Is this bad behavior or good?

Edgar has this thing that he does with his toys. He usually does it when he is in a frisky mood. He takes the toy he is playing with and if you are standing up he will start chewing it against your leg. If you are sitting down he will start trying to chew it in your lap while he is stands next to you.

I think of it as just a "I want to play" sort of thing. But my husband was wondering if it was more like bad behavior or dominate sort of thing. So any ideas out there on this?

No answer, but I'm curious too....since this is a habit Eggbert has as well. It strikes me as an affectionate thing...kinda "I want to chew my toy, but be close to you at the same time"...but I could be wrong :? He not only does it to us...but to our girl-sheepie, Abby as well  She always seems as perplexed by it as us!
I always took it as "Check out this awesomely sweet toy that I have and you don't. I'll bet you want it , don't ya? Don't ya?" Definitely just a taunt!

  yup...that sounds like Bert!
I agree :D
Maybe its a sheepie thing? Mine does it too...toys and bones get plopped in my lap and then sort of lies down next to me or sits next to me and chews it while its in my lap...I think it goes to their super pack traits and how they love to be around people!

I just have a toy-leg bumper, no lap chewers, and in her it means "play with dammit"!

Ooops, that would be play with ME, of course.

She's very persistent.

Same here. George likes to brace his toy against me and chew. Not a big deal until his teeth miss and he scrapes those bottom teeth against my leg 8O ouchie! I get slobber covered toys rubbed against various body parts all day long. And they are always NICE and JUICY! Good thing we love our dogs..........
Sammy does this too! He puts a toy in my lap or on my legs.
Pirate takes his "dolly", pushes it against me, then humps the air.

Oh...he's one disturbed puppy  !
Debcram - LOL!

Bailey does exactly the same thing, it's his preferred method for greeting guests. "Check out this toy - I won't give it to you, but I'll share some of the slobber"
Walter does this a lot, and while sometimes I think he is just being goofy and playful, there are times when I am certain he is being dominant. It comes off as "you are going to play with this toy with me whether you like it or not!" You can usually tell the difference because with the latter dominant behavior he shoves it in your face and lap, doesnt give a crap if hes chewing the toy or your leg, and if you try to move his head he sometimes gives a little growl.

I agree!!!!
I'm glad that this doesn't seem to be a bad behavior. I really didn't think that it was but now I can tell my husband to stop worrying about it. 8)
