A home for Lacy

It breaks my heart to have to write this but I need to find a home for my Lacy due to an emergency move. I am unable to take her with me as my new landlord's insurance will not allow dogs. I would like to find a foster home for her but it would have to be til at least until June of 2008 which I dont want to uproot her that much so a forever home would be better.

She is a 5 year old OES and has been altered. She is great with children...as you can see in my pics....and also great with other dogs. She is very friendly and hardly barks or makes any noise for that matter. She is also AKC registered and I have all her paperwork including shot records. She is located in Gunnison, Colorado but will be in Colorado Springs, Colorado for the last half of this week.

If you could help I would forever be greatful as I dont want her to go to the pound.

I'm so sorry you're having to do this. I know it's heartbreaking. Please contact the Colorado OES Rescue here. http://oesrescueofcolorado.org/

I am sure they would be able to help you.
Just wanted to let you know I sent you a PM in case you're not used to checking them. :)
I just wanted to let you know that I have found the perfect home for Lacy. She is going to Oklahoma City to a perfect family. I am sure she will love their son just as she loves Bubba and will be very excited when she meets Winston.

Thank you so much giving Lacy a forever home!
Did you find the home through Rescue? Love to hear more about her new family. Hope it is a great one!
Thankfully I found her a home through this community. The post from RDF is going to take her and it sounds like a perfect home. I have even been offered to visit which is GREAT! They have raised their Winston pretty much the same way that I am raising Lacy so there will be no huge adjustments for her. They have a 3 year old son which Lacy will love as Bubba is only 2. She also loves other dogs and their Winston is a 10yr old OES. I honestly believe this is the perfect fit her and it makes this decision so much easier. Just knowing she will be taken care of exceptionally is a big lift off my shoulders and especially by someone who is familiar with the breed itself. I am so happy I found this group that was able to help me in my time of need. And I will remain an active member here as I have formed such great friendships with y'all.
Good Luck to you!!

You might want to hook her new family up with us!!!
I'm sorry you have to give up Lacy, but thank you for taking the time to find her a wonderful new home. Feel free to hang around here and tell Lacy's new family to come on by!
It is great that you found someone through the forum to rescue Lacy. :cheer: :go: RDF will have to post picks of the homecoming. I just love happy endings. We will have to add Lacy to the list of dogs rescued because of this forum.
We're very excited...working out the transportation logistics is a bit of a challenge, but we're going to get it figured out. Hope to have her here by Sunday. :D

I will absolutely post pictures as soon as I can.
Congratulations, will be watching for pics
That is wonderful news. :D :D
Well we worked all day yesterday to figure out how to juggle everything to get to Lacy within the timeframe....she had to get picked up this weekend. It took some doing, but my husband took time off work and is driving with his dad now - they're going to stay at our place in NM tonight, then head to Colorado Springs tomorrow and back to NM - then they'll drive back to OKC on Saturday.

Hopefully we'll have some pictures of the crew meeting by Sunday. :D
That's wonderful :D
Thanks for adopting her...
I can't wait to see the pictures.
This is so bittersweet for me. I hate to see her go but I know in my heart she is going to a wonderful home.
Courtney,
I am so sorry to hear you have to rehome Lacy. :(
But the good news is you know she'll be going to a good home. :D
Yeah it truly sucks but Raqual offered to let me visit and they will only be about 4 hours away when they visit their home in New Mexico so wont be too long of a drive. And I know that when I get everything settled and can actually spend time finding the right home I can always re-adopt.

Did you see the new pictures of her with her hair cut?

Absolutely... and there will be sheepie that needs you when you're ready.
That's great that you found such a happy home. I hope your son will adjust okay to life without Lacy. I know this has got to be rough on you guys.

Good luck with your move!
Good for you for making the effort to find the RIGHT home. Thank you!
Well Jason just picked up Lacy and as much as I hate to see her go I know that she will be very well taking care of. I will miss her so please keep in contact Raquel and when in Red River let me know so I can come and see her if possible. Little Bubba is crying because he didnt get to go with his Lacy so I will talk more later.
Oh....breaking my heart. I know how hard it has to be. We'll keep in touch, send lots of pictures and get to see you soon. We'll probably be there in October sometime.

I promise that she'll be well taken care of - and have lots of love and companionship. I tele-commute so I get to be home with them almost all the time anyway, with one sheepie at my feet about to be two.

Hugs to you both.

 I'm so sorry Courtney.

But I'm very happy that Lacy has a new
forever home with a fantastic new family. I
think you can rest easy knowing they'll love
and care for Lacy for a lifetime.
As promised, here is a picture of Lacy at her homecoming. She's with my daughter, who is beyond in love with her. :D The eye you can see is actually blue, and the camera made it a red-devil eye, so I tried to edit....this is the best I could do. It doesn't do her justice.

Welcome to your new home Lacy! :D
She's beautiful :hearts:
We look forward to more pictures
:clappurple:
how great lacy looks happy
Lacy is beautiful and already looks well loved. What a great pic of your daughter and Lacy, a picture says a thousand words. :D
Was just curious how Lacy is doing? Has she adjusted already? I havent herad from you since yall picked her up and posted the one pic. Please let me know as I miss her dearly....!
Oh I'm so sorry I didn't see this post earlier - I didn't mean to ignore you!

Lacy's doing great. There has been virtually no adjustment - no food issues, no territory stuff and she fits right in. She sleeps in our room on a one of those big pillow-like dog beds. Last night her head was on one end and Winston's on the other. Very cute and they're becoming good pals. She's wonderful with the kids. She's adjusted to wearing a collar no problem, and although she loves to go on walks, we've got a lot of work on leash training to do! She probably travels 6 times as much as we do with all the criss-crossing all over the place she does.

Her pattern has been to sleep nearly the entire day at my feet while I work, and then when we pick up the kids, someone flips a switch in her and she's bouncy, wiggly, running and playing for the next few hours. She and Winston go with me to pick everybody up from school and day care, and yesterday she actually climbed full into my daughter's lap in the front seat. (I told her she was not an 85lb lap dog, but she disagreed.) Then when we went by my in-law's house to pick up some veggies from the garden, she actually jumped out of the open car window to come to us - never even crossed my mind that she'd have done that! We're used to Winston being older and not exactly agile anymore, so there have been some "oh yeah...gotta watch that" moments like that along the way.

She's doing just great - we adore her. Everybody's having a lot of fun with her.
It sounds like Lacy went to her perfect new forever home...Im so happy that she is adjusting so well!!!
