throwing up

I feed Brutus (5months) the same brand as the breeder. Lately he has been throwing up after his feeding in the morning, if I'm not quick enough, he will eat it (yuck). He doesn't vomit after eating at supper, he only does it in the am. I wonder if he's doing this because he drank some water right after? This morning I waited to give him his water but he went straight to the toilet to drink and still vomited. Should I be worried here or is this a passing stage? His poop is normal he urinates ok too. Has this happened to your puppies too?

is he eating to fast?
No, I had a Golden that would gobble it down. Brutus like to eat at a slow pace.
Is it possible he's getting too much food and is simply overloading his stomach? If it continues you might try dividing his daily kibble ration into 3 meals (assuming he's getting 2 feedings). I'd also talk to the vet to make sure nothing important isn't missed.

Also, keep the lid closed on the toilet
Sadie throws-up her food if she drinks water right after eating. I make her wait 30 minutes and she is fine with that.
Make sure no water access at all for a little while after eating, that is causing him to chuck..

Also it is a good routine to get into after eating, exercising etc OES are high on the list of breeds that can bloat. Here is a link to read on preventative measures to take to not cause this life threatening problem.

If he continues to bring up food in the am feed, cut that amount you are giving him in the morning and make it up with another around lunchtime so he is on 3 meals a day then. Don't cut his amount for the whole day as he is a growing pup and needs the required levels of nutrition for growth.

At 5 months old, mine were always still on 3 meals a day till well over 6 months then an am and pm feed
My puppy used to throw up his food ocassionally and then eat it if i wasn't quick enough as well 8O Yes, it grosses us out but apparently its common. My vet explained that sometimes it is not "vomitting" but regurgitating" and they eat it because it is undisgeted food, not bile.

I would go with the others advice and feed in three smaller meals. Also too much water too fast will cause them to vomit. I take my dog's water up about ten minutes before he eats until about 15 or 20 minutes after. And then I give him about a glass full - wait a few minutes and give him more. Not an entire bowl at once.
You guys are so helpfull !!!!! I think it is the water... this morning he drank the water as soon as I got up, so I waited 30 min for his food and no chucking ! woohoo ! The feeding 3x a day is not possible but I will continue to seperate the water and his food.
Thank you again I love this forum !!! hugs
