Please Lord! Someone save me!

I am having such an issue with getting Lily to go pee outside. So here's the deal:

I let her out in the mornings, to run in the backyard do what she needs to do & then right before I leave the house I walk her out front to make sure that she gets it all out. When we are done, I take her inside, tell her to go to her room, which she does willingly then she decides at somepoint during the day to pee all over her crate. EVERYDAY, same routine, same thing to come home to!

She used to never potty in the house while we were home, only in the crate during the day. We let her out to roam the house while we are home and it has been that way from get go however, over the last two nights she has decided to forget everything she knows and is now peeing in my room at night

I don't know what to do with her. I love her but I am fed up. I have more things to do with my evenings than to wash down a 6 month old pup everynight, especially when she knows better.

Also, I have taken her to the Vets numerouse times to check things out & to make sure that there isn't a medical issue & she checks out just fine everytime. Aside from seperation issues (which is what I am trying to remind myself of) I don't know what else to chalk it up to. Why is she peeing on the carpert again?

I feel so hopeless today

Sorry you are having a problem with wetting in her crate and on the carpet...

I am sure you will get a lot of suggestions from every one here.

Are you cleaning the areas with an odor killer?? Maybe she is smelling her pee in her crate and on the rug..They will go where they have gone before if all the odor is not removed completely.

You may want to limit her water when you know she will be in her crate or at night. I give Heart ( 3months) water in the morning and make sure she wets...when she goes into her crate, I do not put any water in---I do come home every 4 hours during the day since I work.

I pick up her water at about 8 in the evening so she will stay dry at night. She gets up at about 4-5 in the morning.

I think there are times in the puppies development when they have to relearn certain things...One of my dogs was taught when she was young not to jump on people...when she was about 9 months old...all of a sudden she began to jump on everyone that walked in the door   ...we had to go back to the basics and reteach her....

good luck
I'm confused, is she in the crate and peeing inside of it, or is she confined to a room and peeing on the crate?

If she's in the crate, I'd start over with training and make the crate smaller-- just enough room for her to turn around and lie down. The more real estate she has, the more likely it is that she'll go pee in the corner and it'll inevitably end up on her at some point. She may be less likely to pee right where she's laying. They say that dogs don't like to pee where they live but Clyde loved to lay in his own pee.

We suffered with similar issues as you're having with Lily with Clyde until he was about 6 months old, too. I thought he'd never be trained despite all of our efforts and then, one day, it just clicked. I can't say we started doing anything different, I guess it was just his time. We were always consistent, always positive, cleaned appropriately with enzyme cleaners after he peed and it just didn't take. I think sometimes they just wind up figuring it out on their own.
I would also recommend a quick check with the Vet to see if she has a urinary tract infection. Sometimes there is a medical reason for sudden changes in peeing behavior.
I'm sorry if it is all confusing. Lhe is in the crate during the day or when we are away. (Because she loves to chew) She is free to roam the house when we are home.

After I wash her out, I wash the crate & the surrounding carpet EVERYDAY. I even steam my carpets every weekend (I know I'm crazy) w/ products formulated to cut out all odors & distract her from going in the same spot. I don't do this just because of Lily, I have animals & kids tracking in who knows what & I have "issues"

She's allowed to roam free when we are there because she normally tells me when she needs to go out. She peed twice last night on the carpet in our room even after I had her out before bed & once around 4ish this morning. She was at the vet last weekend & all was well with her........
...and her crate is actually the perfect size for her anything smaller would be kinda mean & she does not have access to water until I get home so her drinking in her cage & then peeing isn't the issue.

I think she's just insane!
Goodness, it sounds like I have a lot to look foward to!

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. :(

When you find out what works, will you please let me know? Also, maybe you could lay down a big sheet of plastic underneath the crate so it doesn't get on the carpet? Also, maybe she should sleep in the crate at night so she doesn't go anywhere else? How long is she in her crate during the day?
No worries Stephanie! Benjamin wasn't anything like Lily, he has a breeze. So, I'll just pray taht your pup is like him. But one I figure her out, I'll let you know.
Pretty much you can never get the scent out of the carpet no matter the product you use or the amount of shampooing. You can decrease it, but never totally get rid of it as far as the dog's noses are concerned. I read countless articles...many of the products lead you to believe theirs is the "miracle product," but it just doesn't exist.

I would restart with the training. Have you been to a puppy trainer yet? Get some new advice from a professional. 6 months is still very young to me, so I'd not give up hope yet. I know I felt the same when my OES had multiple accidents everyday when 3 months old or so and I felt all I ever did was shampoo the carpet and fend off Jasper ripping at my pajama bottoms at night. Luckily we moved to a house with all wood and tile in the downstairs so that's where he lives now outside of some floor rugs. I think it made a difference. My mom has had issues with her oes going on the carpet - and she gets new carpet even, the urine can soak all the way into the wood/cement and the smell remains. Dogs sense of smell is so much more keen than ours and they smell in "layers" rather than all at once. So if you cover the smell with something - they still can find that spot. Good luck...and don't give up on Lily!
Not that it helps but my two "regressed" around 6 months it lasted only a few weeks and they were back on with their housebreaking.
take her back to puppy basics meaning take her out more often, may need a neighbor to help you with it so when ur at work or away they can swing by and take her out, try to stick to a schedule with your OES food same time, potty same time, etc.. also try the bell method ( this is all that is working for mine) she is only 6mths so be patient keep working on it, mine is 8mths and were STILL ON IT!!!! so it can click at any age, I have a friend have a OES took till the age of 2. So I mean heck there are all sorts of learning curves here.
Ok, when we got Maisey, it was a 10 hour drive, with my two two year olds. When we got near the breeders we stopped at Walmart, and bought a crate that we thought she would grow into.
It is huge. We had to take one of the seats in the van to fit it in. I then proceeded to purchase a large laundry basket.
I put the laundry basket in the back of the crate, and covered it all with a blanket.
It may seem cruel to limit her space, but, if she has a smaller area, she is less likely to mess.
We still use the original crate, without the basket.
Just a suggestion...
Sounds to me like she's put two and two together and realizes that if she pees in the cage that she gets lots of special attention (the bath).

It might also help if you only take her out back instead of walking her out front before you leave. That would help show her that there's only "one" area she's allowed to potty in. Instead of her thinking she can go out back, out front, so why not in between.........

Good luck.
sorry you are having this trouble you seem to me as if you are doing everything. Good luck I am sure she will get it right soon.
