allergies, staff infection, and house full of problems!

Yesterday was such a long day (for a cranky ol pg lady).

The whole house is always sick it seems. I took lil J to the hospital to try to get him an appt b/c he keeps covering his eyes as if something is wrong. They can't schedule him until Oct! I hope he's not in pain (he's not crying).

At 10 a.m., I had 3 back to back appts for my animals. Not really by choice. Started out with 1, and then another, and then another had something wrong.

1st my cat: Simply scratched her cornea. Was always told to bring them in when they don't open their eyes and it's watery/crusty b/c you never know how damaged it is (can cause tbem to be blind). So, no biggie. She was in and out.

Then there's Yuki: While the appt was originally for my maltese, I brought Yuki in because I had been waking up every morning with blood at the end of my bed. I knew Yuki was going at her paws and butt, but whenever I saw it, I'd put anti-bacteria spray on it and wipe it down with maleseb pads. Then cover her with socks. Well, covering her feet meant she would go at her face until that bled. Oh my! So off to the vet. Apparently while cleaning her paws, i never really inspected them. Very gross yeast infection, and the vet said her vulva was double in size from biting it :( She got anti-bacteria pills, antibiotics, cream for her vulva, and a steroid shot. I was hesitant about the steroid shot b/c she said long-term is detrimental to dogs, and she never recommends it b/c it's just a band-aid to the problem, but it was so bad, she said she highly advises me to get it. Plus, one time won't hurt her. We also ordered more clemastine (anti-inflammatory medicine that doesn't make them drowsy like benadryl).

Lastly, there's my maltese: well, back in july she got groomed and her vulva was cut up so bad, she could not stand up. That was treated in early aug, and I said nothing about her scratching her face a lot (no signs of a prob). Well, later I looked into her skin around her face, and it was a horrible rash (looked like a clipper burn from when she got groomed). :( I thought it would go away since after all, it's just a rash. It just got worse and worse, but I never noticed until she started to bleed for a few days. Guess she got a bad staff infection. I felt horrible because she yelped and yelped until I could get her to the vet. she's on antibiotics and the vet felt it was necessary for her to get a steroid shot too to prevent itching.

Well, the 2.5 hrs I'm there in a room w/no AC and the size of a guest bathroom .......I've got lil J there. Oh my gosh, I thought I was going to lose it (from sweating and a toddler who had a nap time that already passed). For those who have had a toddler approaching two, you know how restless they can get.

We both came home for a nap!!! (after the plethora of drugs I had to give the zoo)

The vet bill sucked.

Don't curse me! If this one isn't a girl, Mr. J wants to have 1 more. If that 1 turned into 2, I will have to be heavily medicated to deal with everyone. 8)
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a WRETCHED DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to hire yourself a babysitter and take a SPA DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:ghug:
I'm hoping the spa thing is a christmas gift! I would love one! :)

I also plan on never going to that groomer again!!!!!!!!!!
so sorry to hear you are having a bad time of it.. i feel your apin all 3 of mind are sick .. vet bill ??? i just got back and they told me my derby needs surgery on both his elbows 2500.00 will trade you lol
Jo,
Sorry about your horrible day. My bichon had her vulva cut by a groomer once, and it required several trips to the vet and several medications. I contacted the owner of the grooming place, and they agreed to pay for the care. Maybe you couldl do that (if you haven't already). Otherwise, you could always document everything (pictures and copies of all vet care, medications, etc...), and go through civil court. You'd probably be reimbursed for everything, and maybe even get a little extra (for your time and effort).
Oh my, that is really a stinky day :( Hope everyone feels better soon!
Wow... I hate being locked in the vet's exam room. Now I just open the door to get a breeze.
Yikes! What an awful day! You must have the patience of Job, because I definitely would have lost it!!

Hope the puppers are feeling better soon!
J, seems like a truly rotton day. Hope the pooches feel better soon. Bet that nap felt GOOD!
Oh, I totally missed the part about lil J - sorry.

That is sad you can get your pets all seen and treated, but have to wait until OCTOBER to see a child! I hope he is OK.
Geewhiz! When it rains, it pours, huh? Bless your heart, that was a tough day. :ghug:

I hope they all get better quickly and you can get some rest. :plead:
Sucks. Sounds like you'll be spending a lot of time with the vulvas and ointment. Yuck.
Oh my gosh, Joah, what an awful day! :( Poor lil J, poor dogs, poor you!

I was going to PM you today to see if you were going out to the fair this weekend, but , I'd guess "Not"
Poor J!
What a horrible day! I hope everyone including Lil J is feeling better very soon.
