Just had a GREAT vacation!!

Dale and I just got back from a week in the Outer Banks, NC. First time we went there, and we absolutely LOVED it!!  The weather cooperated beautifully, the water temperature was perfect, there was plenty to either do or not do, as the mood saw fit. We are definitely going back next year!!

We needed this vacation SO badly. We've been having some really stressful t imes with Dale's parents' health since last fall, with work issues, etc. Plus, we didn't get a chance to take a vacation last year, so it was DEFINITELY needed and appreciated.

I was able to log on to a wireless network down there, but the signal was always very low. It was sponsored by a sort of local Chamber of Commerce agency, because the web always had ad banners across the tops. Plus I think they had it set up for just one-way because I couldn't seem to send emails, just read them. The signal was always very low. So although I could log on and read the posts periodically, I couldn't respond. Now I'm trying to get caught up with everything!

Anyway, a big thanks to Tammy for your help explaining the area and attractions to us. Unfortunately we didn't get to see The Lost Colony show, but it gives us another reason to go back next year!

So both yay and boo, now that we're back. Yay because we missed Drez so much, but she was well cared for by our daughter; and boo because of, well, the obvious!!

glad you had such a great time.
What was the name of the place you were at? We are thinking of moving NC.
Thanks, Deana
We stayed in Duck, NC, just a bit north of Kitty Hawk. We talked a lot about how we'd like to buy a vacation home down there too, with the intent of moving there when we retire. But the few people we talked to who live there year round said that evacuation because of hurricanes is a very real threat every year. I'd have to do a lot of researching before moving to the Outer Banks because of that.

Of course, NC is a big state, and not all of it is affected by hurricanes. Don't know anything about the rest of the state, but Tammy (Beauregard's Mom) does - maybe she can help guide you.
My sister starting going to the Outer Banks a few years ago, now she goes every year and loves it. I have never been there but it sounds wonderful. I am glad you had such a great vacation.
Back to reality now the vacation is over BOO

Glad you had a wonderful time and drez did well while you were on holidays. :D

Lovely to have a nice break, did you take pictures? The place sounds wonderful. :D

Yay Chris!! :cheer: I'm so glad y'all had a good time and the weather cooperated for you! In fact, Jil was here the other night and we were saying how much we hoped you & Dale were having a good vacation. :D

It is a lovely area to go relax at the beach. But, the locals are absolutely correct when they told you about the hurricane threats. It's not bad every year, but it does seem to run in cycles where for several years in a row you'd have to evacuate 3-4 times a year. So, it's definitely something you'd want to think about before moving there permanently.

You'll have to put The Lost Colony on your list of "to dos" for next year's vacation. It's definitely worth seeing.

I know Drezzie was happy to have you home! Give her a hug from me.
I have never been there, but it sounds very nice. A vacation is always a good thing, especially one so overdue!

I remember years ago when the kids were little and I had gone back to nursing school. No extra time or even time for just reading a book. At spring break we went to Kansas to visit my sister. I was so excited.

People told me my life was sad if I was that excited to go to Kansas!

Can't wait to see the pictures and learn more about the Outer Bank.
I'm glad you had a good vacation! Did you get an OBX car sticker? I swear, EVERY car in Richmond has one...
WELCOME HOME! Aren't vacations lovely!!

I'll show you MY tan line if you show me yours
Welcome home!!! Glad you had a good time! I'm sure Drez was happy to see you!
Steph, of COURSE I have the obligatory OBX sticker on my car now! It's on the bottom of the right side of my back window, and counters the OES sticker I have on the bottom of the left side!

I just downloaded the pictures to my computer, so I'll work on posting some here. I wanna go back!!
Welcome back. Nothing like a good ole vacation!
Glad to hear you had a wonderful time and the pics are lovely :D
