I am giving you her E-Mails for you to read. hope they copie.

Subject: Gracie's report

Today Gracie's vet received the blood test for Myasthenia Gravis from UC Davis. It was negative. Cornell also called with the gross necropsy exam and "nothing was unusual on the exam. Further muscle and tissue exams will be done over the next two weeks". I am relieved but saddened that we have no reason for her early and frightening death. I still can not think of her without crying and wondering why this happened. Wanted to share this news with you.

Subject: Necropsy prelimanry results

I received a call from Gracie's owner this AM. Cornell's findings were "an acute viral attack of her neuromuscular system". Many illnesses were ruled out. Tests are now being done on her spinal fluid and areas around that issue. They asked if she had been around any sick animals including horses. She had not. No other animals in her neighborhood were ill. Kathy and Frank had contacted everyone along her street. I am so saddened that this is what was found. If this is meningitis or encephalitis how the heck would this virus penetrate her body? I won't rest or feel satisfied until I know how this beautiful young girl could have contacted a "virus". More to follow when I get the final written report. At least another week is needed for the CSF analysis.

Madeline

So now still awaiting other tests. This is so sad.

 Poor Gracie, Madeline and Gracie's family.
What an awful thing to happen.
This is SO sad. Our son recently lost a male Pug pup about 6 months old to acute encephalitis (sp?), supposedly unique to Pug's. Still didn't help the hurt knowing that. We all feel your hurt.
Since Feries death she has taken all the sibs and am watching. Now this>>>>>>>She will be keeping up on all pups who are now 28 months olds. She has NEVER had anythingg like this in 30 yrs of breeding. I fell very bad for her. Our loss og Fergie has NEVER left me.
Oh My, I am so sorry to hear this. I dealt with madeline when looking for a puppy and she is one wonderful breeder and person. In fact, her dogs are spectacular, invited to westminister and even Crufts. I'm sure she will do whatever is necessary to find out what happened.

I received an emal this week from my breeder. Apparently an entire litter of puppies were lost and in the autopsy, it came back they had afloxin poisoning. The breeder took what was left of her canned food and it also tested positive for afloxin. It was Iams canned and Iams was notified late last week. Was Madeline feeding Iams canned?

Madeline has dogs that live to be 15 plus. I think she had one that lived to be almost 18...I am so sorry to hear this. Poor babies...and poor parents.
Good Lord. :(
NO, Madeline always feeds Pro Plan and no canned. She has used Pro Plan on ALL her dogs and I use it too!
I had recently seen some info about Pro Plan and deaths and birth defects. I don't know how it could be only breed specific. :?
Last Winter my SIL lost quite a few litters and she feeds Eukanuba. I don't think we are getting the full story on the extent of the food problems

You know this does make you wonder. My mom had always had snauzers and spoils them rotton everything from 3 walks a day, good food(so you think) shots you name she does it, she has lost all her dogs between 5 and 7 years and always had 2 at a time, they pass away due to things that they really were to young for and they never came from the same breeder. Only once did we track down that two of the dogs were related. Since this food scare she does have these 2 dogs on dog food that has alot of natural foods and made here in Alberta, so we will see if there is a difference, it will be a shame that people have lost pets due to food that we all thought and should have been safe.
Oh, how sad. My heart goes out to Gracie's owners and Madeline. I can only imagine how Madeline must be beside herself.
