Burying bones in the house

I am not sure if this should go under Antics or Behavior but Bella tries to bury her “Milkbones” in the house. If she does not eat them right then she will take hem somewhere and “bury” them. There is one buried by the TV there is one buried under the center post of the kitchen table and last night we watched her try to bury one in the carpet on the stairs. The general actions are always the same she scratches around the area and then noses the bone onto the corner, scratches some more and noses some more. This went on for 5 to 10 minutes last night. She would stop occasionally and examine her work then she would pick up the bone move it a little and start the process all over again. At other times she will lay down and eat the bones so I know that she likes them. We’ve allowed the one under the table to stay just to see what she’ll do with it. She check on it in the morning when we are having breakfast, mouths it a bit and then shoves it back. At times Bella is just a strange dog.

So I was wondering if anyone else had seen this type of behavior.

It's natural. If she were outside, she'd actually bury it. Beau buries his nylabone under the cushions on the sofa.

Izzie does this too...sometimes you get a poke in the butt when you sit on the sofa  She also likes to bury things in a huge basket of matches we have. When my suitcase was sitting out she tried to bury stuff in there. She's lucky I noticed or her bone would have been packed away
I understand burying things in the sofa or even under it but Bella buries thing in plain sight. She's a weird dog.
I bury the remote in the couch cushions to keep the kids away from it

Stella (whose middle name is Bella), also likes to bury stuff in the house, but where it's still somewhat visible. I think she's afraid of forgetting where it's buried.
Maybe they're just like little kids and they think if they close their eyes or don't look at it, it disappeared. Or maybe they're just pretending that they buried it. I swear that animals really do have imaginations! My cat likes to pretend that he's a mountain lion sometimes (and my ankles are the wild wildebeests for him to hunt!) 8O

So I get to look forward to random bits of food stuffed into the couch cushions, huh? That will be gross!

Sometimes Izzie's attempt to get it in the sofa fails and it is in plain sight. She pushes pretend dirt over it and everything 8)
Tasker stashes everything in his bed, then Ty steals it!
My Mom's dog buries things in plain sight, too. Silly girls.
I had a dog that buried muffins in my flower pots. Very weird looking when you find that.
Hi my old dog Barkley would bury toys I gave her in my bed then she would cover it with my blankets :? When I would work in the yard she would bring stuff from inside of the house and bury it. I always thought I was losing my mind not being able to find stuff
Our late Max, (Cocker) used to do this too. After he would search for the perfect spot in the house to bury his milkbone...our other Cocker, Andy, would watch him and as soon as Max walked away...Andy would eat it. Max got smart and started to hide them in between the cushions of the sofa because Andy couldn't jump up there. :D
Our late Vaughn did this too. He would take whatever in the kitchen, dig a hole, put his treasure in, and then push the "dirt" back in the hole with his nose. When he was sure it was safe he would walk away. It was VERY funny to watch.
