Hi from Shaggys Mom Jen!

Actually, Shaggy has two mommies, myself, Jen, and my partner of almost 4 years, Erica. We just bought our first home together, and decided an OES would be the perfect addition. We also have a Siamese who is 7 years old who Shaggy is trying REALLY hard to be friends with, but Noah is PETRIFIED of him. Oh.. the name Shaggy.. I know.. cliche'.. I wanted to change it to "Moses", but all my friends, after meeting him, decided Shaggy was best. So I call him Mo and refer to him to others as Shaggy! :)
This is my first week with him, and in order to control behaviors, per the advice of a training specialist, I'm keeping him by my side 24/7. Today we're having a really good day!
It's ironic to me how everyone "warns" of all the time it takes to brush and groom an OES. The first day we got him, we took him to Petsmart for the FULL treatment, so he was brushed there. Last night I did my first brushing with him, and now I feel like I want to brush him every day. It's so relaxing for the both of us. Really good bonding time!
I'll be posting pictures as soon as I can get this camera developed we bought to take pictures of the house buying proceedings. Our digital cam is on the fritz.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes already! :)

I really like the name Moses....and "Mo" is a cute nickname

I know what you mean about the brushing. We shave ours down for summer, and I'm looking forward to winter when I spend more time on grooming. It IS relaxing, as well as a great bonding time with your dog!
WELCOME!
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I look forward to posting pics and fun antics! Erica's not much of an internet junkie, so she probably won't be chiming in, but hello and thanks for the welcome from ALL of us!
Welcome to the pack!

I PROMISE there will be pics soon! Right now I'm just trying to recouperate from the move. I've snapped a few, we just need to get them developed, and my partner is working her tail off at her job, and trying to get our old apartment cleared out. Cross my heart and hope to fly.. you'll get pics! ;)

Has anyone suggested pics?

I'll have to snap a pic of Shaggy and his OTHER mom.. this one's not very camera friendly. I think the camera adds 70 pounds. haha
I'll work on it.. I promise! Today is just a really busy work day.. the joys of having a work from home job! :)
Welcome to the forum. :D

Tell us more about Shaggy. How old is he? Did you adopt him from a rescue? :)
He is 6 months old. I bought him from a lady who posted an ad on Craigslist ironically RIGHT as I was SCOURING the internet to find an OES. She bought him as a new pup from a breeder, and then discovered her daughter was allergic (things you should probably look into before spending that much money on a dog). So he was outside ALL summer. :(
She's begging that if things don't work out I give him back to her and not to someone else. Like heck! He's never going to be an outside dog again! I've done my homework! OES's hate that!
That's about it! :)
