people don't say anything if someone has upset them, there's always a nice way to say things - want me to come over lol
I know what you are feeling.

Me and my husband have always been an animal lover and my brother and his wife are not....
But when he comes to my house, he has never touched my dogs. Like you, I always put them in the bedroom when they visit, but if it is an all day affair, there are times when they just have to go out. When they do, they always greet all the company before running out--- my brother, pets them and talks to them (mostly for my benefit   ). Then, most of the time, they become part of the party since they are so well behaved, they just sit on their tuffet and watch all the activities (of course that was B.H (before Heart :hearts: )........ Families...........

I think you did the right thing. Don't feel bad. I'm sure your mom understands especially if she has dogs.
You did the right thing. What's that old saying? You can pick your friends but you can't pick your relatives. If we could, 90% of my family wouldn't be related to me!!
Again thank you after I posted I thought hmmmm maybe should not have done that. Glad I did. :D
Just because you share a strand of DNA, doesn't mean you have to like your family all the time.
I think you did the right thing although it doesn't take away the frustration one feels with family members. Besides they are your FurKIDS and they're part of you. :O)

Don't feel guilty. Your brother is the one with the social issues. It's your house, your dogs, you have to protect them.

Yeah, I love my family......especially when we are separated by 450 miles.
