I need a safe product to slick hair back between the eyes

Since Clyde was little, I've always trimmed between his eyes but, as has been mentioned before, once you start, you have to do it for life. Well, it seems silly not to grow it out to get into his topknot so that's what we're doing. However, you all know what the growing hair looks like. It fans out right in front of the eyes and, with Clyde's other long hair, he's rendered nearly completely blind. He's got about an inch to go until I can secure it back with a small barrette just to keep out of his eyes and let it keep growing to match the rest.

So, finally my question, since it's so close to his eyes, I didn't want to use human hair gel or any other product with chemicals and fragrances that could irritate his eyes. I thought about a little sugar and water and James seemed to think that it could breed bacteria that could get into his eyes. So, I'm at a loss. What would be safe to use as a hair glue for about a month until we can clip it back the old fashioned way? Clyde thanks you in advance.

St. Bernard slobber?
I read the title and thought, hmmmmmmmmm I didn't know Jill had hair between her eyes

Did you check Chris Christiensen web site? I almost think they have a dog gel, I knoe I've seen it somewhere because it is often used to keep a Maltese top knot in place.

   for my yorkie I lick my fingers and slick it down with that. Is that like St Bernard slobber? our last oes used to have short hair and then we used to clip it back with a slide she liked that as little girls used to admire it. She was a bit vain.

this is Katy with her hair clipped back. She looks a bit forlorn..cant remember why!
CHRIS CHRISTENSEN has a hair gel to hold those bangs back

Few other hair gel brands for dogs too even a hairspray for the pooches, is that too girly for Clyde.?

You can just dip a metal comb into the gel, comb it though the area you want to train to behave.
hhmmm, wonder if paste made from flour and water would work? or maybe cornstarch and water? or all three? i don't know if it would work, buts its the first thing i thought of :D
LeAnne did a 3-pony thing with Clays hair while growing it out - I believe it was Nita's suggestion while we were in St Louis. (See, you should have come to Sheepiepalooza!) Let me see if I can find the picture....... yep - I found it!
Here it is:

It really did work well. :D
Lisa, do you have one you recommend? I'm just concerned about anything too close to his eyes so I want to be sure it's gentle.

I'm assuming something like this would do? TopKnot Gel

That'll be next but we need just a liiiiiittttttle more hair. We have no shame about many ponytails on Clyde!
I like the E-Z groom products, all natural and nothing harsh in it to upset the eyes if you happen to get any of the product in his eye balls. 8)

Here is a link for 3 products that will help at this stage with clyde, you can spray him, moose him or gel him. Which ever is easiest to bang those bangs down. (The gel would probably be the best & easiest for you to apply, sort of like an old mans comb over  It will help under those eyes at the top of the muzzle where it is just a wee bit short too and fans up in front of the eyes, makes the buggars stay down then. )

Just don't look at the price on this link it is imported stuff here. 8O Way cheaper over there. But just to show you the 3 different options there.

Click "Sprays and preparations" on this link and click on E-Z groom and it will bring them up
I'm so glad this was posted. I am having the same problem. Just brushed and put little pony tails above his eyes and wondered how to keep the middle out. I think this will work.
Thanks for the suggestions. I would up ordering the #1 All Systems topknot gel because it was more readily available and from a reputable dealer plus I bought a few other things that I'd been needing but putting off so I did it all in one fell swoop. I'll report back how it works!
Dippitty-Do is cheaper.

I wouldn't want that garbage leaking into his eyes. There's so much alcohol in that junk and it would be too close to a fragile area.
