New Refridge

When I moved into my townhome 8 years ago, it had a very small side by side fridge. I have, in no uncertain terms, HATED IT FROM DAY 1!!!!!!!!!!

I can never find anything, because its narrow and deep. Oh, did I mention, I'VE HATED IT FROM DAY 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?

About 2 years ago, we had to buy a small freezer for the garage, because nothing fits in its freezer side. Oh, did I mention, I'VE HATED IT FROM DAY 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?

A couple months ago, it sprang an internal leak in the freezer section. Water pools at the bottom and freezes there, so we have to chizel it out so we can shut the door. Did I mention.....well, you know by now.

My darling husband said it was time for it to sleep with the fishes!!! :)

I thought we'd get a nice size freezer on top fridge, about 22 cubic whatevers. Well, we got a gorgeous Amana 25 cubic thingie, french door, freezer on the bottom fridge!!!! Its HUGE! Tony had to cut down the cabinet above so it would fit.

It just got delivered and he called. Ah hem.....the opening was 1/2 inch to small at the baseboard, so he ended up cutting that too.

He said, "It's a monster!"....and I can't wait to see it!

Oh, did I mention, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ?

Funny you posted this - I was just looking for
a fridge online before I popped in here.
Nice that you were able to get a big one!
Mine has to go into a built in space too. With
all the other stuff I am cutting out for new
range and dishwasher I just don't want to bother
with cutting out for the fridge. Think Tony'd like
to come do mine too??

Can't wait to hear how you like it. I envy your
french doors. I think I'm going with the 21 sqft regular
old top freezer.

Shellie
I would kill (preferably my ex-husband) for a bottom mount freezer. You lucky girl--now go food shopping to fill that thing up!
I agree... so lucky!!! I tried getting one but my mom gave me a gift card for a place that didn't carry one, so I got screwed. Enjoy!!

I expected this thread to be made by OES Mommy. <snickers> :P
Congrats! That fridge sounds so nice! We just got a new one too.

We looked at a million of them and while I like the look of the ones with the freezer drawer on bottom, I think I would lose everything in there. I like the side by side so I can see most of what's in there.
I can't wait to see it! I really didn't expect to get such a good one. We are hoping to move in a year or so. I thought we'd end up with just a regular fridge...which in comparision to what we had, would have been heaven!

One of the most exciting features, is a pull shelf that is large enough to hold a platter. Very cool.

I'm one lucky chick...not cuz of the fridge, but because of my darling husband  !
ooooh, I'm so Greenwith envy!

I love the French door models and the roll out bottoms. About 20 years ago Whirpool brought out a French door model but quickly pulled it off the market. A friend was in the appliance business and said there was one left in town..........I was too late  My big Whirpool is a wonderful conventional, but both of us are getting to where we hate bending over to get into the frig.

Enjoy your big box! Think of the big turkey you can put in there, deli platters and you won't have to turn sideways to reach the back, it will all be at your fingertips!!
Deb, you can always take the fridge with you...it doesn't have to convey!
That's what I was thinking, too, Steph. If I just bought that fridge, no way would I be leaving it with the house when I moved.

I just bought a Maytag wide-by-side last year and I love it. If I move any time soon, it's going with me. :D
Ok...wait til you hear this!

I got home and there it stood in its glory. Ahhhhhhhhh....... (Remember Tony was here for the delivery).

I opened it up, and in the center, on the middle shelf was a lovely flower arrangement!!!!

The fridge is so cool..no pun intended. I put back all of the food we had in the old one (hate it still!) and it's barely 1/2 full!!!!!

I took pictures, which I'll try and get posted this weekend.

I have to think of a lovely name for it (I name EVERYTHING! I'm the one who has Samantha, the Solara!). Maybe it will be Snow White!

Y'all need to come over for dinner now!
Aweee... how sweet!! What a great guy!

And you need to fill that new thing up!! I can't handle half empty freezer or refrigerators!
Enjoy it in good health!!!
We too just got a new refrig. Not real happy but we had just such a small place to put it in and no room to cut into. So we got a AMANA bottom freezer ( just love the bottom freezer) it it texured black and 31 inches wide. I fill it up to the max always. If we move I want a 25 cube or larger french door/bottom freezer and I want Ice on the door. We only have a Ice maker now in freezer.

May I add we also got a new stove. I had double wall oven that stopped working. It was only 24 iches wide and a cookie sheet would not fit .I called Magic cheif parts and they said noway it was over 28 yrs old. So we took our island cooktop out (also not working right) took the cabinet out and got a profile GE dual fual slide in range with convection. I LOVE IT!!! it is so nice to cook with gas and oven is electric., Not to mention New washer and dryer GE profile front loader, on stands ( NO BENDING) my old washer would have to go 3 spins to even get the clothes dry enough to dry. and dryer was on its last legs too. They were 15 yrs old.
Dual fuel, sounds like what I need. I too have an overly small wall oven and a cook top. Sounds like our appliances were the same age, now your's are all brand new!!
I have the Amana freezer on the bottom - just regular door. I do love it though!!
We've had it a year, and I still am not over the lov'in it stage! :D
This morning, as soon as I woke up, I ran downstairs to see "Snow White". There she stood in all her glory.

Saturday, I'll do a BIG grocery shopping and get big stuff that didn't fit in the old fridge.

Its so light and bright inside the new one.

My dishwasher and stove are also about 10 years olds and not particularly fancy, but they work just fine. So, there they will stay.

Years ago I had the double oven wall stove. I really loved that. They stopped making them, cuz they started putting microwaves on top instead. Now, Maytag (I think) just came out with a double oven stove called the Gemini. Its very cool. Both ovens are on the bottom. That is next appliance I will lust after!!!!
Yeah! There's nothing like brand new appliances that haven't had a chance to get dirty or broken yet!

We have a WONDERFUL new double wall oven. They wanted (the builder) to put in the microwave on top and only have one oven, but no way. WE wanted 2 ovens!

May I recommend an excellent frozen pizza or two? ;)
Lol I can't believe how big everything is over there, it must be like land of the giants in your houses. Or like being Gulliver when you come over here
What time is dinner?????

I like brisket.

I heart Tony too, for making you so happy!!!!!

Funny you should mention brisket. I will be cooking for the Jewish Holidays this weekend, and yep...brisket is on the menu!

I know, its crazy! I've never had such a big fridge! I feel like a child when I'm looking into it.
Ooh I just had a vision of you getting to the back of it and finding Narnia

Too many childrens stories before bed again
Even I, the King of Big, felt my washer/dryer were very big. At first.

Lately I've been thinking that they should be larger; the washer to handle huge loads of sheets and the dryer because I think the larger they are the more efficient they are with bigger loads. No proof for that, just thinking.

So I was imagining that they could be deeper front to back...
Congratulations! I bet it's more energy efficient too. I really love the looks of the french style.
